  1. probably at the deadline, Morel could be the guy used to get a TOR pitcher that will likely become available then.
  2. Why do they need to trade for a young SP this offseason? They have a couple of young guys that are ready or close to it in their system now.
  3. Ok but getting Bellinger also means they don't need to rush PCA up in 2024 and when he is ready, Bellinger can play 1B, LF, RF, or DH in the upcoming seasons. So adding Bellinger wouldn't be blocking PCA.
  4. I think the BlueJays with their recent moves are pulling themselves out of any major signings.
  5. Then what is it ? What changed from August to October that has fans wanting to trade him now ?
  6. I don't know why everyone is in such a hurry to trade PCA now, he went from being the future to being trade bait in a matter of a couple months because of going hitless in 14 AB.
  7. Another silent night from the Cubs transaction room...
  8. Dodgers better hope for no injuries and that these guys play up to their contracts..
  9. I wouldn't mind them bringing back the Friday 3:05 starts. I always got a kick out of Harry and Stone talking about how they needed to get the lead for Lee Smith to come in with the Shadows ..lol
  10. I just saw something about How Ricketts won't be at the Convention, and the more I think about him not being there, the more I feel that the Cubs won't be adding any players of significance this offseason. I mean, why else would he back out of not being able to gloat about any new or returning (Bellinger) player of high value and recieve the praises of spending on these players. Only makes sense that he just avoiding the wrath of fans and media asking why aren't they adding to payroll to compete and take over very winnable division now ? Yep, I can see a couple of low cost/years additions to bridge the gap between the rise of some prospects.
  11. Cubs seem to be in on everyone until the first team makes an offer to pass what they would offer. Have they actually met with a FA yet ?
  12. I didn't, I've been saying that it likely that the plan may be to see more of what they have in the system with all the guys now that are ready and near ready this season. Like Carter already admitted, they dont want to block their young prospects with long term commitments. They have 3 positions that are open.. 1B, 3B, and CF 1B prospect: Mervis, McGeary 3B prospect: BJ Murray CF prospect: PCA, Kevin Alcantara If they bring anyone new in for either of those 3 positions , it'll likely be short term bridge players.
  13. TR will stay in hiding until they actually win something again. Reminds me of Rocky Wirtz, once they stopped winning, we fans didn't see much of him like when they were winning.
  14. My prediction 😅 Gomes/Almora Mervis/ Belt Hoerner Swanson Brian Anderson/ Madrigal/Wisdom Happ Bader/Tauchman/ Morel Suzuki
  15. Watch the cubs bring Stroman back on a cheap deal because nobody else wants to pay him and the other starters are out of the cubs price range or trade range. Lol
  16. Sometimes I think he really dont have any plan except to wait it out until the least wanted are left.
  17. Michael Wacha 2 yrs Royals
  18. Cubs way.... Bargain shopping before the clock strikes midnight
  19. Dodgers get Glasnow
  20. PCA, Mervis, Caissie, Alcantara, Brown, Wicks, Canairo, McGeary, BJ Murray, Davis, Vazquez, Kilian, Little, Hodge, Aliendo, Franklin.... All with ETA of 2023 and 2024. Here a crazy what IF .. What if Hoyer/Carter plan for 2024 is to play their young guys throughout the season and see who ready to stay up. They dont sign anyone to a big multi year contract, just short deals, and instead of trading their top prospects, they play them all or the ones that force their way up. Next offseason, theyll have more then enough money to go after Soto and another top player , theyll have a good idea about a few of their kids, who to trade, who to keep. Outside pf possibly bringing Bellinger back, I think this could be their plan to fill in 1B, CF, and 3B this coming season. Go with the young arms in the rotation and bullpen
  21. I just never let myself get overly excited about the offseason with the cubs because I just dont expect them to make big moves. If they do, then I'll be happy, like with the Counsell hiring, if not, then it just buisness as usual on the Northside. I think Carter Hawkins kinda spilled the beans a bit on what their plan is for this offseason when he mentioned about not blocking certain prospects with new additions. Cubs basically need a 1B, 3B, and CF as far as position players goes, they dont really have a guy outside of Mervis for 1B, so they can get a quality bat there. They do have Shaw and a couple other SS that could possibly move to 3B and PCA for CF, so the most likely scenario for those two spots this offseason is to add a 1 or 2 yr bridge player to fill in til they're ready.
  22. I hope I'm around in 10 years to see how the Dodgers wiggle out of having Ohtani 68 mil not go towards the Tax Threshold for the 10 yrs. he sitting at home collecting that money. Also will be interesting to see if teams start to use that more with future FA
  23. Bellinger and a TOR pitcher would be enough to likely run that division. Would like to see them also add a LH bat to platoon with Wisdom at DH. A true closer and a 1Bmen I wouldn't mind Morel taking over 3B from the start of ST and see how it goes
  24. Right, add a bullpen arm or a bench guy, something that shows he actually on the phone and talking to people. 😅
