Sorry, nope, that’s detached from reality on all accounts. Yeah, agreed. The “disaster of epic proportions” was a little much. Doesn't seem like it now but you'll see it when the draft starts and in the years following. Would be fine if the Cubs were winning because of a bunch of young guys that could be part of the future. This team isn't. They're winning because of guys who might be bad as soon as next season. The last time we saw a season similar to this was the year Lou retired in season and handed it off to Quade. The Cubs won a ton of meaningless games and people pretended that it might carry into next season. The truth was, they were meaningless games with no pressure and the Cubs followed that season off with a season that ended up changing the direction of the franchise. I don't need to see them lose every game and somehow move their way into the top 5 (wasn't happening anyways) but picking 12th would be a disaster for what this team is.
