I think theres a 50/50 chance they offer it if theres no other/better option, maybe they find a veteran to split time out there with Alcantara. If they feel highly of their 3 top OF prospects in Hartshorn, Conrad, and Kepley, theyll need to bridge a year or so until they're ready to come up.

He said Madlock didn't play here long, Hornsby only played 1 more year (4-3) with the Cubs. Phil Cavarretta won an mvp too, Hornsby was more of a Cardinal than a Cub Im not chirping that Madlock should or shouldn't be on that list, he was just part of names that one could argue could be on it.

Looking at the 150th roster, you can easily see some fans bias leaning into the 2016 team along with other popular players from last 40-50 years. Left out and could arguably belong are.. Cap Anson, Johnny Evers, Phil Cavarretta, Bill Madlock, Rick Reuschel, Hippo Vaughan, Claude Passeau, Zambrano Hornsby was more a Cardinals than a Cubs

Next 13 games will give us a good idea if Milwaukee can be caught or not, despite being 7 back now. 7 against the Brewers, 3 Reds, 3 Miami Brewers will also play 3 Reds, 3 Rangers So, both will have the Reds and play a team trying to get into the WC, Rangers still have a shot at 1st in Division. Cubs will probably need to win 6 of the 7 against the Brewers, and be within 3 games to have a legit shot at catching them the final 15 games of season.

If they have any sort of an offseason, i just hope Hoyer puts his big boy pants on and goes out and brings in some quality arms for the rotation, either thru trades or FA. Right now they have more question marks with guys returning from injuries then they have settled into a spot. Steele, coming off of elbow surgery Cabrera, coming off a down year Brown, unsure with the neck/vertebrae injury Assad Garrett, coming back from elbow surgery Wicks, not good Horton, likely out til August Wiggins Holmes, you hope can get extended or picks up his option
