  1. haha, these refs are confusing.
  2. deflected straight up and we can't get it.
  3. dufrene gets horsecollared and surprise, no call.
  4. condolences, but both calls were right, as was the reversed touchdown by benn. not disputing that, but the bounces sure seem to be going the way of the lions tonight. it's frustrating.
  5. and that's the last time illinois will sniff the lead.
  6. and penn state gets another huge break that will inevitably lead to a touchdown. i've jumped up out of my chair two times tonight and both times the ruling got reversed. what a load of bs.
  7. i haven't seen martez wilson run hard in this game yet. he better get his act together quick or he needs to sit down. it almost looks like he's pouting or something.
  8. i have a bad feeling about this game. i don't think illinois comes out on top in this one, just hope that they can hang around until the end and then have a shot. and congrats to omc on the game today.
  9. i think this itself is a bit of hyperbole, if i have my definition straight. never ever go with baseball people, baseball people probably know the least about the game of anyone because they think they know the most. i won't complain about theriot's season because he's been adequate at the position, for the most part. Yeah, sure, I won't go with the baseball people because they think they know baseball. I will go with the moneyball people because they show such great humility when discussing their baseball knowledge. Wow. Again, when posters get entrenched in their position, they resort to hyperbole and extremes to try and make their case. It actually weakens their case. Substitute a few words here and see how silly this statement can sound: never ever go with moneyball people, moneyball people probably know the least about the game of anyone because they think they know the most. since when did humility have anything to do with being right or wrong? and i don't think "moneyball people" is the right term. personally, i think that anyone who professes to be right all the time, especially in a game where so much is up left up to chance, is probably an idiot--no matter who they are.
  10. i think this itself is a bit of hyperbole, if i have my definition straight. never ever go with baseball people, baseball people probably know the least about the game of anyone because they think they know the most. i won't complain about theriot's season because he's been adequate at the position, for the most part.
  11. I agree wholeheartedly with the last sentence above. I'll never get the desire for people, Cubs fans no less, not to get behind him 100 percent. He doesn't get on in the 10th, we don't win. Period. Sure, obsess over his imperfections, but he's had a great season, and any notion to "bench" Theriot is absurd. I can take or leave Cedeno, but he sure strikes me as a dumb player most of the time. Theriot has worked his butt off to maximize his talent and had a fine year. I, too, don't understand why so many posters are against him. I'm not "aganst" him, but I want the Cubs to upgrade SS if possible. Cedeno isn't that upgrade, but Theriot's age, sub-Neifi/Pierre levels of power, terrible defense and horrible baserunning meas he should be the backup in 2009 for, ideally, whoever the Cubs find as their new starting SS. It is hyperbole like this that leads to these long argumentative threads. That's one the least hyperbolic things written in this thread in the last few pages. "terrible" and "horrible" and Neifi are all gross hyperbole. You can criticize his defense or baserunning or power, but, believe me, if he was "terrible" and "horrible" and Neifi-like, he would not be playing. My God, what would that make Cedeno? It is over the top stuff like this that makes what it is said not very credible. he compared his power to neifi's, which is probably an overestimation.
  12. of course. well, this is what you all asked for with orton. an offense that can't get in the end zone. btw-he's also thrown 2 picks.
  13. not to be a negative nancy, but that brilliant open-field tackle by dexter jackson is going to thwart the sure touchdown. the bucs have been just quick enough to stop the bears today. wolf should have put a move on him in the open field, there was no one around them.
  14. i was just thinking of printing screen and cutting it out and wearing it. it would save me about 25 bucks.
  15. Call me greedy, but hoping for Cubs WS win, LSU NC, followed by Cowboys SB victory. :D you're going to have to without the last 2 for a cubs victory.
  16. len, who tells you what kind of face to make when you're doing the pre-game and bob is talking? i mean, is that something you can teach or are you pretty much born with it? ask bob the same thing for me, only substitute his name for yours and please get back to me.
  17. good thing they have the goggles this year, they don't look like rookies to the whole celebration thing.
  18. I'd like to see that, but I'd also like to see them lay down against the Brewers so that the Brewers clinch the WC. i agree, not only do i want to see the brew in the playoffs, i also want to see the cubs rest every single starter except marquis until the playoffs.
  19. meh. they haven't made the playoffs in over 25 years, they put all of their hopes in this season and it's falling apart for them. it sucks, i can identify.
  20. I guess all your trickery worked i'm not admitting to anything, yet.
  21. What are they when they throw no hitters? 13-0. What do you think ?? The Angels lost earlier this year with a "no-hitter" that wasn't technically a no-hitter b/c they only pitched 8 innings. andy hawkins threw one for the yankees in 1990, i think, too. lost by 4.
  22. That was so 15 pages ago it's still hard to believe.
