  1. Phillies released Nick Castellanos I wouldn't mind adding him as DH at a reasonable cost, allow Mo to stay down and work on catching.
  2. I think the Cubs are done adding to the major league roster.
  3. I can see two possible scenarios they can go with outside of the obvious trading a SP... 1. They can start the season with Boyd or Taillon on the IL 2. They can start Horton in Iowa to limit his innings early on
  4. Cardinals going into tank mode, Cubs have zero excuse to not win the Division, Brewers be damn...
  5. Andujar still can be a possibility if the Cubs do trade Shaw to Boston
  6. I'd love to get Kopech, and maybe they can work him back into being a starter again next season, if not, at the very least theyll have a solid, hard throwing late innings guy who can close games with Palencia. He'll be 30 this season
  7. Nats were talking with Giants about Abrams, theyre looking for a big haul for him, just curious what it would take from the Cubs, likely starts with Wiggins. No I don't think the Cubs will engage, just curious as to what the return could be from the Cubs or if they even have enough talent in system to even have that discussion for what the Nats are looking for. Maybe get a 3 way with Nico involved to get prospects to go to the Nats
  8. Cubs are projected to be about 13 mil over the Threshold after Arb settles, hard to feel like they wont spend another 7 mil between now and the deadline that would take them to the next penalty level of 32%. Would TR really pass up an opportunity to improve the roster if someone or two becomes available that can be a difference but will bump them over 20 mil and they'd have to pay an extra 5-7 mil in penalty
  9. Sounds like someone who will be playing in Iowa for awhile to see if he can overcome them injuries and get his swing back. I dont expect to see much of him, at least not for a couple months.
  10. What happened to him the last 2 seasons, was he hurt ir something
  11. Mets about to trade for Peralta per Heyman.. Good for the Cubs, get him out of Division and off of the Brewers
  12. Bellinger signs with Yankees 5/165 opt outs after 2027 and 2028
  13. Does this take Mets out of Bellinger chase https://x.com/i/status/2013828391158391173
  14. I think so unless Jed planning on trading Taillon or Imanaga, which would surprise me a bit.
  15. I dont know, a small part of me still feels like Bellinger a possibility, I know the Yankees 5/160 and Mets 3-4 for either 45-50 per are coming in hot, but Belli is said to be looking for 7 years. With Both Happ and Suzuki both in final years, they could secure an OFer for the next 6-7 years with Bellinger. They can keep Mo down to work on his catching. Amaya/Kelly Busch Hoerner Swanson Bregman Happ PCA Bellinger Suzuki Shaw Austin or Andujar Dean/Alcantara This would be a solid 13...
  16. I was just responding to poster about the 5 yrs, if they can get him for 7 then sure why not. Yea I was thinking 25 per would be too much for the cubs to pay a second basemen only because theyre already invested with Bregman and Swanson and would likely need to pay an OFer that much or more next offseason to replace Happ and or Suzuki. Only 2BMEN making 25 or more per right now are Boegarts(25.4) Altuve(25) and Semien(25), do you feel Hoerner is there with them or more in the Marte range at 19.5?
  17. Why not offer him 5 years ? Unless of course hes looking for something crazy money wise. But I'd offer Hoerner from ages 30-34, a 5 year deal, unless they feel Rojas will be ready in 2 years.
  18. My guess if they keep one it would be Hoerner, he'll just be 30 in 2027. They can keep the entire infield intact through 2029 when Swanson contract ends and slow roll Rojas into taking over who will be 21 this season. Happ will be 33 in 2027, likely be looking for 3-4 yrs and at least over 20 per.. Suzuki will be same age 33, and im sure if he wants to continue playing in the States he'll be looking for same type of contract.
  19. Cubs and Boras supposedly still in discussion about Gallen
  20. Curious, so Shaw bad for associating with Kirk, then is the entire cubs organization and players that are Shaw's friends on the team bad for associating with him? I see Shaw being compared to Hitler and everything evil like Kirk was, so does his teammates and people in the organization that are his friends get hated too?
