  1. Looks like this got averted A 10 round draft still sucks and if NDFAs are only going to get $10k, so much talent is going to end up returning/going to schools (JCs or 4-year schools). Yeah this is going to push a lot of kids back to school, and the 2021 draft is going to have way too many guys to all realistically get paid. Hopefully HS kids in particular choose school this year to minimize the number of Juniors who get horsefeathersed over as seniors next year. Also, I wonder if this creates the situation, either this year or next, where it actually makes sense to blow through your draft budget and lose a few future 1st round picks.
  2. I believe, no joke, he has a radio show called "Swings and Mishes"
  3. Primary beat guy for the Marlins FWIW
  4. I hate to be pessimistic, but until there is a vaccine available, I just don't see this going away. Hopefully the outbreaks can be managed once the initial surge has passed, but then there will likely be an extended period where certain areas go in and out of isolation. It is hard to imagine putting 40,000 people in a stadium together until next year at the earliest... Yeah, I wonder if we'll see an empty stadium solution as a way to get the season started sooner. Teams beginning to derive the majority of their revenue from TV contracts instead of tickets has had almost universally negative consequences, but maybe this is the positive?

  6. Nope nope nope nope. Let me hate the Bears because of what they are doing on the field not off of it.
  7. I think Barnwell is right in that it probably depends on the $, but at first blush horsefeathers this
  8. Waiting for him to be released runs the risk of him just not coming. That's what makes it such a Pace move IMO. Paying an extra $0.50 on the dollar to make completely sure you get your Plan A is his signature move.
  9. Trading for Cam instead of waiting like three days for his release would be the Pace-iest thing Pace has ever done. I don't like any of the QB options, but to me Dalton has the best chance of actually ending up a good move. He's been very good in the right situations in the past, and I imagine he will cost the least to acquire.
  10. Ehhhhhhh
  11. At least two weeks, so April 9th at the earliest
  12. Guys usually only get pushed down one level over the course of ST, right? If that (questionable) assumption holds, it implies that Hearn and Verdugo will be starting at SB to open the year. Not wildly unexpected in either case, but I'd say a pleasant surprise. On the flip side, I'm hoping that Strumpf being in camp with SB is related to injury, because that's a BAD sign if he is healthy and doesn't open the year with MB.
  13. I will not let 10 ST innings convince me that Chatwood is good now I will not let 10 ST innings convince me that Chatwood is good now I will not let...
  14. If Kimbrel were coming off a normal year this would be zero cause for concern. Being ~2 MPH below where you should be is perfectly normal for the first week of March, and he's throwing strikes and missing bats. But last year was such a disaster, honestly I'd be worried by anything he did this spring. Even if he were sitting at 99 MPH I'd be worried that he overcompensated for last year and got ramped up too early.
  15. According to this Nico is likely to make the OD roster, though not a lock. And the bullpen is likely to be Kimbrel Wick Ryan Jeffress Tepera Sadler Winkler Mills Of the bubble guys, sounds like Sadler and particularly Winkler are standing out the most.
  16. They're clearly not going to do the only sensible thing and cut him, so he should literally never play unless we're up or down 7 or more. i don't think he's going to make it. the fast miller guy will over him. Yup. Or possibly Phegley as a third catcher. The FO dumped Duensing in a similar situation last year and I expect the same here.
  17. I’m very interested in the pitching placements. I do wonder if they’re a bit more aggressive with Marquez. Unfortunately Jeremiah Estrada had TJS surgery last August. Ah, good call on Estrada!
