    I have no idea what prospects should go and for who. But I agree with you in that you want to trade prospects for mlb talent. That is 100% what they need to do next season. Not trade our near ready prospect who is blocked for younger talent and kick this thing down the road another few years. Time to use the young assets they have to produce major league talent.

    Why do the Cubs want another prospect for their near ready prospect. If they are trading a near ready guy I hope to hell it is for proven talent. Put a few young guys together and get a major leaguer. I am not interested in kicking the can down the road with younger prospects.

    I would like to see Boog and JD every day. I do like them best. However I don’t care that much. And I really don’t care enough to talk about it every time either Boog or JD are off. Welcome to baseball 2024. Announcers get time off. Who really cares? The Cubs have way more things to complain about. Announcers would be far down my list.

    I’m not looking back and playing the “what if” game. I am answering the question asked about if the Cubs had an league average on blown saves as well as if they actually held leads at an a rate the Brewers did. I disagree they are “far below average” in any area of the team. Honestly they are a perfect example of a very average team., and their record represents that. Not great, not terrible. Average!

    Actually if they were major league average they would have 3 more wins. Now, if they converted at the levels the brewers do, they would be 84-64 and leading the WC race and just a few games behind the brewers.

    My ticket price did not go up. What they did was move tickets into higher tiers. That said, my tickets were up about $400 with 2 less games. If you add those games on, which would have been April games. So probably in the silver tier(Dodgers during the week) you can add another $56 per game and call it a $500 increase. So roughly 6%. Actually under further review, a few tier prices did go up a little. Still, about a 6% increase overall.

    No big deal. We all make mistakes. I honestly wasn’t sure if the Yankees were some sort of road monster.

    A little confused by what you are saying. Wicks is at home. So are the Yankees better on the road and you are saying he did well against them, especially with the Yankees on the road. Or did you not realize this game was at home for the Cubs?

    Well I mean it isn’t like every game the Cubs play at home on a Friday is at 1:20. So I can see why you would forget.😬

    I guess so. Not as good a hitter, but he has more versatility. Can play any outfield position and 1st base. Centerfield would obviously be the most appealing for a team, but his vercitility also helps. just asking, do you think Happ is worth $20M a year? I know I do. He is a high 3 WAR, to maybe a low to mid 4 WAR.

    This is kind of my thought. I never agreed with most people who make it sound like a sure thing he would stay. He is 29, so if he wants a 5 or 6 year deal now is the time. Sure he can make $27.5M next year and then have another good year of salary after that is he sucks next year. But then what? I think he gets a better deal now than what he will get after next year. And it is not inconceivable he does get a 5 or 6 year deal averaging $20M a year. But if he does go, thr Cubs better aim high. Not Santander or O’Neil. It should be a trade for Tucker or Vlad. Or why not Soto? If it is a trade they have to extend whoever you trade for. Or if they go with either of those other guys or even Teoacar Hernandez or Alonso they need to make a big pitching move. Either a trade for a front line starter or sign a top line starter. They have plenty of money and plenty of prospects to make two big moves and still have enough to add a pen arm. To be clear Alonso on anything more than 3 years is not appealing to me. But he would add power to the line up, if he can be had for the right price and eight years.

    Well Chapman is getting 6/$150. I am suggesting Bellinger might see 6/$120m. So that is not close to Chapman. I get Chapman’s was is very high. Much of it because of defense. His opt+ is better than Bellinger, but not to an amount that is ridiculous. Bellinger could have a hot last few weeks and Chapman can struggle and they would be pretty similar. TBH, I assumed Bellinger wouldn’t opt out because he would t get close $100M on a decent long term deal. But now I am not sure. Chapman is 2 years older and strictly a 3rd baseman. And got $25M a year. IMO, that is a lot of money for him.

    Does Chapman signing an extension for 6 years make Cody consider opting out? I feel Chapman got a pretty good deal. Even if Bellinger was given 6/$120M wouldn’t he take that over the current deal? I can see him getting that is Chapman got what he got.

    Just curious. What’s everyone’s favorite punching bag, Ian Happ’s WAR? I am never sure which WAR we are talking about, so I don’t want to misspeak on Happ’s WAR. What do you show it as?

    2 pen arms brought up. Would have liked to see Killian or Birdsell.

    Who would that be? I don’t think any offensive players in the minors will be on the team on opening day next year. So who are they releasing in the pitching department to bring up what pitchers?

    I honestly do think he will be aggressive this off season. I also don’t think they need much to be a 90+ win team. The reason I think he will be aggressive is because next year is “now or never” for him. The only way that changes is if Ricketts gives him an extension. Hopefully he doesn’t. To be clear, being aggressive doesn’t mean we get Soto. That is still a tall order. But I do expect a better roster next season where 90+ the expected win total. They have prospects to trade and money to spend. No excuse not to be good.

    5 innings from Kyle is amazing. 2 runs isn’t bad. This has to be Skenes last inning. Maybe we can have late inning magic against their pen.

    Pitch count is going to get him. But if not for that, I don’t think the Cubs would get to him. 4th inning was his best.

    I honestly would pull him now. Go with Pearson for 2 and figure out what to do after that. Next time Hendricks struggles he won’t get out of it.

    Maybe he can go one time through the line up. Then go to the one in the 4th. Don’t wait for him to explode. When he goes bad it happens quick. Then go with Pewrson for a couple and maybe Smyly for a couple.
