  1. I agree that they should throw him against the Mets. It just lines up perfectly. But holy horsefeathers… talking about a welcome to the big leagues moment. First 3 hitters you face are Francisco Lindor, Juan Soto, and Pete Alonso lmao
  2. Would love to see Shaw back. There’s just nothing left to prove in MiLB. He’s mastered that level. He’s not getting any better seeing minor league pitching. I think the short spring, MLB debut in Japan, back stateside against a brutal schedule was just a little too much for him to handle initially. I’m in the camp of get him back and let him play. The lineup is good enough to support whatever production he does or doesn’t bring until he (hopefully) puts it together at this level. The only way to get better against MLB pitching is to face MLB pitching on a daily basis.
  3. His bat is so mid. It’s why I never got excited when we signed him. He’s basically exactly who I thought he would be. He’s fine because they defense is so good, but jeez I wish he could provide something offensively
  4. Horsefeathers Dansby. Straight doo doo all year so far
  5. Drew and I both went to Ole Miss, so he’s always been a guy I’ve rooted for. He was a stud in college. I remember in 2009 he a pitched a complete game with 16 K’s in the Regionals…. on 2 days rest. I know he’s older now and his best years are behind him, but for me, this move is extra exciting.
  6. Looks like we will get him in game 3 of that series as long as nothing happens from now until then to change it lol
  7. Same. Ready to be done with those teams. Tough 17 game stretch upcoming (outside of Pittsburgh / unless we draw Skenes), but then the schedule lets up finally. Hope we just continue to hang around and I expect them to go on a run. Been a few frustrating losses so far, but overall, and especially considering the schedule, they’ve done about all we could hope for.
  8. https://x.com/pgcollegeball/status/1911114503174996105?s=46&t=iRdezfuJVGBU0wPvMftX0w
  9. Mason Morris at Ole Miss is a sleeper that should be getting 1st round consideration. Ole Miss hired Jake Mangrum from the Guardians to be their pitching coach and he’s gotten insane results out of Mason from last year to this year. They are using him as their bridge out of the bullpen on Friday nights. His last 3 weekends he’s thrown 12 innings, 0 runs, 20K’s, 2 walks, including 5 shutout innings and 8 K’s against #4 TN last Friday. He’s been incredible all year. By far the best pitcher on the Ole Miss staff. He holds upper 90’s velo deep into his pitch count with a sick cutter and a sweeper/slider.
  10. My only concern with Shaw is his batting stance is so freaking weird. Feels like a lot has to go right and stay right for him to consistently hit. Then again, it’s worked his whole life. Also then again, he’s never faced MLB pitching on a day to day basis either.
  11. Before Pressly struck out JC, he shook off Amaya multiple times. Amaya went to the mound and Ryan told him he wanted to throw fastball in. After he got the K, you could read Ryan’s lips clearly saying “I horsefeathers told you.” Cronenworth was definitely not expecting fastball in there. Hope Ryan settles in. It’s been a rollercoaster every time he’s stepped on the mound so far. That was pretty cool though.
  12. True. But team wise this is an incredibly hard month of competition.
  13. Have we handed Tucker a blank check yet? It’s almost like super stars help make you better
  14. Personally it’s not the L’s that bothered me… it’s the way we lost, especially today. Bullpen has looked atrocious basically all spring and through the first 6 games. This team isn’t really good enough to be blowing 4 run leads very often in the late innings. I mean it will obviously happen to everyone, but it would be different if it was proven guys struggling. Most of these guys are either old, unproven, or really mid as it is, so when they don’t perform, it’s magnified.
  15. Getting Brasier, Assad, & Miller back should help. Not sure what Horton’s timeline is, but he can potentially help at some point this year as well.
  16. I didn’t like the bullpen coming into the season and it’s even worse than I imagined it would be. It is just a 6 game sample, so there’s time for it to straighten out. I mean they won’t be this bad. Last year was similar iirc… started out really bad but ended up being good down the stretch. There is way too many JAG’s in this pen though. I don’t know what the answer is. I imagine the conversation is basically let it ride for now. Again, it won’t be this bad. I’m not sure going and grabbing Robertson is the answer. There’s a reason 30 teams are saying “no thanks.” Maybe it’s the money he seeks. Maybe they believe he’s not effective anymore. Likely the money though.
  17. I have a personal love/hate relationship with Liam Doyle. He is electric though. Funky lefty that can touch 99. He definitely has command issues and it gets him in real trouble against SEC teams. He blew away crappy competition and has now struggled with SEC competition. Same as last year at Ole Miss. I’m interested to follow his results this year. Justin Lebron at Alabama is a guy to keep an eye on. Bat is elite. Not sure if he can stick at SS long term, but the bat plays.
  18. Also this is the most excited I’ve been for Cubs baseball in a few years now.
  19. Count me in as very very intrigued by Brethowr. Love seeing Jaguar hit the ground running. Very excited to see what he does this year Good seeing Busch, PCA, & Amaya looking strong early Some intriguing arms also. Many of which have already been mentioned
  20. Yeah I have no idea what the Padres want. Like do they want strictly prospects? A package that involves Assad due to their lack of SP depth? Matt Shaw is off the table regardless, especially considering he’s literally our starting 3B. Preller needs to get real. If he wants to shed salary, he can drop close to $23M by sending us Cease and Suarez and we can send back a package that makes sense for them. Win-Win for both sides considering what the goal is for each team. He just has to be realistic here.
  21. Pretty sure that 2 days ago Rosenthal said the Padres could land Pivetta and then look to move Cease to cut some payroll. Well they got Pivetta last night. I think that’s where the Cease hope has picked back up from. I agree it seems unlikely, but if he’s being shopped, I expect us to be heavily involved. We obviously have the assets to get it done. Jed isn’t going to get fleeced to do it though. I’d bet we’d even be willing to take on Suarez to do it also considering it has been reported that we still haven’t closed the door on bringing in another reliever anyways.
  22. Rizzo just isn’t the answer. Love him and his time here, but I think his back just can’t hold up anymore as a baseball player. He looks pretty much washed. Justin Turner is a better baseball player even at 40 years old. Turner also gives you the flexibility to play some 3rd if he has to, though those days are almost behind him.
