  1. Rojas always seemed like the obvious match for what the Cubs need at 3b/util.
  2. Painter follow-up, doesn’t sound like he’s in the plans to be in their rotation early:
  3. I've been on the Flaherty train all along, but still think someone is going to pay him. If we could get him on a 4 year deal, I would love that. A real pitching org got ahold of him and tweaked him back to his near 30% K% that he showed early in his career. I'm still betting he lands on the west coast however.
  4. Buehler off the board -
  5. Some fun Shaw projections from JA. Decent thread on how he got there -
  6. For Caba and Emaarion Boyd. Caba is a 19 year old defensive/speed SS that started cracking top 100 lists last season. No power, but might have a decent hit tool. Boyd is a 21 year old speed OFer in A+ with little to no power. Probably around a top 20ish prospect in the Phillies org.
  7. I am pro this approach in general, but after already signing Boyd, innings becomes my concern. I think if this is the route they go, you have to plan on adding a big arm at the trade deadline that you feel good about starting in a playoff series.
  8. He updated DH to 3.5 (See my screenshot above for the updated sheet). But yes, it's positional value and probably around 5 for Tucker total and 3 for Suzuki from those two positions. We might see some games from Tucker at 1b, LF, or CF as well.
  9. Fun little compare with the Red Sox -
  10. Add another SP and one or two backend RP pieces and we are cooking. Guessing the breakdown is something like Tucker 5.7 and Suzuki 3.3 between RF and DH.
  11. Interesting, opens a 40 man spot. Also, does that mean Mo is currently catcher #3?.
  12. Bruce talks Bellinger and Luzardo. Says he's heard Giants have inquired about Bellinger. Says you have to get a good player back for Bellinger, can't just be a straight salary dump, etc. Says they don't have to get the deal done immediately. e t
  13. Fully disagree. Change “can’t” to “won’t” and I fully agree.
  14. That’s kind of the point of my post. We act like what is said in the media is going to influence or force a billion dollar club with unlimited data and scouting resources to be scared. In reality, what is said in the media does not matter. No club is suddenly going to believe we are keeping Bellinger if we leaked we’re trying Busch at 3b. Same with Hawkins’ quote, no one actually believes we are keeping Bellinger because of the financial need for his $$$ elsewhere. With that said, you can absolutely find PA’s for these guys without having people out of position. What if PCA struggles? Stick Bellinger in CF. Going against a tough lefty? Stick Bellinger at 1b or CF. Injuries? Days off? As TT pointed out, it’s not that hard to find PA’s with 6 guys for 5 spots.
  15. The pivot is Carter saying to the media recently that with Bellinger’s flexibility they would have no problems keeping him on the roster position wise. Mariners, Giants, Phillies being floated around over the past week or so are also pivots. These orgs are working with more data than we can comprehend, do you really think the Cubs floating “We’ll stick Busch at 3b” is really going to make the Yankees flinch?
  16. Heyman doing his best to show Yankees have other options
  17. This is a good buy low opportunity for the Cubs. If Luzardo is never injured last year, his price is 2x-3x. With that said, please hold onto Caissie and let this be Triantos that goes. I can cope with the thought of Tucker walking after this season knowing it’s giving us a year to groom Caissie for taking over in RF. I do wish this was the Boyd move however and we were in on a more sure thing at the top end of our rotation.
  18. Yep he makes a lot of sense for what they need if they could dump Nick C’s contract somewhere and the framework becomes Belli+ for Bohm. But I’m also hoping in general the Belli trade lands us a piece we need for next season - either a utility guy or BP piece. If the Cubs like Warren enough to think he can fill a Wesneski type role, I’ll trust their judgement, but he’s not my favorite type of return I’m hoping for.
  19. I’d love for another team to swoop in and trade for him and watch Yankee fans whine more after missing on Soto/Tucker/Bellinger.
