  1. I saw a tweet yesterday somebody put together over like the last 15 years when TORP were traded and almost every single prospect dealt were busts. Like 90% of them. Maybe the guy missed some guys, I didn’t fact check his work, but it was pretty eye opening. We all know most prospects bust anyways
  2. A former Cardinal and a former White Sox player? More like just Cubs haters
  3. Possibly. He’s the only other guy that comes to mind. I’ll let the smarter posters than me on this board answer that though lol
  4. Probably just a day off, but giving your very best prospect an off day 2 days before the TDL is certainly something. Skubal has to be the only player we’d trade him for anyways I’m guessing? And I don’t see us doing that. I don’t think we have enough nor would Jed be comfortable doing it anyways especially if it involved Hartshorn and Ben Brown or some combination. Maybe “don’t have enough” is a bit strong, but I don’t see us beating whatever the Dodgers are offering
  5. Hope is a major prospect, but seems light for Skubal. Obviously more could be involved, but Hope also seems too good of a prospect for most of the other guys available so maybe it is for Skubal?
  6. Yeah I’m not sure. Haven’t looked very deep into it. X just constantly tells me how his velo is alarmingly down every time he pitches. That’s all I’ve got lol
  7. Somebody tell Minnesota you’re only allowed to makes trades in the very last hour before the deadline
  8. I’m numb to the Dodgers getting all the star players. Wouldn’t bother me a bit. You have to beat half an all star team every time you play them anyways… what’s one more
  9. I’m patiently waiting on our minor league affiliates to drop their lineups just incase something stands out. Lots of rumors and starting pitchers we’ve been linked to being scratched has my antenna up even if we are still a little early
  10. Peralta now scratched from his start tonight after initial reports that he was going to pitch. The Athletic listed us as one of 4 teams with the strongest interest in him earlier today.
  11. Sure I get all that. I was just responding to the poster that said he “likely” won’t pitch in 2027. I wouldn’t say it’s likely he doesn’t pitch when it’s just as likely he does pitch. We can’t predict how he heals, rehabs, feels, looks, setbacks, any of that. What we know, as you said, the majority of TJ guys come back around 15-17 months and that puts him on track to pitch down the stretch and into the playoffs next season if all goes well. That was my only point. I can’t predict whether he does or doesn’t have a setback or major training wheels put on him.
  12. Right but Steele had an unrelated set back. Sure it happens, but he’s still expected to pitch this year and I would rather assume Horton does not have a setback although it’s obviously possible.
  13. Why would Horton not pitch next year? He went out in like the second game. Even if he didn’t come back until around the ASB, that’s like 15 months post surgery.
  14. George Ofman is always so wrong nowadays. I’m not doubting Detroit’s initial asking price is through the roof, maybe even close to what George said, but he says some of the dumbest stuff that clearly proves he’s not sourced anymore. Wouldn’t listen to much he has to say
  15. I’d pay a kings ransom for Tarik Skubal. He’s THAT good. The only player that is in the entire Chicago Cubs organization that I wouldn’t put in the deal is Pete Crow Armstrong. That’s it. Cade Horton? Take him. Hartshorn? He’s yours. I don’t care. Get him and give him a blank check in the offseason. Maybe the fan in me is getting carried away, but whatever. I want one of the best pitchers on the planet to go with one of the best all around players on the planet for this year and the next however many years.
  16. True. I definitely misread the tweet while at work. But I guess point still stands that Jed works in the shadows!
  17. It’s also worth noting that the Cubs, especially under the Hoyer regime, almost always stay under the radar and never tip their hand. It’s why most rumors revolving the Cubs I take with a grain of salt. Now obviously physically seeing scouts from the Cubs at a game is newsworthy, but otherwise rumors are hit or miss
  18. I doubt anything is that close to impact anything, but Detmers is scheduled to pitch tomorrow night
  19. I hope this is the last time I have to watch Taillon in a Cubs uniform. He’s so washed
