  1. This was why I had mentioned at PSD before the AS break, if they should make deals sooner rather then waiting til deadline in case they struggle and lose whatever value they have. Stroman gonna need to get his horsefeathers together if they're gonna have any chance of winning the Division.
  2. I was about to write let get at least 1 back here... Swanson
  3. Let kick ass now that theyre buyers and take this division...
  4. Here we go, if they're buyers now, let kick butt and win this series and take this division
  5. Just figured they'd keep Kay as he the only current lefty they have on roster and add another with him, I guess Assad or Palencia can go back down
  6. Trade Marquez, Mervis, and Davis for Ohtani 😅
  7. They obviously need another lefty in pen and an upgraded arm there too. I'm guessing of the ones they have currently, Fulmer and Rucker may be the odd man out
  8. Cubs got cash consideration in the deal too, so they're probably still close to the 5 mil under the Threshold. I'd prefer Mancini to go but have to guess Wisdom may be on the who wants him list, only because of the position played.
  9. Not sexy but as a SH he will give them a needed power bat/ run producer in middle of lineup and much improve defense at 3B.
  10. Did anyone hear the guy on ESPN1000 this morning ask Kapman and Jesse Rogers if Candelario would be much of an upgrade over Madrigal 😅
  11. Be nice if they can extend him.. They obviously aren't selling after this move, so hopefully they'll extend Bellinger too.
  12. https://twitter.com/jonmorosi/status/1686143648008646656?t=Wb1Z3mSZZyr_wyOYv9Cz4w&s=19
  13. I dont wanna hijack this page with my question, just a conversation til the game starts..
  14. Because it unlikely they do anything worthwhile via trades( 5 mil below threshold) to improve the team significantly enough to make noise in the playoffs if they somehow do pass up the Brewers and Reds ( who could add).. Then what, especially if they dont bring Bellinger and Stroman back. Most of these players on current rosters will be gone within the next 1-3 seasons, so wouldn't it be better if they sold who they can for younger ready/near ready talent then to stay pat besides adding what will likely be a couple of rentals just to try and win a weak division? For the record, I hope they keep and extend Bellinger, and yes it would be great to see them win the division but I just feel it wouldn't be worth the ride if they lose guys and have nothing or nothing much in return
  15. So, gotta ask since it seems most on here that I've seen are basically looking for the Cubs to add what they can and try to win a weak division. My question is, if they stand pat and not trade Stroman, Bellinger, etc and just add a couple relievers and maybe a bat to try for the division, will you be pissed and or regret them not selling when/if they start losing a few series and fall further back of Brewers/Reds in the next weeks/month ?
  16. Yep, and as of now, cubs don't have a lineup out yet.
  17. What kind of trade ? Significant/Major one would likely be in offseason. Minor/bandaid one would likely be tomorrow
  18. Couple of things worth watching.. How long Stroman pitches, if he does make his start, who not in the lineup tonight and of course the hug watch or who gets taken out of game early. Off topic.. PCA just got promoted to AAA today
  19. Decent start from Hendricks today if teams decide to make offers for him.
  20. I hope they extend him after the deadline, he young enough to be a big part of the future that could actually contend for a WS, build around him.
  21. They have a chance but that about all they might do, and then what ? They're not winning the WS with this roster, they now don't have the extra prospects in their system that could be a part of their near future roster. Yes it great They're beating up on the Cardinals the last week and beat the Whitesox to get themselves above 500, but do you really think theyre gonna play above 500 ball the rest of way? They're not winning the WS and the majority of this roster won't be a part of this team in 2-3 seasons, so there no point in keeping it together just to hope to win a crappy division and then be even further behind in the rebuild after the season.
