  1. Basically how it's been if you go back to 1984. 84, 89, 93, 98, 01, 03, 04, 07, 08, 09, 15, 16, 17, 18, 19, 23 So in the last 40 seasons, they have been over 500 16 times to compete or somewhat be competitive. I guess 12 times in the last 24 should have us fas ecstatic compared to how it was pre 2000. 😅
  2. Way to say thank you, at most they put out 81 grand..
  3. What long term prospect of success will they have with Bellinger, Happ and or Hoerner finishing out their contracts? Unless Rickett allows Hoyer to spend a bit more on top FA and or trade for stud players that a team looking to move on from their salary and go over the Threshold, this team is not having any type of valuable success in the next 2 seasons when those contracts expire. Might as well try and get future pieces for them now over holding onto them and get nothing later. At the very least they will then have future access and some extra money available to spend.
  4. I think some of you look too much into these metric stats with these players and ignoring the performance you're actually seeing on the field. These stats are fun to look at but they don't always truly show how these guys are performing on a daily basis. We're just over halfway through the season and people are looking at some of these stats and saying how they are still on pace to be this type of player and finish the season good. Oh great we could get a decent August and September out of guys when it's too late for the team , but hey their stats will look OK. No, these are the type of guys you need to move because they can't perform when it counts on a consistent basis.
  5. With the way the season is going now for the cubs, id rather they just keep him down and just slowly build him back up and then in like September, bring him up and let him get like 10-20 innings under his belt. Just get him healthy and ready for next season
  6. Problem with the Cubs has been the same as I remember since the Tribune owned and Frey was GM. they could never sustain a productive farm system, they waited too long to move on from veteran players, they offer too many years and money to mid FA, and they only go after a top star player when they are in their 30s and on decline. They did it right a couple times but they failed to find a way to keep the roster competitive for multiple years and keep a window open longer because like I said above, they held onto guys too long and couldn't get good trade value for them or lose them for nothing, or they tied up their money into mid/bad FA for too long and couldn't dip into the FA pool or trades for upgrades or younger stars that cost.
  7. They may end up there anyways with some of the young talent they do have that are ready or near ready. They either have to start playing them up or trade them for mlb talent. Ballesteros, Shaw, Triantos, Caissie , Alcantara, Rojas, C.Franklin, etc. These guys are going to eventually need to be promoted up within the next year or two, so some sort of rebuilding or just being alot younger will happen. Hopefully Hoyer or a new pres/gm will find a way to mix both the better prospects and solid vets like they did in 2015/16 again.
  8. I don't disagree with you.. But they only do this (big market team) if Rickett puts an end to not wanting to constantly stay under the Threshold or they find a Pres/GM that knows how to build a team around 1 or 2 high cost superstars with a mix of homegrown talent and reasonably priced talent ( not dumpster bargains) .
  9. If they can trade any position players on this current roster they should do it. They're not winning any championship this season and unless they plan on and actually adding any significant FA in the offseason to improve both the offense and bullpen, theyre not winning next season either. Just add any assets possible this deadline and offseason with guys under contract Happ, Hoerner, Bellinger, Suzuki, Swanson ( hard to do unless they eat $$) and go into 2025 with the focus on getting guys like Caissie, Shaw, Ballesteros, and whomever else ready for 2026. 2025 offseason, put the focus into the best FA needed to fill out the roster.
  10. What was Steele blowup about, what happened on the field.. People are only posting him yelling but not saying why
  11. It year one with a makeshift roster, talk to us in year 3
  12. I'm in Iowa tonight and tomorrow watching the Iowa cubs.. Riley Thompson went into the 7th with a no no before giving up a solo shot.. Up 2-1
  13. The actual Cubs game don't start til the 7th inning, I mean seriously it like whatever they do the first 6 innings whether it the SP pitching a QS or bats scoring some runs means nothing. It seems to always come down to whether the relievers can hold or keep a game close and if the bats can manage to put together any more runs
  14. Kid can keep his OBP up to at least 320 over his career, he'll be successful
  15. Why they need to keep PCA up, he may not be hitting much but anytime he reaches base his speed can turn into a run.
  16. Already there, wasn't it fun watching Happ think he had PCA speed and try to score from first on a bloop single 😅
  17. I was told bench guys don't matter 🤷‍♂️
  18. Get good bullpen but not enough offense Lol
  19. Did they lose yet 🤷‍♂️🤦‍♂️🙄
  20. This team has sucked with or without PCA in the lineup, he's definitely not the weak link here. It doesn't matter whether it him or another AAA player in the lineup over him if the others just aren't getting the job done either, and then there's the issues with the bullpen and trying to hold a lead or keep a game close from the 7th inning on. This team just don't have what it takes to win and win consistently, and if it weren't for the SP they would be almost as bad as the Whitesox record wise. They have a few good position players, but for whatever reason they all seem to be having more and longer cold streaks then hot ones or even just average ones and that along with a weak bullpen has killed them since April. IMO, this season is over as far as hoping to win the Division or World Series, there no miracle second half run with this group and I highly doubt Rickett will give the ok to add to the payroll with the type of players they will need to help carry them there. What I think they should do come August and September is bring up the kids like Ballesteros, Caissie, maybe even Shaw, and whomever else and get a look at them for 2025.
  21. Almost like someone saw this collapse coming..🤔🤔
  22. I think he and Happ(NTC) may just wave it if it to a team of their liking and gives them an opportunity to win and go to the postseason.
  23. So, how does are team lose this game? Hendricks sucks, no offense, blow lead late 2 of 3, or all 3 🤷‍♂️🙄🙄🙄
  24. Canario will be with team tonight, no word on counter move.
