  1. i hate all this "everybody is going to get a fair shot to compete for 5 slots"-thingy. in actuality, let's be honest, lou, you have 4 guys competing for 2 spots and that's it. it doesn't matter what z, lilly, and hill do in the spring, they'll be at the top of the rotation no matter what--which is where they should be, but let's just call it what it is.
  2. haha, the illini can still play defense, at least.
  3. I culd be convinced of Bryant Johnson. he has had some good games, when he gets in. same for Bradley really. and hester can burn anyone ...that lack of confidence I sense in your response surely must be bourne on the wings of a realization that none of those guys are actual good NFL wide receivers. everyone should have a lack of confidence then, because every single team in the nfl has holes. why are we taking the bears out of the context of the nfl and acting like it's just them that can't have any weaknesses? it's not the having of the weaknesses that worries me, it's the ability to cover them up. but actually, if the bears can stay healthy defensively, there isn't much weakness that that won't cover up, offensively. they just re-signed a perrenial pro-bowl player, this is what good teams do, they keep their exceptional players and continue and continue and continue to re-tool around those guys. i'm hopeful for the return of dvoracek, payne, and bazuin. i'm optimistic at the propsect of having both tillman and vasher healthy for a majority of the season, and intrigued at the possibility of mike brown reclaiming his starting job. can injuries happen? sure. but stating that a team with a defense including urlacher, briggs, and tommie harris, three players that are probably top 3 in the league at their respective positions, is on a "2-year rebuild plan", is just so much utter nonsense. teams don't even have 2 year rebuilding plans anymore, either you can rebuild your team in a year or you're a bad gm, your coach sucks, and ownership has lost interest. there are no such thing as "2 year rebuild plans", that just sounds like passive-aggressive pseudo-skepticism to me.
  4. maybe, paul's real good. but, i wouldn't say that it's finished, yet.
  5. the head women's coach from michigan lost his mind in the worst of all possible places.
  6. It's not just Brown. They lost people at every level of the defense. The loss to Dallas killed them physically and ruined the season. SD- Lost Dusty D and Mike Brown... BTW the best rb in the nfl ran 17 times for 25 yards. Dallas- Lost Vasher, Tommie Harris hurt is knee, and Rube Brown lost an arm and an ankle. So then against Det- We blame grossman, play Griese who then throws 3 ints, and Kitna burns a secondary starting 3 new players, oh and btw... Kevin Payne breaks his arm... I can continue. the payne injury hurts because we don't know what we have with him. it woul;d have been nice to have seen what he can do instead of throwing archuleta out there.
  7. his injuries have been totally different, and none of them have been very pretty---i wouldn't say he's fragile. he's been very unlucky
  8. i don't buy that. if they can stay healthy at key positions, they can win the north. every team has holes, every team has injuries. this bear team has enough talent to compete. i'd like to see them re-sign briggs and move that line around a bit, but i'm not writing next season off by any means.
  9. while i do agree with oldschool's "republicans are losers" policy, i disagree with his gun control policy.
  10. kris jenkins is the guy with the gigantic ass, isn't he?
  11. http://img84.imageshack.us/img84/3383/rmcd1.jpg looks good to me.
  12. rashard mendenhall.
  13. That's surprising considering how successful he was in college. Don't listen to Mike Mayock about this one. That guy has a vandetta against McFadden for some reason. I love Mendenhall but if you gave me the choice of either, I'd take McFadden without much thought. yeah i have a hard time believing that the guy was running about 6 yards a pop without breaking some tackles. His high rushing average is due in large part (at least in my opinion) to his breakout runs he'd get alot. I get to see a good bit of SEC football down here and it seemed to me like McFadden's rushes would go something like 2 yards, no gain, 7 yards, 2 yards, 18 yards, 1 yard, -3 loss, 28 yards, 70 yards, 2 yards, etc. He depended totally on his speed and would rarely bowl over people, like Peterson (uber-stud), or juke people out of their shoes, like Bush (a bust). He seemed to just take off and people wouldn't be able to get a hand on him. With the speed the NFL seems to have at LB these days, I don't think he's going to get those big runs like he got in college. the nfl doesn't have 4.27 speed at linebacker. most linebackers can't outrun most rbs, what's your point? mendenhall is as big as a linebacker and as fast as a cb. mcfadden's a big name because he's been hyped his whole career. he's fast and he's got talent, but is his game suitable for the pros?
  14. mendenhall's no bo jackson, but he's definitely more like bo jackson than mcfadden is like barry sanders.
  15. but we aren't talking about intimidating, intimidating is the wrong word. when you, as a linebacker, try to hit him, your eyes roll back in your skull and you lose control of your bodily functions and then you see darkness for an instant and then you try to go towards the light but it's too painful for your soul to move and then he steps on your face and outruns the secondary.
  16. no, you said "who would you rather try to tackle?" i think most nfl players would rather try to tackle ron dayne than, say, barry sanders in his prime. yeah, barry sanders in his prime was way better than anti-lock brakes.
  17. that ain't happening, partner. berrian is not that good.
  18. what, sulley doesn't get his due credit?
  19. and so begin the myriad foot and lower-leg problems that invariably end the careers of men his height. he's already logged too many minutes in the nba.
  20. Hopefully it won't requite surgery, but it sounds manageable. i can understand why he wouldn't want to take pills the rest of his life, but no dr. in their right mind is going to perform an unnecessary cardiac procedure just so derosa doesn't have to take one little pill every morning when he wakes up. even catheter ablation has it's risks. atenolol costs 10 bucks a month without insurance. if derosa lives another 50 years, the total cost will be around $6,000. heart procedures cost considerably more than that. rich people (with insurance) asking for major invasive procedures for problems that can be managed easily with medication just drive up those prices for people who actually need major invasive procedures. deal with it, mark, your life is slightly less perfect than before.
  21. That sounds like palpitations. I had em because of dehydration & stress. Yeah, that's exactly what they are. Spicy foods, stress, alcohol, sugar, even indigestion can bring them on. My first clue that it wasn't actually my heart (besides not being short of breath, in pain, dizzy, etc.) was that I never get them while exercising. Working out helps relax me, so they're never noticeable then. "palpitation" is really just a general term used to describe describe an abnormally fast heart rate. it's non-specific.
  22. pvc. premature ventricular complex, i get them sometimes.
  23. i will say that drew gooden looks like he's added some weight, though. It's the beard. possibly. he may have a basketball gnome or something living in his magic beard. but he looks chunky and heavy-fotted to me.
  24. i will say that drew gooden looks like he's added some weight, though.
  25. this scola cat never plays good when i'm not watching him. and you know it's not your night when skip to my lou is draining 3's against you.
