  1. They got better players and a draft pick (and not having him probably helped the tank). What are you complaining about? Good riddance to that weirdo flake. If you think Roquan was that important to the tank, then he was probably worth the money he got paid
  2. Uh, can the Bears have Roquan back? What was the point of letting him go and not paying him"?
  3. Chip Caray might be the new voice of the Cardinals: https://www.stltoday.com/sports/baseball/professional/chip-caray-could-replace-dan-mclaughlin-on-cardinals-telecasts/article_62855478-ad1c-50f5-b547-5abe1316f644.html Edit: Not might anymore
  4. The Colts just seem like the perfect trade partner in all aspects. If they retain Saturday, they'd be even more attractive to me if the Bears get a future 1st from them.
  5. Broncos defense a top 3 play decides give up at the wrong time
  6. I don't need the #1 pick. Just get #2 and take Will Anderson, pretty easy call there.
  7. What? This isn't true at all. The team projects to hit a bunch of dongs. Like there's plenty of real things to complain about on this team without making stuff up. I think there's plenty of reason to be skeptical of their power bats. Suzuki, Happ, Bellinger, and Swanson have all either been inconsistent or we haven't seen them be consistent and they lost basically all their power at the catcher position. If everything goes right though, they could hit a bunch of dongs.
  8. Don't know if this is going to work but I think either way the Cubs are going to be maybe the most boring team in baseball. Their pitching rotation is made up of guys that don't throw heat and their lineup is made up of a guys that can play defense but can't hit for much power. There's going to be a lot of low scoring games, much like the 2nd half of last year. I guess winning is more fun than not winning but it's not going to be a team that excites anyone.
  9. Conforto going to San Francisco of all places is pretty hilarious though
  10. So the Cubs saw the Phillies power their way to pennant and decided to put together a team that won't score at all
  11. The AAV is going to matter a lot unless you have an owner you trust to spend, regardless of luxury tax. I'd rather have the good player in Correa for 5 more years with the chance of adding another star player with him than the much worse player in Swanson at the same AAV. The new model in MLB for the top free agents is going to be giving them 10+ year contracts so if you're uncomfortable with that now, you'll never sign the top free agent in any class. In which case, the Cubs likely won't matter anyways.
  12. Just saying that Heyward was coming off of three straight high fWAR years before signing with the Cubs, when he then immediately turned into a pumpkin. Correa has already had some back problems, so he's a gamble. None of us know how any of this will turn out, though, so we're all just arguing to argue. wait, you were comparing correa to heyward? that's even weirder Yeah Swanson is the Heyward here. Almost the same deal, defensive-first player. Heyward had even more of a track-record of at least being good.
  13. Correa is a lot better than Swanson. And could end up being the next Heyward, but we'll see. If Swanson hits like last year, he'll probably be fine. But I can't remember the last time a long-term contract for a defensive-first player ever worked out more than a few years.
  14. Nope, this makes the Correa contract look like an absolute steal. People need to stop being trained to care about years on a contract. You'll never sign anyone good anymore if you care. Huh? Swanson: 7/177 = $25M AAV Correa: 13/350 - $27M AAV Basically the same per year, but half the commitment. Why is that horrible? Correa is a lot better than Swanson.

  16. Last year's rebuilding year resulted in the 13th pick. The Cubs might be worse this year so maybe top 10!
  17. it seems much lower than 50/50 that the cubs will even get swanson taillon was our splurge Honestly, the "best" move they can make at this point is just sitting out.
  18. Now that the Cubs will likely sign Dansby Swanson. What's a reasonable contract that won't make me explode in rage?
  19. If he doesn’t get either guy I may have to buy a cubs convention ticket just to see the atmosphere I'm sure Jed won't get a warm reception but the owners will always be the scapegoats.
  20. Brett will go nuts when they sign Gary Sanchez or something and pretend the front office knows what they're doing
