    Yep, he is going to gone a bit, as is Cabrera. Which is why I think the Cubs need two pitchers. I would like to see something like 2 guys from one team . Detmers and Soriano, Wacha or Lugo and Cameron, or Early and Gray. I would put both Shaw and Ballesteros in play for the right deal and add from there. They need guys now and after this year.

    I don’t think top 10, metric wise. More like 13-17 for me. This is assuming a staff of Horton, Boyd, Cabrera, Taillon and Imanaga. With Rea and Brown as middle relief and Palencia closing. Fill in the other spots with who they have. I think underlying numbers would show them 13-17, but with the Cubs defense they would probably be top 10 in run prevention. Even assuming some stints on the IL by guys, but nothing like this, the staff would be decent. And instead of 44-38 right now I could easily see 50-32. There is nk way around it. Injuries to the staff have hurt the Cubs greatly. Coming in they had a very good team who should have won 90+ games IMO.

    Exactly. Honertly 1 of 3 would be ok for me. 5-2 road trip. That isn’t bad.

    Thr problem with your plan is, as you said, he learned how to throw strikes. He had a CG, 15K outing without throwing 100 pitches. Waiting around for a perfect pitch will find them down 0-2 a lot. Which is not good. Basically they just have to get lucky tonight. Maybe a few seeing eye hits, maybe someone swings the bat where the all happens to be and hits it hard. Maybe his control is off a little. He isn’t unbearable. Milwaukee lost the last game he pitched. Maybe extra time off will have him off his routine. 🤷 I would be very surprised with a win tonight, but it could happen.

    I think people automatically think cocky kid. Came from LA and parents were actors. I also think they think entitled. Funny thing is PCA is not cocky. He is a kid. And honestly, I have met him a few times and he has been very respectful. I have also seen many stories of him just approaching kids and playing ball with them. He is actually a good guy, put people out preconceived opinions of him so they decide to not like him.

    Last time the Cubs swept a regular season series from the Mets was 2015. That ain’t go so well in the playoffs. We won’t have to worry about that this year.

    Wasn’t even a lucky inning. No one hit him hard. He got to 96 with his fastball too. Have to give him his props. Today, anyway, Thornton pitched well.

    True. And it is the right thing to do. Peterson will be much better with the Cubs due to much better defense.

    I just saw a stat on the Cubs game for most rbi over 2 games. It was said to be Sosa at 14. So not sure how that can be right and what you are saying is right.

    I just asked AI what the record is of a team who hits 4 homers in a game and gives up no homers. According to AI result I got, the teams with zero homers has never won the game. Hope for a first in history.

    How is mentioning you believe adding a hitter is more important than adding a pitcher mischaracterizing you? You have said it repeatedly. It has been Alveraz and Abrams. And best we know neither is available. I do respect your opinion. I even agree with it from time to time. But in this particular conversation you are just wrong, IMO. Even if Alvarez was available, there is more pressing needs and only a certain amount of assets the Cubs have to acquire those assets. Best use of Cubs assets is to get pitching, pitching, pitching.

    Here is the problem. Your obsession with Alveraz. On June 8th the GM of the Astros shot down any talk of Alvarez being available. Yet you still suggest he is. TBH, even if he was the Cubs should be looking at pitching. But there is nothing suggesting he is even available so comparing a pitching trade to picking up Alvarez is pointless. Besides that, for what Alvarez would cost I would bet the Cubs could get 2 or 3 useful pitchers.

    According to who? I mean you keep mentioning Alvarez and Abrams. But I don’t understand why either would be available. And as far as non dog horsefeathers pitching candidates there is Peralta and Skubal. And if you want someone beyond this year there is Ryan, Soriano, Detmers, Webb, and Alcantara to name several. You have created a narrative that hitters are available and pitchers are not. And truthfully none of knows who is actually available.

    Did you read the post by squally? Where in that post did it suggest the Cubs were an offensive juggernaut? Also, where was anything said about them being good because of what they have done against the Mets? Why is it so hard for you to acknowledge offense is not the problem with this team. Stat after stat continually tells you the offense is fine and the pitching is bad. And you still cling to the belief they need offense first. Top 5 or 6 in offense and bottom 5 or 6 pitching. Sounds pretty simple what is needed more.

    I think we are getting close to the time the Cubs have to get pitching via trade and jump the market. Maybe a deal with a team similar to what they did when they traded Samardzija and Hammels to the A’s. Maybe talk to the Royals about Lugo and Wacha. Both are older but still decent. Both have at least a year after this one. If they get guys back from injury that is great. But they need guys now too if they want to stay in the race. Doesn’t have to be these two guys, Just saying they need to move sooner, rather than later, IMO. The Cubs Samardzija trade was over the 4th of July. So we are getting close.

    They still need another big bat to be considered a contender. Way more important than a pitcher. 🤢

    I don’t think it is time to sell, even if Cabrera is out long. But I do think the target has to be different. Has to be for a pitcher with at least 2 or, preferably, 3 years after this year. Detmers and Soriano are a couple of options. I would start with Shaw and see what else they want. The Red Sox have a few pitchers to target as well.

    I doubt they leave Shota for Milwaukee. So maybe him tomorrow. Then Boyd, Brown and Rea? Or just Velequez tomorrow. Still Boyd, Brown and Rea.

    To be clear, I wasn’t advocating for Sanders in Milwaukee. He is scheduled to pitch today. I was suggesting bringing him up to pitch the 2nd game today. They would have had to make arrangements as soon as Cabrera went down. If the Cubs went with Shota in game one they could then use Sanders in game 2. They would have Rea, Assad, Brown and Boyd to fill the last NY game and the Mike series. Not in that order. But all would be abailable.
