  1. Thought 49ers defense sucked today. Bears were running basic offense and they couldn't stop anything.
  2. Considering he just lied about knowing about this a few months ago, I'd guess there's no way he's coaching another game
  3. I think Jonathan Toews needs to be looked at a lot differently now. Captain Oblivious
  4. I do not need to see the Bears in the playoffs again as a 8-9 or 9-8 bum team that's just gonna get blown out on Nickelodeon and save everyone's jobs.
  5. Lars Nootbar guy has to win this game
  6. Had more to do with the teams they were playing. I'm guessing the Bears look like a competent offense on Sunday too.
  7. I'm not here to form opinions on Fields right now because it's way too early. But I don't get why Bears fans are acting like Fields is some sure thing.
  8. Pagano wasn't the problem
  9. Montgomery actually looks good and he only has half the team carries in the first quarter
  10. Adrian Amos masked a lot of his flaws is what I'm going with. Also some unsustainable turnover luck.
  11. Secondary looking about how I thought it would
  12. Three guys who will all be on next year's team combined to give up one run over ten innings and that's....bad?? There's no reason to pitch both multiple innings. Give other guys shots in high pressure situation. Winning these games does nothing for the future. I feel like we went through this same thing in 2010 when the Cubs finished 24-13, bought into their roster, and finished the next season 20 games under .500 when the pressure was back on.
  13. Another 32 year old contributing to screwing the draft pick. The Cubs do know they don't have to throw their best relievers multiple innings, right? These games are meaningless. It literally proves nothing when you throw Rowan Wick multiple innings after he was out all year because of injuries. If you actually cared about next year, you'd take it easy with him.
  14. I posted this a couple of days ago but its worth updating as it has changed: 2021 Cubs pre-deadline: .227/.308/.398/.705 2021 Cubs post-deadline: .249/.306/.418/.724 If the Cubs had kept Chafin, Tepera, Kimbrel and jetted off their hitters; I think they're in the Wild Card picture right now.
  15. Sorry, nope, that’s detached from reality on all accounts. Yeah, agreed. The “disaster of epic proportions” was a little much. Doesn't seem like it now but you'll see it when the draft starts and in the years following. Would be fine if the Cubs were winning because of a bunch of young guys that could be part of the future. This team isn't. They're winning because of guys who might be bad as soon as next season. The last time we saw a season similar to this was the year Lou retired in season and handed it off to Quade. The Cubs won a ton of meaningless games and people pretended that it might carry into next season. The truth was, they were meaningless games with no pressure and the Cubs followed that season off with a season that ended up changing the direction of the franchise. I don't need to see them lose every game and somehow move their way into the top 5 (wasn't happening anyways) but picking 12th would be a disaster for what this team is.
  16. There's a huge difference between drafting 12th where the Cubs are likely headed now (or even higher) and drafting 6th The Cubs draft spot is a rounding error in their long term trajectory. Nobodies like Schwindel being big parts of the success aren’t ideal, but no one should be at all upset about the team playing well. It means guys like Happ and Willson are hitting, the bullpen looks good, and those types of things mean more for the upcoming years than picking 7th or 10th. Contreras has done nothing. He's been hurt for most of this. The guys that are hitting are all 30+ with no future. This is a disaster of epic proportions. Even when the Cubs were really tanking in 2012-2014, they had young guys like Rizzo and Starlin helping them win games. This team has literally nothing of value on the offensive side.
  17. I just can’t get into tanking for baseball. I feel like it makes sense in basketball because stars are so unbelievably important and it makes sense in football if you need a QB because they are also important. Maybe I should care more because of the extra money for draft spending but I don’t. Sure it’s better if they lost, but I’m also finding joy in watching a team play well completely unexpectedly. There's a huge difference between drafting 12th where the Cubs are likely headed now (or even higher) and drafting 6th
  18. Nothing like a bunch of 30 year olds completely screwing the future
  19. Got to love the scrappy 30 year olds leading the Cubs to wins
  20. https://nypost.com/2021/09/01/mets-gm-zack-scott-busted-for-drunk-driving-in-white-plains/?utm_campaign=iphone_nyp&utm_source=twitter_app More Mets in the news
  21. I'm fine with sitting Fields to start the year but Andy Dalton was painfully mediocre with a Dallas team with way more weapons than the Bears have right now. I generally don't get how he's any better than Nick Foles. And yeah, I did watch Foles last year struggle with a bad O-Line and a tough schedule.
  22. Cubs are up 2-1 in the 5th
