  1. Im just thinking here but maybe Bregman just dont want to go back to Houston or play in Detroit and just waiting on the Cubs who just may be trying to get a trade done for Nico before finalizing a deal with Bregman. Maybe Tucker and Pressly has convinced him to join them in Chicago 🤷‍♂️ Moving Nico who is owed 11.5 this season and add someone like Michael King who owed 4 mil this season, can give the Cubs and extra 7.5 towards using on Bregman and or maybe towards another reliever. It possible they can be trying get a 3rd team involved on this
  2. I dont have a problem trading Nico and his remaining 2 yrs on his deal if they sign Bregman, but I dont want prospects for Nico either, I prefer if they do trade him, they get at least a middle of the rotation type SP for him or better if they have to add a prospect. The Cubs lineup could use a change and added punch outside of just adding Tucker and Shaw. Adding both Bregman and Tucker to the middle of the lineup would or should add alot of punch to the order and would also help guys like Swanson, Happ, and Suzuki get better pitches to hit with those 2 protecting them.
  3. We might still get them as JD fill ins 🤷‍♂️🙄
  4. Id like to see him take over full time once Boog contract is over, but I'm glad they finally settled into one person and it him to do it now.
  5. There's a couple Bregman thread listed, I just happen to look in the free agent transactions one here since he's a free agent and didn't see anything here and posted it for anyone else who like me tends to try and stay in the same thread/forum and post, over going to a bunch of different ones everytime I check in throughout the day. It really not that big a deal, just scroll pass it if you seen it on one of the other thread in another forum. It just one square box in here out of hundreds
  6. Who says i don't enjoy it here ? I looked at the other forum and topic and haven't seen anything, where is this being discussed at ? You do see certain topics being discussed in multiple places at different times, I bet you'll find a conversation involving Bregman in more then 1 or 2 threads.
  7. Gotta think a Bregman decision will be coming before the weekend
  8. Problem is, there are many different threads and forums on Cubs discussions, im just not one that going to read through all of them to see if someone posted something i just read about on X. Cubs discussions, Cubs transactions, Cubs news, Cubs this, Cubs that and you'll find basically the same conversations in all of them. I try to stay in the same forum/thread and if you seen or discussed it elsewhere then bypass it, if not and it the first you seen if it then great now you know.
  9. Not sure if this was posted.. “Sources have confirmed that the Cubs have offered Alex Bregman a four-year contract, with opt-outs, worth north of $100 million,” Jacob Zanolla of Cubs Insider reported. The news of the offer came shortly after Astros general manager Dana Brown shared some harsh comments about the likelihood of Bregman returning to the team as his free agency wears on. "During his address at the team's annual media luncheon, Dana Brown twice spoke about Alex Bregman in the past tense, saying once that the team ‘lost Bregman,'" according to The Athletic's Chandler Rome.
  10. Lisa just mentioned it, so it officially official now...lol https://x.com/Lisa_L_Dubbs/status/1887265192054300832?s=19
  11. Cubs and Bregman today ????
  12. Id love to see them upgrade to but yea, I think Kelly, Berti, Workman, and they'll likely start with Canario as the 4th OFer. Bench is always interchangeable all season and hardly the same from beginning to end of season, I just think theyll use their organization depth for now to start the season with, but i hope I'm wrong on that and grab someone that has some power and can be like a Zobrist type that can fit into the lineup anytime and contribute. A oart of me just think if they do spend anymore money of significant this offseason, it'll be on pitching as in another SP or bullpen upgrades.
  13. I think theyre set with position players. I like to see them add another lefty to the bullpen, im not to high on Theilbar, hopefully he can find his 2022,23 form but at 38 it'll be tough. I just hope that if Hoyer doesn't add anyone of significant like a SP or another solid addition to the pen and stays 25+ under the Threshold heading into the season, he better not be bashful taking on money at the deadline that can help upgrade a position or two.
  14. If they want Shaw I'll pass, im not giving up Shaw for 1 year of Cease(FA).
  15. Mets are in discussion with Padres for Cease now.
  16. Scherzer going to Toronto
  17. Would Hoyer really trade Hoerner or is Hoerner hurt more then they're letting on and don't expect him back for awhile?
  18. Dodgers got Yates 1yr deal
  19. Im just guessing on money to get close to 20 mil spent, it definitely can be much less, especially if they do work out a trade for King. I think Hoyer could still be looking to add relievers, if not 2 then definitely 1. Merryweather and Pearson can be moved, maybe one gets added in, if they make a deal with the Padres.
  20. They got down to 40, I was hoping there was a trade in the making to get there but I guess not. Starting to look the position players are set with the regular 9 with Shaw at 3B, and Kelly, Workman, Berti, and likely Canario as the bench. Right now they're about 33 under the Threshold, so if there's any more new additions, I'd be surprise if they spend more then 20-23 total, so I'm looking at 1 SP and 5mil or less reliever or 2 5+mil relievers.
  21. I heard on radio this morning that they are in talks with the Padres on him. Getting him would be great, but that another good player they will spend assets on in a trade for 1 year(FA) of him.
  22. Whichever way it goes, I think Hoyer done adding SP for now. I personally do prefer Assad in the bullpen and as a spot starter when needed, I think he's much better and helps the team more coming out of the pen.
  23. Hoyer should get Andrew Chafin, he a LH that they need and would be the final piece for that bullpen. They definitely need a guy on the bench with power, i don't know how much more of an upgrade Workman and Berti are over Mastrobuoni and Wisdom, can't be much if any. I dont think Hoyer looking for another SP, I think he set with Assad at 5 and if needed Rea and other depth in AAA for now. He'll wait til the deadline to address a SP upgrade if needed, which is why if they stay 10+ mil under the threshold going into the season, I'll be ok with that only if they use it at the deadline to upgrade where needed to contend for and in playoffs.
  24. Combined trades this offseason: Cubs get - Kyle Tucker, Ryan Pressly Astros get - Isaac Paredes, Cam Smith, Hayden Wesneski, Juan Bello With Tucker and Pressly being FA after the season, I hope we're not sitting here at this time next year with none of of these players on the roster. They gotta extend Tucker
