  1. Not at all, I agree with the freedom to post part. What I’m confused on is those implying my posts are tiresome, repeated, and clogging up the forum. My point would be if you were responding to my every post the same way, you’d be doing what you’re essentially accusing me of doing. Again, it’s just a boring offseason. It’s really hard to discuss anything other than the lack of moves when that’s all this offseason has consisted of. I think what we have to come to terms with is that we’re essentially divided into two groups at the moment: group A. Is wildly concerned at the lack of movement and overall worrisome rumored plans. Group B. Wants to wait and see how it plays out. No one is really wrong here. It’s just a vastly different way of looking at things.
  2. Oh for real? It seemed like it was the cubs alone last month. Then, I heard the mariners too. Don’t realize more teams were linked. I haven’t had as much time to check twitter the last few days though.
  3. Yeah, I was heavily leaning Imanaga earlier this off-season, but for some reason I thought he was a bit younger than he is. Now, I have him and Montgomery basically side-by-side.
  4. Yeah, Boras could be a factor. My point was you have to think he has a kinda predetermined market, right? I think Belli last year was almost the same in a sense of theyre the types of players that probably aren’t really looking for multi-year deals, and likely just want to rebuild some value. But I see your point as well. Boras is probably just squeezing for any drop he can find.
  5. Dude, it’s a cubs forum. I don’t take it seriously as you seem to. There’s literally no such thing as “consequences” on a baseball forum. It seems one of us has really warped priorities.
  6. Who would you go with out of Montgomery, Imanaga, or Snell? To me, I don’t care for Snell. But I find myself swaying on the other two.
  7. I joked about the cubs signing Tucker Barnhart to a two year deal and mentioned if we’re going to be targeting the third tier players we should probably go get them. You’re acting like I went on a two page rant about the Padres signing last night. This is the most dramatic thing I’ve ever seen. It’s just a pointless discussion at this stage. I’m going to react how I feel like.
  8. Each day that passes I get more surprised Hoskins hasn’t signed yet. Leaves me wondering if there really is something to the potential multi-player deal with the Guardians. Hoskins would have to have a pretty specific market, I can’t think he’s waiting on the other bats to sign.
  9. But again, what’s the point? I’m not swearing. I’m not singling people out. I’m posting my thoughts about the cubs on a cubs forum.
  10. But what im posting isn’t off-topic as your example certainly would be. People can react to my posts how ever they want, but it’s fruitless because every time the cubs miss on a player, or “wait the market” out to a level I disagree with, I’m going to respond if I’m irritated. It’s my right. And it just is what it is. As for last night, I agree I probably went too far. But people on here have been very, very rude for about three weeks. 17 seconds in particular seems to pop in, take a shot at someone, and then disappear. Examine his post history for countless examples of this.
  11. Again though (and I’m not trying to be confrontational or rude here at all) isn’t “bitching” about what someone else is “bitching” about the same thing? It’s a really weird hill to die on. Especially when people have valid complaints about the way this team is put together.
  12. Yankees. Giants. I like Sonny Gray so I thought that was a decent move for the cards (though their other moves sucked). Phillies locked up Nola. As I’ve said before, it’s not even the lack of moves that are alarming from the cubs. Stuff happens and sometimes there’s little movement into January. The alarming part is the leaks the last two years about how we value players, and always seem to be waiting for a players market to crash. You can’t act like that when your only advantage is that you can outspend the small market teams. Again, it’s a cubs forum. You can’t police or dictate what people post. Why that’s so upsetting to some of you, I don’t know. But for the sake of keeping the board a dignified place, it would probably be better if you just ignored the posters you disagree with.
  13. If you want to be the fan that defends the inept front office and cheap ownership at every move be my guest. I’m sure you’re exactly the type of fan the cubs love. Just don’t expect everyone to drink the kool-aid with you. Once you realize you have no say as to what people post here I think you’ll be much happier.
