Yes this sucks but I still think if Hoyer brings in the expected upgrades, the Cubs will win the Division. There's still that 5 game series in Chicago against the Brewers in mid August, and everything will look a whole lot better for the Cubs after that series.

I said last outing for Rea that they were just pressing their luck with Rea and it finally looking like it ran out. Same with Pressly, he garbage and should never be brought into a close game. I was told I was wrong about both 🤷♂️ Shame this team came to Milwaukee flat and looking like crap. Maybe Counsell needs to go off on them in the clubhouse if there's no true leader amongst the players to light a fire under them.

They really aren't.. His walks are way up but everything else has dropped cause they're giving him nothing good to hit. 10 hits and 12 walks in last 15 games

What the Brewers are getting with Vaughn was and is the type of impact player the Cubs needed to get when July rolled around and 3B was still very questionable, They still need that player now whether it a hitter, pitcher, or both, just someone to give them that spark even like when they got Castellanos.

In past years we seen teams getting out in front of the deadline mostly so they can get the couple extra starts from the SP in July, but recently we dont see that much anymore because of all the teams still sorta alive for a WC spot. Plus, teams that were sellers in the past were more aggressive to sell much earlier then they are now because of fear of not getting a better return if they waited because buyers wanted guys earlier, nowadays it just the complete opposite. Also something to consider with Hoyer, maybe because of not having that extension he might have been hesitant or told not to trade away certain prospects, there has to be a reason for the timing of this extension to have been done now.

Maybe he just didn't want to overpay with guys like Caissie and Wiggins to get guys a couple weeks ago and figured they were in good enough position to wait it out, and who knows, maybe the guys he is prioritizing just weren't made available yet by their team who may have wanted to wait to see if they can make a run and or get better offers closer to the deadline. I get frustrated too at the waiting for him to do something and sending out the same players to basically fail at what they're supposed to do, I just hope now that we're 2 days away, he got is extension, that he is allowed to add to payroll and can bring in a couple players that will make an instant impact for this team going forward and we'll all be very happy 😊
