  1. Well he's the one pitching, he can really throw whatever he wants, but the smarter thing to do is, shaing him off til he gives you what you want. but that would take all night. throwing what he wants is dangerous, especially with barrett back there.
  2. i've always wondered how a pitcher calls his own pitches.
  3. You mean one-sided, right? oh snap! and for the record, IMB wouldn't be as cool if everyone liked him. i think he's hilarious, but i have good taste.
  4. How's that possible? It's not, that's why the manager would get suspended. He's saying you start Marmol at the beginning of the game, have him bean somebody, get tossed and bring Lilly on in relief. yes, that's what "start a long reliever" refers to. at least someone knows what "start" means.
  5. renteria makes a great play at the expense of soriano, there is no justice.
  6. i can see the braves getting away with something else in this game. and the cubs won't be able to retaliate at all. i want someone in the hospital before this game is over.
  7. There was nothing he could do but throw a fit, and that wasn't going to help anybody. It is already evident to everyone watching that the umps were grossly out of line, Piniella would have been tossed in no time. Who cares if he was suspended again? He needed to show the ump up regardless. managers make little difference over the course of a few games anyway.
  8. in a situation like today, i start a long reliever who throws really hard, like marmol and tell him to aim high. after he gets tossed, bring in lilly. a manager might get a few game suspension, but it would be worth it.
  9. that forearm is on espn sunday night baseball, plenty of people are watching, he'll be suspended at least 2 games, book it. I hope you're right. it was pretty high profile. i wouldn't be surprised to see some suspensions handed out, both for the umpire crew and renteria.
  10. they're lucky they missed z, they're very lucky.
  11. that forearm is on espn sunday night baseball, plenty of people are watching, he'll be suspended at least 2 games, book it.
  12. please hit andruw jones in the head with your fastest pitch.
  13. i really hope that ump starts to get worried. when you have peter gammons shaking his head in in the dugout and espn is carrying the game, you're going to get some bad press. and renteria is getting suspended for that one.
  14. this guy throws as hard as any sidearm pitcher i've ever seen.
  15. Speaking of eyes, he's supposed to have 20/10 vision. Scout.com interview with Vitters dude thats ridiculous, hes gonna be amazing. ha now thats something that would be awesome to experience, i wish i could get a day to see what it was like to have 20/10, it would be like walking around in high def. I have 20/15, but 20/10 thats like unbelievable. i have 20/15 vision and i could never hit a baseball.
  16. he has longer arms than corey and better bat control and balance, that doesn't mean he'll walk more, though. he needs to learn quickly.
  17. He's had less than 75 ABs in his major league career, and he's only 22 years old. To add to that, he's hitting between Alfonso Soriano and Derrek Lee. I doubt the opposing pitcher is going to be too careful pitching to Pie. You can't force the opposing pitcher to walk you. He's had some very nice ABs so far. The broken bat RBI hit into right field a few days ago was probably the best AB any Cub has had this year. He worked the count to 3-2 then fouled off about 8 pitches before finally muscling the ball into right for the RBI. He then proceeded to stretch the single into a double on one of the best arms in the league. The kid is going to be good. At worst he'll be an average offensive CF with excellent defense and speed. Now that's not what I want from him, but that's the floor with him. Just calm down and let him play. i just said that despite his defense, despite his speed, despite his "clutchness", if he doesn't take some walks, he'll never be a consistent productive player in the league. and that would be a failing. there are plenty of players who hit between 2 excellent hitters and still draw walks. and the plate appearance you're speaking of, he fouled off plenty of ball 4's. you can't be afraid to strike out as a major league player. i don't care what the results are right now, they're bound to be negative over the course of a major league season.
  18. so where is this patience i've been hearing so much about? if he doesn't develop an ability to draw some walks, he'll be a failure, another utter failure.
  19. your views are intriguing to me and i would like to subscribe to your newsletter.
  20. i was thinking that, but i think the mets would have to include more than that. Milledge and Pelfrey, get as many LHP in the rotation as you can. that might do it for me.
  21. i was thinking that, but i think the mets would have to include more than that.
  22. i'd trade hinrich for randolph in a second. then find a way to acquire a veteran point guard on the cheap.
  23. i just can't believe that konerko held up on those pitches, unbelievable.
  24. knoerko knows he has no chance at hitting the ball, so he begged for a walk and it worked.
  25. knoerko looks at 3 pitches he had no business holding up on.
