  1. I hate to be pessimistic, but until there is a vaccine available, I just don't see this going away. Hopefully the outbreaks can be managed once the initial surge has passed, but then there will likely be an extended period where certain areas go in and out of isolation. It is hard to imagine putting 40,000 people in a stadium together until next year at the earliest... Yeah, I wonder if we'll see an empty stadium solution as a way to get the season started sooner. Teams beginning to derive the majority of their revenue from TV contracts instead of tickets has had almost universally negative consequences, but maybe this is the positive?

  3. Nope nope nope nope. Let me hate the Bears because of what they are doing on the field not off of it.
  4. I think Barnwell is right in that it probably depends on the $, but at first blush horsefeathers this
  5. Waiting for him to be released runs the risk of him just not coming. That's what makes it such a Pace move IMO. Paying an extra $0.50 on the dollar to make completely sure you get your Plan A is his signature move.
  6. Trading for Cam instead of waiting like three days for his release would be the Pace-iest thing Pace has ever done. I don't like any of the QB options, but to me Dalton has the best chance of actually ending up a good move. He's been very good in the right situations in the past, and I imagine he will cost the least to acquire.
  7. Ehhhhhhh
  8. At least two weeks, so April 9th at the earliest
  9. Guys usually only get pushed down one level over the course of ST, right? If that (questionable) assumption holds, it implies that Hearn and Verdugo will be starting at SB to open the year. Not wildly unexpected in either case, but I'd say a pleasant surprise. On the flip side, I'm hoping that Strumpf being in camp with SB is related to injury, because that's a BAD sign if he is healthy and doesn't open the year with MB.
  10. I will not let 10 ST innings convince me that Chatwood is good now I will not let 10 ST innings convince me that Chatwood is good now I will not let...
  11. If Kimbrel were coming off a normal year this would be zero cause for concern. Being ~2 MPH below where you should be is perfectly normal for the first week of March, and he's throwing strikes and missing bats. But last year was such a disaster, honestly I'd be worried by anything he did this spring. Even if he were sitting at 99 MPH I'd be worried that he overcompensated for last year and got ramped up too early.
  12. According to this Nico is likely to make the OD roster, though not a lock. And the bullpen is likely to be Kimbrel Wick Ryan Jeffress Tepera Sadler Winkler Mills Of the bubble guys, sounds like Sadler and particularly Winkler are standing out the most.
  13. They're clearly not going to do the only sensible thing and cut him, so he should literally never play unless we're up or down 7 or more. i don't think he's going to make it. the fast miller guy will over him. Yup. Or possibly Phegley as a third catcher. The FO dumped Duensing in a similar situation last year and I expect the same here.
  14. I’m very interested in the pitching placements. I do wonder if they’re a bit more aggressive with Marquez. Unfortunately Jeremiah Estrada had TJS surgery last August. Ah, good call on Estrada!
  15. After reading MLB's list yesterday I'm really curious to see how the rotations play out in the lower levels: - Do any of Cruz/Gallardo/Estrada open the year in SB? - Do any of Jensen/McAvene/Clarke open the year in MB? - Whither Jose Albertos? - Was 5 dominant starts enough to show that Brailyn is too good for High A? I feel like the position player group is fairly set save for the guys on the Eugene/South Bend bubble like Verdugo, but there's a lot of possibilities on the SP side.
  16. I can tell we're close to the season and my glasses are getting rose colored because I'm letting myself get modestly excited for Chatwood
  17. MLB's looks closer to what I would consider "right." That's understandable, the blessing and the curse of Keith Law's work is that he's just one dude, so he's inherently going to be more outlier-y. Also, Jim Callis is the best at this and has been for a long time, so that doesn't hurt.
  18. This is a weird deal. When's the last time we saw something like this? Longoria, Braun, and Tulo when they all signed their second contracts 6-7 years ago?
  19. If Maples can even get his walk rate down to a Marmol-ian 15% without giving up the whiffs and ground balls he'll be playable. If he can do 10-12% he's closer-caliber.
