  1. Per your numbers his EV is down, hard hit % down, barrel % down, LA down, BABIP down (BABIP isn't only a product of luck), AVG down, SLG down, wRC+ down. What the metrics don't show is a hitter clearly frustrated at the plate. Resting a cold and frustrated hitter for a mental reset for a couple days isn't likely going to hurt the team. Agree to disagree.
  2. The problem is it hasn't been 2 weeks, Seiya has hit poorly since the ASB, so a month and a half. .181 AVG/.259 SLG over that time, and hasn't really done any better over the last few weeks. Seiya is the better hitter but given the frustration we've seen from Seiya at the plate I see no harm in giving him a couple of nights off against RHP to reset his head. It worked out great for Tucker.
  3. Just woke up from a nap and had a dream where I read a news headline saying Steele not ruling out 2025 return.
  4. Pulling Taillon as a precaution due to groin tightness doesn't sound that bad.
  5. This is the org that brought back Steele to pitch 2 meaningless games at the end of Sept last year a few weeks after being shut down with elbow soreness.
  6. Shaw could probably play at least an adequate/ average SS.
  7. Yes in a way they pocketed the savings. But if they set the budget at say 220m and that's what Jed knew he had to work with they still save on swapping out Belli for Tucker and Paredes for Shaw.
  8. Yes we know Paredes and Bellinger have benefited from their parks. Bellinger's profile has also returned to around 2023 form though. I just don't see how it makes up for 3b being a negative WAR hole in the first half, plus 2 more years of Paredes control and 5-6 of Smith. They spent the cash savings on Bellinger on guys like Pressly, Brasier, and Turner and it just doesn't come out on top. Even just looking at 2025 it can't be much better than a wash at best.
  9. Statcast expected HR has Bellinger with 4 fewer HR at Wrigley. Though I'm not sure if that factors wind or just dimensions. Yankee stadium has helped Belli but it hasn't been crazy.
  10. I don't have any ill will towards Tucker at all, but as of this moment the Tucker trade and Bellinger dump have been a bust, hindsight being 20/20. Can't predict a hand injury though.
  11. It's just the internet. Why lots of players tend to stay off Twitter etc
  12. We can't do any worse than we've done offensively lol In fairness to Seiya, he would have had a HR in game 4 of the series if not for the wind, per what they showed on Marquee
  13. The internet is therapy for people to mouth off and express their frustrations lol.
  14. Play Caissie every game. I'd even consider bringing up Mo again and just IL'ing Tucker, maybe retroactive to whatever.
  15. Craig says Tucker's fracture is fully healed, and playing through it may have "changed since things" (hopefully means mechanically).
  16. Lol. Well Cubs likely did him a solid and hid it from the league for a couple months to help his FA market, but can't hide it anymore. At least he's not on the IL i guess. He probably should have rested weeks ago.
  17. Me thinks they're trying to go left- right- left etc. Also protecting PCA from lefties by surrounding him with RHB who smoke LHP. Haven't checked but I believe Happ has been hitting ok, compared to everyone else. Edit: confirmed by Rcal
  18. Agree. I do think the Cubs are a good team, but also think a bunch of hitters and most of the pen played over their heads the first half and were going to regress. The last month sucks but at the end of the year the numbers will probably look about right. It's just weird they're almost all hot or cold at the same time and it seems to happen every year. Hoping the Brewers regress soon too because they aren't as good as they've been obviously the last month and a half.
  19. Unless we have too many prospects or good young players at a particular position and someone is therefore blocked (eg Torres for Chapman trade, Soler for Davis etc) I'm usually in favor of keeping a good prospect and rolling the dice on them having good value for us for 6-7 seasons than grabbing a rental. 2 months or even 1.5 years for 6-7 years is usually not logical. Besides Soroka I think Jed did fine at the deadline given the options. I agree overpaying for a good 1st half is also not logical.
  20. Id still much rather have Castro than Brujan or Mastrobuoni.
  21. I love watching Shaw and Nico run. Nico rounding 3rd and chugging for home at max effort is the best.
