  1. And traded for the best bat available 2 deadlines in a row
  2. That’s a loaded question. And why specifically 2019? Why not since 2015? You picked the tail end of a very successful Cubs run. The run where they traded a lot of prospect capital (Cease, Torres, Jimenez) to win a World Series and/or try to get back. What they didn’t do is have enough depth in the farm for sustained success. The Brewers do a great job of trading away guys before they hit FA (Burnes, Hader, etc) combined with the benefits of being a small market club which allows them to have adequate talent throughout their roster/farm. They’re also just a smart org overall with evaluations and mechanical tweaks. When the Cubs traded away their core, they traded for younger upside with the likes of Caissie, PCA, Alcantara, etc who were all years away from the bigs. Jed’s mentioned multiple times that it’s important to have a rich farm for sustained success and I think we will see the fruits of that moving forwards.
  3. That's where I'm at. Keller is fine in a vacuum, but when you have to stomach trading Caissie and paying him $15.4m aav (More in actual dollars), he becomes a no from me. The idea of Cabrera with a higher upside and the financial freedom he gives you next year to use elsewhere is just much more appealing to me (Yes, at a higher prospect cost). Otherwise just go the rental route that helps you this season and keep Caissie and do with him accordingly in the off-season once you know if Tucker is here or not.
  4. I wouldn't hate a Kelly/Suarez/Bieber/BP help deadline if that meant keeping the main pieces of the farm intact.
  5. Preller is such a fun president of operations. I'm not sure I make as many impactful trades in my dynasty leagues as he does in real life. Going to be interesting to see if he can flip Cease and then turn around and buy an OFer they like, Duran, etc to help them this season and beyond.
  6. Matthew has a good article here talking about the three big SP targets and costs associated with each. Gives a good idea of why Keller is being discussed.
  7. Good time to get the deal done before any big TDL moves have been made.
  8. Crochet with 2 years of control, 1 great season under his belt and some injury concerns netted Teel (25 overall), Montgomery (54 overall), Meidroth (Boston’s 11th), and Gonzalez (Boston’s 14th). That’s probably the closest recent barometer we’ll get to Gore (2.5 years of control and more of a consistent pitching history).
  9. @Bertz Mentioned in the minor league game thread that none of Caissie, Alcantara, and Long are in Iowa’s lineup today. Going to be a fun next five days boys. My favorite time of the year
  10. Yea, I think the optimistic timeline is May. However, this was his second major elbow surgery and if the Cubs land a controlled starter like Gore, etc, they may choose to be more cautious with Steele’s timetable.
  11. I’ve got my hopes up for Gore guys. I’m prepared to be disappointed.
  12. Yea I think they are only moving Lugo if they are blown away at this point. The recent chatter around town is that they may prefer to work out an extension with him and keep their starting staff together for 2026. Could just be “GM speak” but I wouldn’t be shocked if they hang onto him.
  13. Royals small buyers so far. We’ll see if they do a buy and sell deadline or end up hanging onto Lugo/Estevez
  14. Yankees #8 and #21 prospects (pipeline).
  15. I think a lot of us are huge Wiggins fans and believe he shouldn't be moved unless your landing one of the big controlled fish. Lance seems to support this alluding to his trade value being near or higher than ONKC's, at least to some orgs.
  16. Would love Bubic but he was always a long shot. Maybe Lugo doesn't leave town?
  17. I think the Yankees will take care of this for us. Brewers will be more savvy and probably go the 2023 route where they grabbed the likes of Canha and Santana.
  18. Sigh I’m stuck listening to Rex Hudler for three games
