  1. Should try out Out of the Park Baseball for a team building game. Both are good but OOTP (sim based computer game) is better for rebuilds.
  2. Cubs were winning, now they're not
  3. The Cubs have reached fun bad
  4. Alzolay isn't good
  5. You can tell Boog and JD do not like Sutcliffe in the booth. I feel like JD will leave as soon as his contract allows If they replace JD, hopefully they go after someone like Mark DeRosa and not Sutcliffe or Grace or Dempster. Although outside of the fill-ins, Dempster surprisingly annoys me the least.
  6. Brain overheated from doing research on the COVID vaccine
  7. Think he's doing the Olympics
  8. The return is looking promising, but I'm still pissed that the FO had their hand forced into trading Yu simply because the Ricketts wanted to shed payroll. The Cubs traded Darvish at the right time, look at what Darvish has done this season. I was a big fan of selling Darvish at his top value after a few years of frustration but didn't really care for the return. Thought they should have gotten one of the Padres top guys for a guy that finished 2nd in NL Cy Young voting last year. But looks like it's working out.
  9. yankees really gave up too much for rizzo, but i'm not complaining. To be fair, Rizzo is working out for them so far. I think he's gonna have the best success out of the guys we traded. Still don't get how the Cubs got insane value for Rizzo and Baez though and little value for Bryant. I was all for keeping Baez and/or Rizzo and letting Bryant go but those offers were too much to pass up on and I wonder if that's what they were thinking too.
  10. ALways fun to go back in these threads. I think we all were duped. Not all of us....but then again, I thought Heyward would be a beast, so we're all fallible. Contact > power will be the FOTM among some fans for a while. Until they remember that dingers rock and that needing 3 straight hits to score sucks in a different way. I think you can have some happy medium of contact bats and guys that hit dongs.
  11. The insinuation is that as a Hendry apologist you were embarrassed by the success of the Theo era you predicted would go so horribly wrong so you stayed away until things started to get worse again and you could come in and complain about the team some more. I never went away. I've always felt that when a club is going good, no one person should get all the credit and when they're going bad, no one person should get all the blame. All World Series champions have to smart, willing to spend, healthy, and lucky. Epstein deserves credit for bringing together a group of guys who blended together and pulled off something that many of us old-timers didn't think we would ever see. The fact Hendry wasn't able to deliver a WS championship doesn't mean he is as horrible as some people portrayed him. Hendry was pretty damn bad. And granted some of it was him being hampered by the Tribune Company and Sam Zell's ownership (no idea how people can even muster a complaint about the Ricketts family and spending after dealing with that) but there's a reason Hendry didn't get a GM job after he was fired.
  12. It's been 4 games. He's been the same player all year though granted he was hitting by the time the Cubs traded him which was awesome because it probably landed them PCA.
  13. When Leeper and ManRod are at the end of your top 30 prospect list, you have a deep system. Also no Cassie
  14. Outside of the HR, Baez has been pretty bad so far on the Mets. If he can't get it done there with the Lindor friendship and Cohen's deep pockets, I really think he's gonna struggle to get much on the open market. For sure less than he wants.
  15. He got traded. Seriously, if Boog is gone I'd rather just promote Pat to the booth. I thought his TV broadcasts have been good.
  16. He went on the ultimate heater but yeah, he'd have good weeks with the Cubs where he'd homer once a game and then he'd have a few weeks where he'd hit .100 or so. It's fine if you have players behind him that are consistent but that was the problem with the Cubs.
  17. Think 7-10 is the likely scenario no matter what given their schedule
  18. Ortega had 4 of the 5 hits and every single run was produced by him
  19. Ortega playing the role of Nikola Mirotic blowing the pick 1 meaningless hit at a time
  20. Hope they all do well and it doesn't make the Cubs look bad if they do well. They were all collectively on a team that was 11 games out of first with them all in the lineup. I expect a bit of a trade bump in value.
  21. Dempster wasn't really that good at that point, think I was hoping for anything Well the Cubs did reportedly have a deal in place with the Braves for a top 50 prospect (Randall Delgado) and Dempster rejected it and the expected return went public. So at that point our expectations were likely skewed. As it was Mike Olt was a fringe top 100 prospect so the return was actually decent value for 2 months of Dempster. It just so happens Delgado and Olt had relatively disappointing careers and a throw in (Hendricks) turned into a stud That's right, we didn't think Dempster was gonna be moved so people were fine with any return. They got Christian Villanueva in the Dempster deal with Hendricks, who people were pumped about. Olt was in the Matt Garza deal
  22. Dempster wasn't really that good at that point, think I was hoping for anything
  23. I get they're trying to go the opposite of what they just did with high contact, high average guys over what they just had. Just don't think 2 guys that do the same thing in the same infield is gonna work. I don't think Madrigal is bad by any stretch but I thought they should have gotten more than Madrigal and Heuer, instead they're handing the White Sox a good shot at a World Series.
