  1. Ummm, the radar does not look that bad so not sure what's going on.
  2. Extending a veteran guy 2-3 years from FA is a terrible idea. It almost always works out poorly: Braun, Longoria, Tulo, Howard, Miggy, etc. I legitimately can't think of an occasion where it worked out...was one of Jeter's deals this far from FA maybe? The problem is the guys are making real money by this point, so you're not getting that big of a discount. And if you're not getting a huge discount, that's a lot of risk to take on for a fairly small reward. Add on top of that Yelich was recovering from major knee surgery, and just a horrible idea from Stearns.
  3. ...wasn't Ross a MLB catcher for multiple seasons? Like, IRL? I kind of wonder if that's doing some of the harm right now. He obviously has a strong grasp of what's going on on the field. Is he spending too much of his attention on the micro level field general type stuff ("Kimbrel is dropping his arm when he throws the curve") and less on the macro level game and series management stuff? Because I feel like his issues are usually reacting too late to problems moreso than making nonsensical decisions.
  4. Generally I'm of the school that the tactical stuff we see is not the most important aspect of a managers job. By all accounts Ross is very good at the soft skills part of the job. But the guy REALLY needs to work on the in game stuff. Luckily that's not that hard to learn. Play a bunch of The Show this offseason or something.
  5. They're done. Their one shot was to do a 2016 Indians thing with Woodruff as Kluber and Williams/Hader as Allen/Miller.
  6. Reds have 1st and 3rd with no outs and the middle of the order up...and 6 pitches later inning over
  7. Sooo cool but winds blowing out 20-30mph to RF? Interesting. Yeah I can't remember a day this chilly with winds out that strong. This game on paper has the makings of an absolute drubbing. But these types of games make me the most nervous. It seems like they always end up going the exact opposite of how they're teed up. Like WS Game 3 where Josh Tomlin blanked the Cubs 1-0 with the wind howling out.
  8. Colts are somehow the #1 team in the NFL by DVOA, but I believe that's not schedule adjusted yet so their 36-7 pantsing of the Jets is being treated like a real accomplishment. Colts will be comfortably favored, and should be, but this is a winnable game.
  9. Gonna go on record now with this being a bad idea
  10. I believe I saw that the Marlins are going Alcantara-Lopez-Sanchez in this series. Lopez is probably the best of those three, but he's had a crummy September. Marlins have an 89 wRC+ against righties, and a 111 against lefties. So even beyond the fact that he's clearly cooked Jon Lester *really* shouldn't be starting in this series.
  11. Sounds like Yankees are 7 PM both Tuesday and Wednesday Edit:. And here's the whole thing
  12. While I don't like good things happening for the Brewers, them beating the Dodgers would be AMAZING
  13. Quintana sitting 93-94 is fun. 3-4 innings of Adbert and 2-3 of Q is probably a pretty damn good #3 starter.
  14. The wheels are going to have to *really* come off for me to not want Alzolay as the #3 playoff starter at this point
  15. Yeah I think so. It feels a bit gross but ensuring we get the Marlins in round 1 and breaking the Brewers' hearts makes it worth it.
  16. Yeah, I think at this point you can comfortably consider one spot filled. I wonder how Cory Abbott has looked at the alternate site. He could be in that mix as well.
  17. Regardless of the score, they need to get Kimbrel in the game tonight. He's only pitched twice in the last two weeks, and his last outing was only one batter.
