  1. Gotta think it's Horton and Taillon for the first 2 games if Horton is anywhere near healthy. If it goes to game 3 I'd go all hands on deck. Could be Rea and Assad each once through the order. Then maybe Soroka and/or Civale and hand it over to the pen. Could also use an opener. Padres are predominantly RHB so they'll consider who matches up.
  2. Agree. It's always the SS if he's behind the 3b with the better angle.
  3. Cade has a 1.03 ERA since the ASB. Could have been set to start Game 1. Could be pushed back now unless the issue goes away quickly. Shota still struggling with the HR off the fastball. Gotta imagine guys are sitting on it. Maybe even tipping?
  4. If we had kept Paredes and Cam Smith plus Shaw i was ok with trading Nico not last offseason but this one. But no reason to do that now though.
  5. Yeah. In a good spot. Could possibly rest some guys on Sat and Sun if they clinch soon.
  6. They could use another good SP for sure. They probably sign some FA. Probably not one of the elite guys based on Jed's history, but we can hope. Probably more the Boyd/Imanaga/Taillon type. Ballesteros has looked good. I'd like them to keep both Caissie and Alcantara if Tucker walks. Happ and Seiya will also be FA after next season i believe. It's possible Ballesteros goes part-time catcher after Kelly leaves next offseason or there's an injury.
  7. Back to back high scoring games, Boyd sharp, Palencia back, Tucker trending for Friday... Things are looking up folks!
  8. Back tightness lol. I'm there's pain so any kind of soreness I don't blame them running anyone through an MRI this time of year
  9. They suck but the situation is now getting interesting given how much they suck and therefore fighting for home field advantage.
  10. PCA so far in his career has either been on fire or dreadful. Seiya is similar. Nico is my Cubs MVP this year. Productive and steady pretty much all year on all sides of the ball.
  11. Accurate except i think they have a solid chance if Tucker can at least DH and hit like normal, which is still a huge question mark
  12. Just a reminder that "back tightness" isn't an actual thing like all the other "tightness" injuries Cubs players have had this year, like Tucker's "calf tightness" that magically turns into "calf strain" and doesn't heal for weeks. Why don't they be honest and say "Cade has back soreness".
  13. They should celebrate but it depends how hard they go at it. They also have to remain professionals and still be capable of doing their jobs. If they're a bit off the next game after the clinch whatever, but they got swept in a 4 game series including 2 shutouts. If guys are indeed taking the gas off the pedal then at least ask for a day off and get fresh for playoffs. Who knows what's really going on but it looks like a bit of sh*tshow.
  14. Cubs lead the NL in position player fWAR, and 3rd overall. Streaky hitting but elite baserunning and defense. 20th in pitching fWAR. Pitching gets a hit on xFIP because of the defense. But we've fortunately had some elite relievers for the late-inning guys but some bad relievers relievers in the bottom half of the pen.
  15. Tigers have a 3 game series vs Cleveland starting tomorrow.
  16. Kirk shooting has triggered a civil war within Cub fandom.
  17. Well good news is Taillon has been strong since returning. If Boyd doesn't look good in his next start(s) he could get the bump in the first round.
  18. Have to at least assume they'd want a RHB like Santana off the bench to PH. Really hard to see Ballesteros not on the team. If the playoffs started today I probably start him at DH vs RHP over Seiya if Tucker is back. No Tucker and Ballesteros is almost 100% in the lineup vs RHP. If Tucker walks I assume at DH/RF they go with some combo of Seiya/Ballestero/Caissie/Alcantara. They probably also sign some kind of bench RHB OF.
  19. Identical twins apparently. One throws LH the other RH lol.
  20. Rooting for Detroit and Cleveland to get into the playoffs.
  21. I watched them when they were good, which was before the summer. It was awesome. I also watched them when they were average since then. I'll let them heal and rest up and do their post-clinch thing in prep for the playoffs.
