  1. I'd like to see them buy younger ready to play now prospects and sell the guys that has no part in their future and they can get good prospects for
  2. I agree with you, my thing was he could of gone at least 1 more and continued as long as he was pitching well. No reason Smyly couldn't come in the 5th, 6th, or 7th if Wesneski was shutting them down.
  3. No reason to pull Wesneski after 2 innings, he was pitching well and could of gone 1 more...
  4. Yep, for me with looking ahead to remainder of season, I'd like to see with Steele, Wesneski, and one or two others from the system to finish in the rotation the rest of season to see if they can be a part of it next season.
  5. Given that the majority of this roster more then likely wont be on this team after this season or next two, itll have very little affect.
  6. I just hope that Hoyer truly believes they have a great opportunity to not just make the playoffs but win too, hate to see them stay as is, or just add a couple minor upgrades, only to dip back under 500 by mid August or to be a one and done in the postseason.
  7. I dont know, I just feel like if they stand pat or just add a couple of guys, it still won't be enough. I just feel like they have another bad streak or two left in them that'll knock them out of any playoff hope
  8. What Stroman has done the last 10 years has no bearing on what he has done lately, no team gonna give up more for a guy who been struggling his last 6 or 7 starts based on what he done in the past. Cubs aren't going to get as good a value for him now, then they would of gotten for him 3-4 starts ago.
  9. I had mentioned at PSD before the break that maybe Hoyer should consider trading guys sooner rather then later to avoid bad starts before the deadline. Stroman value has been declining rapidly this month plus...
  10. I do, I think he does or will do what Hoyer asks, I don't see Hoyer asking him to do much though.
  11. I was just gonna say the same thing, we've been see him alot lately.
  12. I just feel the only way he returns is if they decide next season will be a transition year and they go with a couple of their younger SP plus Taillon, and Hendricks is there to be that vet SP to help them along with limited starts and pass the torch. (sorta speak)
  13. I'm only guessing, but if Hoyer does decide they're more pretenders then contenders after beating a couple of down teams in the Sox and Cardinals, he has 3 players he can move and get decent returns for in Bellinger, Stroman, and Hendricks.
  14. Tonight could be Hendricks last start as a Cub, and tomorrow could be Stroman last start.
  15. Yea, that a big reason why I haven't watched much Sox games the last few years, I couldn't stand Harrelson and Stone seems to be declining alot on the mic. For the record, I'm not a fan of Boog either
  16. Gotta feeling if they sweep the Sox and take 3 of 4 from the Cards again, we may see the Cubs stay as is and probably just add a couple upgrade to the roster. 3B, relievers, maybe a SP
  17. Right, he needs to have a high OBP and that starts with his batting average because he doesn't walk much.. he just not a guy you want on a contending team, he useful for a team rebuilding or going through the motion of putting a team together.
  18. Late to the party here today.. So, what next for Smyly next start, use 2 openers so he don't have to come in until the 5th inning 🙄🙄🤣 Safe to say I doubt any contending team gonna be offering up much if anything for this guy, if they do get an offer they better take it and save themselves over 11 mil..
  19. I didn't notice a minor league thread to put this, but I just saw Brailyn Marquez stats so far for 2023, and it looks impressive. 8 games between Rookie ball and AA, 2 starts, 34 Batters Faced, 8+ IP, 4 hits, 1 R, 0 ER, 4 BB, 10Ks I'd love to see this guy finally stay healthy and be a part of the roster next season
  20. Pretty weird how they would have Fulmer start as an opener considering he struggled today.
  21. We'll likely not see Contreras tomorrow and maybe Sunday 🤷‍♂️
