  1. They have all called it UPS this year. it's some sort of inside joke, I think.
  2. I think he knows he could have found it on his own, maybe he was looking for some personal advice on when/how to best order them? Are any of you planning on attending opening day? Maybe we could organize something? We tried to organize something last year. It's a total crapshoot as to whether you can get group seats or not. Last year we failed. Also, the policy last year (and I believe this year as well) was that single game tickets were sold in maximums of 6. The easiest way to have a get together, in my opinion, is to have a bunch of people get bleacher seats to a less popular game, such as the last value date game of the year (always a Thursday in late May), and distribute them. That way we can be fairly assured of getting enough seats, and we can sit together. In fact, I may propose doing that.
  3. I sincerely doubt that. Every top 50 recruit has a live ESPNews broadcast of their choice. ALE having done it is nothing special.
  4. You know Ohio State spends millions more than that.
  5. Because if you have an idea you're confident in, you keep it to yourself. Right, guys? Right? Meh, I give up.
  6. Arthroscopic is no big deal nowadays. Depends what they find in there as to how long he'll be out, but it won't be more than 6 weeks. Ben Roethlisberger had arthroscopic surgery in the middle fo the season this year and missed 2 games, IIRC.
  7. I do not peg Baker as a bad coach simply because of his stance on walks. I peg him as a bad coach because of his stance on walks, his inability to get proper bullpen matchups, his inability to properly use his bullpen (resulting in some relievers getting ridiculously overworked while others rot), his inability to pull his starters at the proper times, his inability to use non-vets in critical situations where a younger player is statistically more likely to succeed, his inability to fill out a lineup card in a way that maximizes the abilities of the players in the lineup, and his inability to recognize when a particular idea (for example, Corey in leadoff) is really really terrible. And those are just the big things.
  8. I love this website. Also Len.
  9. Souvenir. It'll get shredded by fans, I bet. Plus, I know I'll be peeing in it on my way home from Murphy's on random nights. I would be careful where you whip it out. http://www.smr-home-theatre.org/dvd/images/Little_Shop_Of_Horrors.jpg I walked home from Murphy's a couple of months ago and was going down Waveland at about 1:30 AM when I noticed a man waddling toward me. It was dark, so all I could see was his silhouette at first, but he was definitely moving strangely. I figured he was just drunk. When I got closer, I noted that not only was he drunk, but he was walking so strangely because he was peeing on the Waveland Ave. sidewalk as he walked and was trying, fairly unsuccessfully, not to step in it as he went. I stood off to the side and let him pass. I don't think he ever noticed me. Also, the more that I think about it, I probably saw him do this for at least half a minute. At no point during this time did the stream of urine falter.

  11. I don't put a ton of stock in his writing. He seems to be a sensationalist going for the outrageous comment. Ding ding ding!
  12. They're gonna plant ivy on the exterior? Why?
  13. Also Lenny Harris and Timo Perez were out winning world titles. Maybe we should get players like them, too. or maybe we should stop judging the quality of players on whether they were 1/25th of a World Series-winning team.
  14. Does Kearns make more than $5 mil a year? Does he have crow's feet? Can we stuff his pants with money and paint worry lines on his face?
  15. Did you hear anything about Derrick Williams, Justin Norwood or Justin King this year? If they are good enough to play, they will play. You'll rarely see true freshmen play on the offensive line though. At least 2-3 true freshmen will get playing time on the DL though, due to losses to the NFL. I think their 5* recruit, AJ Wallace, will get a decent amount of playing time in the secondary with all 4 starters being seniors last year. BTW, this makes 8 commits from Maryland, 7 of whom are 4 or 5 stars in the Rivals rankings. One 5*, thirteen 4* and eight 3*. Definitely a top 5 class nationally now with the two 4* commits today. If Hazelton defects from USC I will just about pass out. This is fantastic. I've never seen a PSU class like this. And to have the last 24 hours bring in 3 4-star recruits.... let's just say that there's not much work getting done in the lab today.
  16. I'm starting to feel the same way. I've been going to the same Super Bowl party for several years, and I'm probably going to again, but right now I just want to sit 12 inches from my TV at home, with nobody else there, and concentrate fully. I keep having this thought of everyone else critiquing commercials and making fun of the halftime show and all of the other stuff I usually do, except this year when that happens I might explode.
  17. Joe Buck and Troy Aikman is as good as it gets. I guess. Just like Phil Simms is as good as it gets for the AFC championship. Did anyone hear Phil's, "As a player, sometimes it's best it you know the rules," comment during the 4th quarter?
  18. Here we go Here we go Here we go, Steelers, here we go Pittsburgh's going to the Super Bowl!!!! That one's for you, Truf. Wooooohooooooooo!!!!1111
  19. I voted the Jason Jennings game, simply because I was there, was looking forward to enjoying a nice time with my friends out in the bleachers, and was forced to get obnoxiously drunk in order to keep from killing myself.
  20. The Charlins?
  21. As someone who could care less about professional basketball, yes.
  22. I'll check for you. That being said, I hate these sorts of promotions. They always limit the letters so every brick is something like "KSM & MTM luv Cubs!"
  23. & you will still think this if he reverts back to his 02'/03' numbers? that's not going to happen, those were his prime years. yes it could happen then i guess every signing is a good one since theres a chance they could be good or i suppose we could analyze player acquisitions based on whether or not it's at all likely that they're going to be good Man, we should re-sign Sosa. If he reverts to his 02 or 03 form we're looking at a .950 OPS or so
  24. I don't know if this would be considered improper, since I guess I'm "calling you out", but are any of your 1514 posts not made for the direct purpose of being incendiary?
