  1. Bregman was always an extreme long shot at best. Boras using us as leverage to squeeze another year out of his contract plus the Cubs using him as leverage to get this Pressly deal across. Bregman back to the Astros seems likely at this point.
  2. With the Astros needing $$$ and roster space for Bregman, a non 40 man lotto ticket always seemed like the end result to me. Never understood why the Astros would take a Thompson or Canario back if that meant they had to DFA someone else to make room for Bregman.
  3. Yea surfing the Astro's forums, the general consensus I see is they are all sad his time is coming to an end and seemed well liked.
  4. Various reports that it's a last ditch effort to open a roster spot and free some cash for Bregman.
  5. 1/$14m left on his contract. Anxious to see the return. Looks like velo and K% was down last year, but still had a solid year. Hopefully he has another good year left in the tank.
  6. Yea MLBTR had him at 2/$16m and Crowd Source 1/$5m. Mets must not be concerned about his hip injury lingering
  7. Maybe the RP market will finally get to rolling.
  8. My heart stopped for a second when I saw that pop up on my feed. Killing me Jesse
  9. Looks like Matthew has an article and thread here -
  10. Yep, with Ferris checking in at 52 -
  11. Looks like Baseball Prospectus dropped their new top 101. Shaw - 25 Mo - 73 Caissie - 77 Horton - 85 Old friends Zhyir Hope checking in at #8 overall and Cam Smith #20.
  12. If one of Dodgers/Padres are told they are out before we hear any Cubs news, then I'll start to get my hopes up. Until then, imo, it's one of those two teams.
  13. Just going off of baseball reference - looks like he mainly played 2b last season and has split a lot of time between 2b/SS the previous couple seasons. Looks like 9GP at 3b in 2020 and 6 in 2019, with also some outfield experience. I don’t know much about his defensive scouting report, so do we feel like he is a guy who could handle 80 games at 3b if needed (Shaw struggles) or is he truly more of a middle IF bench utility guy who can give you a few spot starts at 3b if needed?
  14. Here's the main guys that had non Arb contracts that overlapped in that time period. I'm sure I'm missing a few and there are guys like Quintana that had team options exercised, etc. Heyward 8/$184m Lester 6/$155m Darvish 6/$126m Zobrist 4/$56m Chatwood 3/$38m Lackey 2/$32m Rizzo 7/$41m Kimbrel 3/$43m Jason Hammel 2/$20m Cole Hamels 1/$20m Marrow 2/$21m Fowler 1/$13m Wade Davis 1/$10m
  15. Agreed. I think folks forget or don’t realize how bad Seattle’s entire offense was last year. Rojas’s last 4 seasons fWAR: 1.9, 1 (105 GP), 2.5, and 1.8. Steamer projections for this upcoming season is 1.1 in 83 GP. That’s the type of player you feel ok with having to start at 3b if Shaw flops and great with if he ends up being your utility guy off the bench with Shaw playing decent.
  16. They’ll most likely add a RH bench bat that can play 1b, e.g. Canha, etc.
