  1. To bookend this, my thought is if I complain about the cubs lack of moves, and you complain about me complaining what’s the difference? Isn’t it better to have an active board than a dead board, even if people are posting stuff you don’t agree with?
  2. Oh heavens no, I knew there would be competition. Hell, I don’t even think I really thought Ohtani would happen. But I think it should also coming into focus that Jed has a value he places on every player and every trade that he won’t stray from. The problem is that’s not a practical way to run a big market team when your only advantage is that you can outspend the little guys. He has a small market mindset and he needs to take that horsefeathers to Minnesota. Because the rules say that disposition isn’t going to work here. Also, just want to add that there’s simply no excuse I could deem reasonable for the cubs bowing out on Yamamoto without even trying. Whether that’s on Tom or Jed it’s disgraceful.
  3. Yeah, I don’t care. Sorry. It appears we’re not allowed to post anything on this forum anyway without multiple users having panic attacks.
  4. You haven’t been civil at all. Look at your earlier posts compared to mine. You accused me of pretending to be civil and seemed to imply I was essentially playing dumb. You’ve told me I have bad takes when it’s a difference of opinion and nothing more. I opted to forgo home-field advantage and go play in the mud with you (where you’re comfortable) and now you’re crying foul on that too. You’ve now done exactly what you accused me of doing earlier and are pandering to anyone else reading as though you’re the victim, when in actuality, you sir, are a juvenile brat that is too thin-skinned to even handle people complaining about a baseball team you have no affiliation with. Why I thought you could handle an argument is beyond me.
  5. I haven’t pretended anything. I attempted to be civil with you, you couldn’t manage it. That’s the fault of your parents or upbringing. Don’t blame me for it.
  6. Im just curious, you said you had learned from your previous “buffoonery”. Any plans for it to stop being apart of your daily life? Second suggestion, do you think you could stop being a complete moron even just for the night? Start small and build from there.
  7. The sad thing is the reaction tonight was so blown out of proportion I don’t even know what I’m defending. A few posters made some snide remarks. Yet, for some of you, these remarks seemed to have rocked you to your core. It’s a discussion board. Yet it feels like some of you are campaigning to have no discussion. Would it be better if there was no traffic and we just let the site gather dust?
  8. I don’t think people being openly dissatisfied with the offseason as it stands is “buffoonery”. Again, there’s still plenty of time left. But 6 weeks ago we were talking about Ohtani as plan A, with Soto/Yamamoto as plan B. We were talking about trading for Pete Alonso. Tyler Glasnow seemed like a given. Now, where are we? We missed on Ohtani, deemed Soto too pricey. Don’t appear to have even had a meeting with Yamamoto because he was also too pricey. Alonso seems to have been pulled off the trading block and we couldn’t even acquire Tyler Glasnow with the “extraordinarily” deep farm we’ve been hearing about for two years. We don’t want to do mega deals. We don’t want to trade from the farm, and it appears we’re waiting to see if freaking Matt Chapman gets cheap enough to be our marquee acquisition for the year. Sorry, but it’s not “buffoonery” to find this offseason to be alarming as it stands.
  9. Well thank god we have you here to dispense your anger over our outrage. That’s not redundant at all. That’s not cluttering up the threads at all. Meanwhile, damn the rest of us for voicing our displeasure with the CUBS offseason on a CUBS forum. I should absolutely find a more obscure place to discuss the team.
  10. There is some type of dramatic pill going through this place tonight. I don’t see anyone acting enraged. Most people have been very civil. The strange part is some of you are complaining about people complaining. Have you no clue how ridiculous that is? The way a few of you seem to be grasping at the idea that people are in full on rage mode so you can respond with your own (apparently completely appropriate) anger is irony at its finest.
  11. I mean, it’s a public forum for the cubs. They’ve done nothing with their offseason yet and I think (finally) people are starting to see Jed might be a bit of a problem as opposed to just Ricketts…not really sure what else you’d have people talk about. There’s still plenty of offseason to go, but this is about as mediocre a start as we could have when there is a division there for the taking if we would just attempt to grab it.
  12. Explain! Im half awake and just got super relaxed in a hot shower. This has gone right over my head 🤣
  13. I really don’t think anyone is “upset”. Honestly, you seem the most angry tonight. The rest of us are bored and mocking the disappointing offseason we’ve had thus far. I mean, I said “two year deals are saved for Tucker Barnhart” when we signed Dansby for 7 last year. Some of this you have to take as tongue in cheek.
  14. No one said any of that. If we’re going cheap they need to go get the cheap players. You can’t sit on your hands all offseason hoping that the perfect deal is going to come around. Not even saying I’m super psyched about him as a pitcher. But I think it’s clear we’re out of the first tier of free agents. Unless the second tiers individual markets fall apart, I suspect we’ll sit that group out as well. Might at least try for some potential upside guys at this stage. oh what am I saying? These guys are crap. But if that’s what we want, then go get the crap.
  15. It’s just that if they want to stay with the third tier to fill out this team they may want to actually sign some of those guys before they’re gone too.
  16. He saves the second year for the Tucker Barnharts of the world.
  17. My guess is Jed bowed out after his 3/12 offer wasn’t accepted. Not enough value in this deal.
  18. Yeah. Let’s not also forget if Belli doesn’t work out, it’ll just reinforce Tom and Jed’s stupid idea of not acting like a big market team. He’ll be used as their “you can’t buy a championship” scapegoat for the length of his contract.
  19. By the end of this offseason we’re going to be pining for Matt Chapman and Shane Bieber, aren’t we?
  20. No ricketts family panel at the upcoming Cubs convention…
  21. It really is beyond annoying. Especially when Jed hasn’t proven a thing other than being Theo’s lackey. I think you give leniency to an executive who has a track record. Not one who has zero achievements thus far.
  22. I like this post. In my eyes, his lack of building the major league roster is what eliminated us from Ohtani earlier than other teams. He knew when Ohtani was set to become a free agent and he built a roster that can’t even be sold to most of the fans.
  23. I’m not touching him unless his market falls to level beyond unimaginable. His offense has always been meh, but those last four months last year were downright gross. I think we have enough money tied into players who’s main upside is their glove. It’s time to actually find some offense for this team. Or, if they wanted to go absolutely crazy on pitching (think Yamamoto, Imanga, Hader) then fine, I’ll take his glove on a team friendly deal. But him as our main piece? Disgusting.
  24. Can we just do Imanga, Hader, Naylor, and I guess Bieber at this point? Nothing to write home about as far as an offseason, but Hader would at least help. Though, I remember watching mlb network or something and there was speculation he was traded from the Brewers cause he didn’t want to be used outside of three outs in the ninth. Not sure if he can Craig are even on the same page.
