  1. But when you consider how much money they are bringing in, it's only fair to them that they have high salaries. Remember that baseball is a business. Nobody comes to the park to see the owners, they come to see the players. I spent several years with a Fortune 100 company as a project manager and could easily quantify how much money I saved or made the company. Many of them over the years were in the millions, and one topped out at $27 million. My salary was $48,000. Baseball players are overpaid. could anyone else have done your job?
  2. dusty will be more motivated after signing a 7 year extension (2006 was not his fault, injuries)
  3. after winning the 2006 season series 13-3 over the cubs, the cardinals could potentially become complacent
  4. good call let's make this the 2007 optimism thread
  5. NOW IT IS YOU WHO IS THE JINXER I said he had good stuff tonight. I haven't seen anything change that yet. then what was with the shhhhhhh?
  6. he played into september without getting hurt last year
  7. NOW IT IS YOU WHO IS THE JINXER
  8. I sent this article to the dugout guys. The response email? hahahahhahahaha We really should have a thread devoted to these. I'm procrastinating by looking at old ones. Dugout of Unusual Size Picks to Click we should really just have a giant sticky at the top of every section that has a link to the dugout website
  9. I sent this article to the dugout guys. The response email? hahahahhahahaha
  10. Jake, this is not intended to be a knock against Maholm, but didn't you think the Cards should have scored more runs against him with the way he was pitching (running deep into counts, getting behind batters, the walks). I think we had 16 LOBs. If Pujols goes down, Cards are in big trouble. HYPOTHETICAL SITUATION what if steve bartman showed up at a cardinals game and beat the crap out of pujols and albert had to miss the rest of the season? how far would this go towards redeeming him in the eyes of the public?
  11. i have no idea what's going on there
  12. eat crow everyone who thought aramis would hit higher than .200 oh wait we've only played for two weeks
  13. because maddux never made three consecutive good starts last year
  14. Dude, shut up. DONT LISTEN TO HIM IT SEEMS HIGHLY DUBIOUS TO ME THAT A RANDOM POSTER ON AN INTERNET MESSAGE BOARD IS ACTUALLY HAVING AN EFFECT ON THE EVENTS OF A PROFESSIONAL SPORTING EVENT TAKING PLACE THOUSANDS OF MILES AWAY FROM HIS HOME, BUT IF IT ACTUALLY IS HAPPENING, YOU OWE IT TO YOURSELF TO USE YOUR POWER TO THE GREATEST EXTENT POSSIBLE.
  15. rocket come back and do some more stuff this is great
  16. hahaha maddux's last pitch was at least 8 inches outside
  17. Oh? When do the Cubs play the Pirates next? go to a cardinal site
  18. i don't see how that's all that bad. spivey had 230 at bats with the brewers in 2004 and did pretty well, then in 2005 he was terrible and they got rid of him counsell hit 240/330/315 in 473 at bats with the brewers in 2004, then re-signed with the dbacks for the 2005 season overbay had two nice seasons with milwaukee, but wasn't really anything special. he was traded to the blue jays for Dave Bush, Gabe Gross, Zach Jackson. chad moeller sucks chris capuano was bad in 2004, but had a 3.99 era in 219 ip in 2005. however, he was pretty DIPS-lucky and should be expected to decline this season. jorge de la rosa walked so many guys out of the brewer pen in 2005 that i dont understand how the cubs failed to acquire him -------------------- richie sexson got hurt. however, there wasn't really much of a reason to believe he was an injury risk going into the season, and his performance in 2005 showed that there isn't much reason to believe that, had he stayed healthy, he would have done anything besides put up a typical richie sexson season. because of this, i think it's unfair to say that the diamondbacks made a bad trade.
  19. THAT BETTER BE JEFF AND NOT MR MERCKER
  20. the pitcher was scared of pierre in the dugout so he let todd walker hit a home run?
