  1. One thing I definitely like is that if they are looking like serious WS contenders by the deadline and there a top player or two that can help put them over, they will have plenty of prospects depth to make a big trade.
  2. I think the Cubs are done with adding bats now that Bellinger is back. If they add any more players I think it will be a LH bullpen pitcher
  3. Basically we're looking at Amaya, Busch, and Morel being the unknown of the lineup with the DH spot. Those guys need to be somewhat productive to help out the others in the lineup. Gomes/Amaya Busch Hoerner Swanson Morel Happ Bellinger Suzuki Wisdom RH DH Mervis/Smith/Peralta LH DH Mastrobuoni Tauchman
  4. Bellinger and Cubs 3 yrs 80 mil, opt out after first 2 years Glad he's back, Hoyer won this standoff, another short term deal with Cody likely opting out if he has another good season. Just very surprised no other team would at least offer more years
  5. Cactus League Champions isnt just nothing 😏😏
  6. Probably right, he might even be a trade asset at some point.
  7. Cubs pitching is definitely going to be their strength this season, the depth should be pretty good.
  8. Right, it's not like CF is being blocked by Tauchman now, I think if there no Bellinger then whether it Davis or not, CF is going to be open for someone to take over at any point during the season.
  9. Any chance if Davis has a really good ST and they dont add Bellinger he could get a chance to start opening day ?
  10. Weren't the Dodgers or Padres complaining about how thin the pants were that you could see through them the other day ?
  11. He signing guys to minimal deals in years, that who he can flip if he wants, he not really looking to sign guys for long term to maybe trade in 2-3 yrs. They've been sitting on money the last 3 seasons, they're about 30 mil under now, I dont expect them to spend anymore then 20 of that if they do add another bat and or arm this offseason.
  12. I dont disagree with you, I just feel this is the route Jed is taking. I think he's trying to replicate 2015 in some ways with a big difference being that they have more young pitching in system and they have more young talented depth throughout. But, I think he has his eyes on the OF talent they have in system to go along with Shaw as far as position players goes.
  13. My stand was signing guys long term, outside of Swanson none of those guys were long term signings that will keep any of these kids from coming up and playing When and If they will be ready. Mervis had an opportunity last season, didn't do well. Amaya got his opportunity and has stuck. Morel came up last season and is now going to get a shot at 3B. This season we will probably see a few more get opportunities. Peralta and Or Smith will likely get a shot early on, but again they're not long term and can be easily dropped if they decide to go with a kid at the start or later in season like last season when they bounced Hosmer, Mancini, and Barnhardt for Mervis, Morel, and Amaya.
  14. They did, Peralta and Smith.. They may sign another but it won't be anyone that'll get a long term deal.. I'm holding out hope for Bellinger but ....
  15. Iowa Cubs going to be a fun watch this season with all the bats they have.
  16. You see an actual plan outside of the young kids ? I've been thinking/saying since last offseason that I felt they were going to look and go with these kids over signing FA to long term deals (Swanson aside) of 4+ yrs. PCA, Morel, Mervis, Canairo, Amaya, Alcantara, Shaw, Busch, etc ., we're going to be seeing alot of these guys this season, not sure if we're going to see any current FA signed for 4+ yrs.
  17. Young guys looking good.. I'm standing on my thoughts that theyre going to be giving these kids all the opportunities over signing FA to long term deals.
  18. I'm predicting a Bellinger signing today with the Cubs... https://twitter.com/CHGO_Cubs/status/1761065124708921547?t=7CsSHQrE-BaePezmAm6Syg&s=19
  19. Was thinking the same
  20. He's been trying to get this guy for a couple years now 😅
  21. Cubs agree with David Peralta on a non roster deal.. More basement bargain signing
  22. I said this last offseason and I'll say it again, Hoyer/Ricketts is looking to do what they did in 2015, 2016 with the prospects. They're not going to give out multi year deals over 4+ years to position players ( Swanson aside) until he sees what he has with the prospects that are ready/near ready. Happ, Hoerner, and Suzuki are the only other position players signed pass this season through 2026. We'll be seeing PCA, Caissie, Shaw, Alcantara, Busch, Triantos, etc.... this season and next season up with the Cubs with Morel, Amaya, and Canairo. I personally am not expecting any big FA signing for a couple seasons.
  23. Im expecting Bellinger to do a Dexter Fowler and walk out onto the field during practice..lol
  24. It's time to talk about some Spring Training stuff and games...
  25. Moral needs a position other then DH to get his bat in the lineup everyday, and with 3B being pretty much the only one without a guy who can take it over, that a spot Moral can try and win and make his during ST. I can see Counsell using the DH spot more for Wisdom and getting the bench ABs with matchups.
