Agree, I'll never understand PH for a guy early in a game, bench is already short, so now you got Tucker who you're trying to give time off to and the catcher with 4 innings to play and a 2 run game. Just let him hit, cause like with Busch the last time I guarentee his spot will come up later against a RHer

They have a 9 game west coast trip against 2 teams under 500 and the worse team record wise after this series, on paper they should win at least 6 of them. Then in September, 25 games, outside of the 7 against the Reds and Mets, the others are all under 500 and basically the bottom of the NL record wise ahead of the Rockies, so none of them are sniffing a playoff shot. So, conservative side no worse then 12-6 against the non playoff contenders. So, even if they just go 4-3 against the Reds and Mets they should on the low side be able to win 20-22 games after this series for over 90 wins total IF they can just get back to playing good baseball again. The schedule is way in their favor as far as teams they play after the Brewers, just need to start playing better baseball and start hitting better.

W. So is Tucker getting the full day off or just this game? If it were my choice, I'd sit him the whole series and have him ready for the west coast trip.

That the difference, Brewers are playing with confidence and just not giving up on games, Cubs are just playing. Brewers are doing what the cubs were doing the first 2-3 months of season, no matter how far behind they just never gave up and had big innings.

Maybe the tide turned for this game, cubs get the big 2 out bases loaded hit and the Brewers get the weak foul pop out. 🤷♂️😅

Right, if this happens in June , nobody even notices because he was hitting well and the team was winning . Because he's struggling and the team is losing, every little thing gets magnified more by fans.

He was still hovering around 72 until some point in July, which could be around the AS break, where I feel something else happened to him or that finger/hand .

I dont think that finger was bothering him that much, especially after the month he had. I think something else happened to him around the AS break, maybe with that finger getting injured again with a pitch that jammed him or something with that hand to make it worse because it has affected his swing and he hasn't looked the same since the break.

Counsell waving the white flag to the Brewers and going to start resting guys more. Happ and Suzuki will probably sit the second game

When all 4 of your OFers has been hitting in the low 200s or below for over a month, there's ZERO reasons not to play someone else over them for a couple games and hope they can provide something positive.

Agree, only thing I can think of is that they were hoping to keep within striking distance before the series and then take the series to make it a race again but they horsefeathers the bed there, especially with yesterday's embarrassment. Like I said yesterday, we'll probably start seeing more guys get extra days off now and certain SP pitches limited to get them healthy and rested for the playoffs. Division is out of reach now, cause it unlikely the Cubs in these final 40 games will play 700 baseball while the Brewers will have to play 300 baseball to catch them. Main focus now is the WC and holding onto that top spot. 4 team battle for 3 spots, I think the cubs will eventually get their heads out of their assess and start stringing some wins together to make the playoffs, after that who knows.

Zero sense of urgency with these guys.. It crazy how the pitching is busting their assess every game but these hitters just look like theyre all ready for the offseason.

He probably asked them not to cause he could play through it. Im gonna guess that maybe depending on how this series goes and where they stand after this weekend series, will determine if they start resting guys more and limiting their top 3 SP and relievers to get them healthy and rested for the end of Season and into the playoffs. Cubs win 4 or sweep and continue to roll through the weekend, then first place is still a target. I think anything less then 4 wins, then it basically changes nothing in the standings and with no more Head to Head against the Brewers the focus will mainly be on the no.1 WC spot and getting guys healthy and rested more. So, if that the case we could see Tucker go on 10 day IL when they head West this weekend if he struggles against the Brewers and they lose 2 or more games, and Caissie will just start for him.
