  1. Reds declined Votto option, if he doesn't retire, i know he 40 but any interest in grabbing him on a 1 yr deal to be the LH DH, but mostly grab him to be in the dugout/clubhouse with the young players. Also wouldn't mind having a guy like him as a hitting coach or bench coach if he's interested in doing that
  2. As far as starters currently on the roster goes for 2024.. Steele, Taillon, Wicks, Assad, Wesneski, and Smily Hendricks Club option Brown,Kilian, Franklin in AAA Stroman and Heyward money off book now, they have about 43 mil extra to spend from that, Bellinger and another TOR SP could fill up that money
  3. He'll get more then the 1 year, may not get 21 mil, but at age 33 in 2024, if he can get himself say 3 yrs at 18 per, he ahead. This is why I hoped and figured he might opt out, looking for that last multi year deal. I'm glad Jed didn't extend him.
  4. my wish came true.....
  5. I'd love to have Ohtani, but if it means having Ohtani and a bunch of cheap lesser players because of Ohtani cost and Ricketts wanting to stay under the Threshold, then I'd prefer to split Ohtani money towards upgrading other positions. My hope for this offseason will be to see them keep Bellinger, add another under 30 quality bat, add an under 30 TOR type SP, and at least 1 strong bullpen arm. I just wanna see progress in their roster to where we can at least see them being successful all season and hopeful for the next couple seasons because of their systems talent are starting to come up and they'll be able to upgrade where needed via trades and future FA.
  6. Let the offseason begin.. Congrats to the Rangers, was hoping they'd win their first championship. https://www.bleachernation.com/cubs/2023/11/02/mlb-dates-deadlines/

  8. Just saw that the Cubs won't be bringing Fulmer back and he'll be a FA... Fine by me, I think they have some good young arms for the pen in theirsystem, and hopefully they can add 1 or 2 upgrades via trade or FA.
  9. Wouldn't shock me if he did opt out.. Sure he'd be giving up on 21 Mil guarenteed for 2024, but at 33, he might be wanting to take a shot at getting signed for a 2+ year deal even if it for 18-20 per. to end his career on.
  10. Yes get rid of the group you have there if he can, and If Hoyer wants to keep Madrigal and Tauchman for depth in AAA that fine. The 9 ARB guys are Steele, Alzolay, Wisdom, Madrigal, Leiter, Merryweather, Tauchman, Burdi, Heuer I wasn't breaking down the whole roster of who to keep or not, that why I didn't mention the others, just a couple of option players and the ARB players. Amaya, Cuas, Morel, Wicks, Assad, Wesneski etc they're not ARB eligible yet. Gomes will likely be back.. Fulmer a FA, they can do better there Candelario, id like for him to be back if they can't add someone better Boxberger gonna be 37, they can add someone better and younger
  11. If Hoyer smart and wants to upgrade his talent on the field, he won't bring Hendricks back and he'll trade Stroman if he opts back in, even if he has to eat some salary. Of the 9 Arb guys, Steele, Merryweather and Alzolay should be the only ones to return. Bellinger has a mutual option for 25M, hopefully both sides can work something out and he returns. Hoyer should look to trade Taillon, Smily, and Happ. Even if he has to eat money, he'll still be saving some. I would love to see Hoyer be more proactive and bring in good young talent either from within or outside to the major league roster, over basically staying with mostly what he has already and adding veteran washouts on 1 or 2 year deals.
  12. I dislike the first 2 months of the offseason because I'm just not a fan of rumors in which 99% are just guesses and false. Get me to the winter meetings in December when movements starts to happen more frequently afterwards. Also, I hope they work with Morel at 3B over the winter in case they don't land one of the better 3Bmen, this way too they can look to add more of a known slugging type DH.
  13. They had a very good July and August that gave them a shot at the postseason but lack of depth and injuries brought them down in the final month. I dont expect them to do a whole lot this offseason and will mainly look in-house (prospects) as additions to the roster along with low cost/years options via FA and trades. Ross will be back for at least 1 more season and we'll probably be looking at close to the same results record wise.
  14. I'll watch here and there while watching the bears.
  15. Lotta work to do this offseason with pitching (bullpen) and getting the corner infield situated. Also, be interesting to see if pitchers that were on IL most to all season will be ready to go in ST or at some point next season. Marquez, Heuer, Roberts, Burdick, Hughes, Wieck, Carraway
  16. We're talking about Hoyer and the Cubs here. Candelario not gonna get offered a big contract from anyone, he'll at most get a 3 yr deal. I'm not hoping he returns, again just saying I wouldn't bet against it.
  17. I was just saying, there is a chance he does return. He can play both CI and DH, and if he wants to return, I think both sides will come to an agreement easily.
  18. There 3 positions he can fill.. 1B 3B CF, unless he moves someone else. Unlikely he brings in a long term CFer with PCA and other OFers in system, there a very good chance he makes Candelario an offer to return, especially considering they don't really have strong options there. Yes, it likely they look outside for a 1Bmen but other then that, as far as starters goes, I don't see anything else really happening unless he trades Happ, or Suzuki
  19. He did bring Wisdom back, so it not crazy to think he won't try to bring Candelario back. What out there for 1B that a FA
  20. Outside of Mervis, there is a chance they bring Candelario back and start PCA.. I personally think PCA will start in Iowa
  21. I know what they need, it's just a matter of will they look outside to get it via trades or FA, or stay in house as far as position players goes.
  22. So, if they dont bring Bellinger back or spend big money, is this pretty much what we're gonna see next season as far as position players goes, I gotta feeling theyll bring Candelario back. Gomes, Amaya Mervis Hoerner Swanson Candelario Happ PCA Suzuki
  23. Didn't realize Hoyer shares his plans with Kap and already made his decision, especially since PCA hasn't shown much up here and will likely start the season in Iowa
  24. I wouldn't be surprise if both the Marlins and the Reds end up ahead of the cubs when it's over.