  14. Good stuff. You also reminded me how angry I still am we didn’t go after Harper 🤣
  15. I would have been good with Gray too.
  16. Yeah, this is true. And it’s not so much that I’m inpatient (well, maybe a little!) my concerns more lie in what’s been leaking the last few years about Jed looking for value. Obviously I’m not pining for our version of an Eric Hosmer-Padres signing. But the mega deal isn’t going away. And it would be very annoying if every year we're eliminated from the cream of the free agent crop because Jed has a self imposed years limits on free agents. Putting it another way; I’d be more than fine sitting out on the big fish this year if I knew we’d be going hard after Juan Soto next year. I’m not demanding a top tier signing every offseason. My concern is - if the reports about the cubs being out on Yamamoto are true - it appears we’re not even willing to be irrational on players that have youth on their side. There’s no perfect free agent, but if Jed is convinced 250-300 million is too much for a 25 year old ace pitcher who hasn’t hit his prime yet then we have a very idiotic man running our team.
  17. To bookend this, my thought is if I complain about the cubs lack of moves, and you complain about me complaining what’s the difference? Isn’t it better to have an active board than a dead board, even if people are posting stuff you don’t agree with?
  18. Oh heavens no, I knew there would be competition. Hell, I don’t even think I really thought Ohtani would happen. But I think it should also coming into focus that Jed has a value he places on every player and every trade that he won’t stray from. The problem is that’s not a practical way to run a big market team when your only advantage is that you can outspend the little guys. He has a small market mindset and he needs to take that horsefeathers to Minnesota. Because the rules say that disposition isn’t going to work here. Also, just want to add that there’s simply no excuse I could deem reasonable for the cubs bowing out on Yamamoto without even trying. Whether that’s on Tom or Jed it’s disgraceful.
  19. Yeah, I don’t care. Sorry. It appears we’re not allowed to post anything on this forum anyway without multiple users having panic attacks.
  20. You haven’t been civil at all. Look at your earlier posts compared to mine. You accused me of pretending to be civil and seemed to imply I was essentially playing dumb. You’ve told me I have bad takes when it’s a difference of opinion and nothing more. I opted to forgo home-field advantage and go play in the mud with you (where you’re comfortable) and now you’re crying foul on that too. You’ve now done exactly what you accused me of doing earlier and are pandering to anyone else reading as though you’re the victim, when in actuality, you sir, are a juvenile brat that is too thin-skinned to even handle people complaining about a baseball team you have no affiliation with. Why I thought you could handle an argument is beyond me.
  21. I haven’t pretended anything. I attempted to be civil with you, you couldn’t manage it. That’s the fault of your parents or upbringing. Don’t blame me for it.
  22. Im just curious, you said you had learned from your previous “buffoonery”. Any plans for it to stop being apart of your daily life? Second suggestion, do you think you could stop being a complete moron even just for the night? Start small and build from there.
  23. The sad thing is the reaction tonight was so blown out of proportion I don’t even know what I’m defending. A few posters made some snide remarks. Yet, for some of you, these remarks seemed to have rocked you to your core. It’s a discussion board. Yet it feels like some of you are campaigning to have no discussion. Would it be better if there was no traffic and we just let the site gather dust?
  24. I don’t think people being openly dissatisfied with the offseason as it stands is “buffoonery”. Again, there’s still plenty of time left. But 6 weeks ago we were talking about Ohtani as plan A, with Soto/Yamamoto as plan B. We were talking about trading for Pete Alonso. Tyler Glasnow seemed like a given. Now, where are we? We missed on Ohtani, deemed Soto too pricey. Don’t appear to have even had a meeting with Yamamoto because he was also too pricey. Alonso seems to have been pulled off the trading block and we couldn’t even acquire Tyler Glasnow with the “extraordinarily” deep farm we’ve been hearing about for two years. We don’t want to do mega deals. We don’t want to trade from the farm, and it appears we’re waiting to see if freaking Matt Chapman gets cheap enough to be our marquee acquisition for the year. Sorry, but it’s not “buffoonery” to find this offseason to be alarming as it stands.
  25. Well thank god we have you here to dispense your anger over our outrage. That’s not redundant at all. That’s not cluttering up the threads at all. Meanwhile, damn the rest of us for voicing our displeasure with the CUBS offseason on a CUBS forum. I should absolutely find a more obscure place to discuss the team.
