  1. I'm curious how much of this is Sanchez being a particular tough on lefties matchup and how much of this is a softening of the "Michael Busch is going to play every day" pre-season plan
  2. I think I might have fallen into the same trap with Hendricks two years ago so I'm not full throated on this, but I think I'm more encouraged by the extra bats Taillon is missing than I am discouraged by everything else.
  3. I don't know what the exact splits are but feels like he puts the ball on the ground a ton RHH. Pretty much the one nit to pick with him to this point.
  4. I think with hitters it's a bit tougher to skip a level, but yeah they probably need to be aggressive in moving him up.
  5. Speaking of old minor league rookies turning into a thing
  6. I was literally coming here to ask about velo This feels like a situation worth monitoring
  7. Yeah if he's still doing this as we get closer to 70 games rather than 7 he belongs on the "you can get there on your fingers and toes" part of a top prospect list.
  8. Yeah, power's especially streaky though I'm not too worried about that until we get a good bit deeper.
  9. It is understandably not going to get nearly as much ink, but Eli Lovich I see you
  10. Hartshorn through 7 games: 37 PAs, 10 BB, 1 K, 3 XBH, 6 swings and misses Insanity
  11. It'd be really cool if Owen Ayers just breezed through A+. As the age relative to league obsessed guy 25 years old at AA is not ideal but for a catcher it at least stops giving me the ick.
  12. Great night for Naz. Wheat actually threw strikes in his first inning and started getting my hopes up as well, but his second inning went back to form.
  13. Maton said something about his mechanivs veing out of wack and it's tough to fix those on the fly while pitching in games that matter. So I assume this is very much a phantom IL stint. Carlson makes sense to me. With the starts to the season Shaw/Conforto/Alcantara are having probably safe to cut him loose. Kingery has slightly more utility because him being around lets Counsell be aggressive with moving Shaw in/out of games.
  14. Also worth noting they also turned their defense into a disaster just to squeeze in these modest offensive improvements.
  15. Mlodzinski was a bit of a monster out of the pen last year in long relief, so I'm honestly a little worried he's the goods. Pirates are still a team who I'm not especially impressed by on the position player side. They've improved substantially year over year but they were horrific last year so that's still probably not enough. I think the difference YoY is last year games against them were usually "first team to 3 runs wins" and now it’s likely more like "first team to 4".
  16. As you'd hope with a top round college guy Reid appears to be too good for MB. Hopefully he moves up to SB as soon as the weather turns.
  17. Eli Lovich, who had a Morel-ian contact rate at MB last year, is a hair under 95% (Arraez-ian) through 15 PAs. THAT won't continue, but it'd be cool if he's got a decent hit tool now.
