    Changing goalie isnt going to do crap when your defense isnt bothering to play.

    I think that would be hard to study since most catchers don't get used as a pinch hitter since, A: they may be needed if the starting catcher gets hurt, and B: catchers aren't usually that good hitters in the first place.

    Besides 60-daying Olt and DFAing Villanueva, Beeler is a candidate for the 60-day. Who goes down is another question. Do they send down a pitcher (Schlitter hopefully) or do they send down Alcantara - the only issue with sending down AA is that he is currently their 5th outfielder, but I bet Herrera could fill in in a pinch.

    I'm still not expecting him to be up until July. I think they'll try to avoid super-2 status with him so to not have both Bryant and Russell go to arb at the same time and both for 4 years (both are repped by Boras).

    Man, the officiating today has been really against Chicago. Between this crap, the Cubs and the Sox, what the hell.

    Unfortunately, I think this team is a one and done team with how they're playing. They may face Nashville in the first round, but they can also end up facing the blues. They could also end up facing the Ducks. Blues have clinched the division and can still win the conference. Blues play the Wild, Hawks play the Avs, Ducks play the Coyotes. Blackhawks play the Blues if: Wild win and the Hawks lose in regulation. (Wild and Hawks end up with 102 points, Wild hold tie break) Blackhawks play Nashville if: Hawks win or go to OT or the Wild lose. Blackhawks play Anaheim if: Anaheim and the Hawks lose in Regulation, St Louis goes to OT with Wild but the Wild get the second point. I'm betting the Hawks end up playing the [expletive] Blues.

    Honest thought: Send Szczur to AAA and let him start. See if the adjustment he made makes a long-term difference. If he shows that he can put up good numbers, then start thinking about letting him try to have center next year instead of signing Fowler or somebody else. If he had done this last year, I'd say screw it, let him be in center and see what happens. But not this year.

    They aren't going to cancel a game like that, just fill it with minor leaguers and its fine. I could see Wood or Hendricks starting that game since their first game wouldn't be for a week or so.
