  1. 1. Babe Ruth 2. Ted Williams 3. Barry Bonds 4. Honus Wagner
  2. I wouldn't call it blind allegiance, and I do realize that both the Cubs and Theriot can an need to improve. The point I am trying to make is that if the Cubs go into 2008 with Ryan Theriot and Ronny Cedeno as options for starting SS - I think it is obvious that Theriot is the starter. I am not thinking that Theriot or Cedeno will be the Cubs starting SS for an extended time, and I have no problem with Cedeno beating him out for the starting position. I just don't see it happening. What do you realistically expect out of Theriot? I hoped he would do what he really has always done - get on base, score runs, steal bases, and be a situational hitter. Though his OB% was .326, the guy basically walked about as many times as he struck out. He isn't an easy out (most of the time). He hits behind runners, etc. You say he was one of the worst SS in baseball, and I disagree. There were a lot of good SS in the National League, and Theriot was middle of the pack (8th with 80) in runs scored. He was 4th in the NL in SB for SS. The Cubs could definately improve at SS, and Theriot may be more effective playing off the bench and spot starting - but he's the best option the Cubs have right now. If you are considering planning for the future with these two guys - consider age and go with Cedeno, and hope he doesn't kill you with his offensive/defensive play. this is my new favorite statistic of all time. 4th in the league in steals among shortstops. i take back all the bad things i ever said about ryan.
  3. i don't understand the point of this. are we trying to make a list that zero people will agree with?
  4. holy god you're not kidding this is amazing
  5. missouri fans going down in flames, keep it going, this is awesome OH YEAH? YOU PROBABLY WON'T EVEN WIN IN THE ROSE BOWL what a zinger
  6. This is my number one concern. if they really are going to do the rebuilding thing, they ought to tell albert in advance and, assuming the season goes as expected, have him play like 105 games or something. he's been hurt forever.
  7. that's right, the nfl made its referees call a game against the most popular player and biggest surprise team in the league
  8. im not going to officially jump ship, as i've decided i hate mizzou, but i will apologize to all the kansas rooters i jinxed
  9. i think i signed up for the wrong team
  10. the only game ive seen was mizzou-illinois that said, i'm going to lean kansas and mostly root for 12 overtimes and other such excitement.
  11. im pretty sure if the twins want some of the yankees crap guys they'll just trade some of their own crap guys to get them
  12. okay everyone i'm super amped up to watch the game tonight, but i don't really have a rooting interest. mizzou beat illinois, but i'm willing to overlook that tonight. everyone sell me on which team to root for.
  13. Why? Because Weis acted like a classless child preseason with his recruiting sour grapes and allegations and now Illinois fan is reveling in ND's utter crapness? That's just karma, son. I'm pretty sure you're kidding, but stealing Arrelious Benn from us has very little to do with it, they just talk waaaay too much. For instance, this ludicrous Illinois/Florida debate. I understand their point that Florida strictly on paper isn't that much better than Illinois but they would destroy the Illini in a game, and everyone seems to think Juice, who has now had one good passing game this season, would shred the UF defense. Yeah, and you thought Ball St. should've beat Illinois. So yeah. beat me to it.
  14. depending on how you define "front-end starter," you could definitely argue that the option should be worded "a front-end starter" as opposed "another front-end starter." i'm very concerned about zambrano and i don't see lilly repeating. i guess i hope hill can really step forward. i don't think it would be unreasonable at all to project him as our best starter next year.
  15. i'll readily admit that they're not the best statistics to look, but i think you're going to have to play an awful lot of defense or have an awful lot else going on to overcome .269/304/.386. care to sell me on him?
  16. that time he showed his true colors to a limo driver
  17. hahahahahhaha murder and armed robbery for one, cheating at baseball and denying it in front of congress agreed, let's hope history remember these two together for all time
  18. good news, we're one step closer to hendry's dream of a lineup in which we have 8 players that can be randomly assigned to any position in the field.
  19. The comparison isn't to Barrett as a Cub, it's to Barrett as an Expo. Infante and Barrett are both guys who were highly regarded as potential offensive assets at important defensive positions. They both had initial struggles that resulted in their never getting a real opportunity, thus deflating their values below where they should be. Hendry saw Barrett as a guy who could come back and be an asset, and it's possible he'll do the same with Infante.
  20. i voted for dixon too
  21. amazing punt
  22. hooray illinois also, ucla's qb is a moron haha
  23. hopefully this move is a precursor to winn being revealed as a steroid user and retiring out of shame
