  1. Yeah it was screaming on a line, one of those that probably didn't get much higher and the bleachers so the wind didn't kill it
  2. https://twitter.com/kenarneson/status/1398358608954359810?s=19
  3. If money is truly there, I'd like to make some moves that get some shopping done for this winter early, and don't cost much in terms of prospects. Like if the Dodgers are happy with their depth, I bet AJ Pollock or David Price could be had for little/nothing. If Nick Castellanos is no longer hitting at a Bonds-ian level, him too. Wil Myers, Andrew Mccutchen, and Kevin Kiermaier have all gotten off to slow starts, but if they get back to their normal clips they'd all fit the mold of what I'm looking for.
  4. Yeah I can't really see a scenario where it makes any sense to trade Amaya over the next year or two. If the team's competing you need him for depth. The team is not even close to strong enough elsewhere to risk being a well placed foul ball away from a PJ Higgins/Austin Romine battery and consider itself a World Series contender. And if you're not competitive, whether that's in six weeks, this winter, or next summer, trading Willson and installing Amaya (maybe not immediately if it's this summer) obviously has to happen as part of the transition to a new core.
  5. With how full the IL is for MB the lineup had gotten kinda thin after Pinango. This is awesome.
  6. 0.53 ERA (including today) 3.45 xERA (not including today) 4.32 xFIP (including today) I actually somehow expected it to look even worse I'm too lazy to do the research on specifics at the moment, but his velo has been up the last few weeks and that has correlated with him actually missing bats and having solid peripherals (before today).
  7. He kind of fell off my radar because his first two outings were horsefeathers, but Ethan Roberts might be making good on all the Driveline porn be posted over quarantine. Overall for the season he's at 8 innings, 11 Ks, 2 BBs (one intentional), 2 HBP, a groundball rate over 50%...that's good stuff.
  8. Feels like Winkler's had more juice on all his pitches the last half dozen outings or so. And that's corresponded with actually missing bats.
  9. Kohl Stewart gave up 3 runs, but only one walk to 6 K's and got a stupid number of groundballs. I think I've been the biggest Trevor Williams supporter around here, but if he throws up another stinker tonight I think you have to make the switch. The 40 man implications are a bit messy, but if Stewart's real he's around for 5 years, so it's a present and future move.
  10. Pinango up to .250/.320/.368. Not amazing but that's a league average-ish line and he's only 19 Nelson Velazquez is up to .484/.500/.710, though he's only been playing for a little over a week Amaya's at .232/.389/.304 with 12 BBs and 13 KS. Power is inherently streaky, so as long as this outage doesn't last another month+ I think there's more good than bad here
  11. The bats are breaking Bain's back this evening rather than vice versa
  12. I just don't think it's going to be ambiguous. The schedule for the next 6 weeks is ROUGH. Nearly all of the tough out of division games occur prior to July 1st. Either the team sinks or swims during this time, and IMO I've yet to hear a compelling argument for holding onto KB (or most of the others) if the team's not at or near the top of the division in July.
  13. Yeah, I think the sample size is big enough that it's fair to say he will outperform his peripherals. But his peripherals have historically painted the picture of a slightly worse than average starter. Right now, even in May, they paint the picture of a guy who shouldn't be in the league.
  14. Sergio Alcantara is up to .333/.477/.471 with more walks than strikeouts. He's a very reasonable for AAA 24 years old, and is apparently a wiz with the glove. There's no rush for middle infield help so he can stay in Iowa and keep proving it, but he looks like he might be a viable bench guy. Maybe if the rotation gets it's horsefeathers together for us to drop to an 8 man pen.
  15. Brennen Bomb #1 of the season!
  16. When Wieck was really awesome at the end of 2019, he was sitting 94 MPH. Since then, probably because of his leg injury, he's been more 91-92. Well tonight he's been 93-94. Really encouraging.
  17. Man what I wouldn't give to time travel this version of Nico back to the 2017/2018 squad. EXACTLY what they needed.
  18. We're now one of those organizations where even random guys I've never heard of throw 98.
  19. I think so too. The good thing is we'll know for sure in a month. Here's the schedule through the end of June: 3 @ St. Louis 3 @ Pittsburgh 3 vs. Cincy 3 vs. San Diego 4 @ San Fran 3 @ San Diego 3 vs. St. Louis 4 @ Mets 3 vs. Miami 2 vs Cleveland 4 @ Dodgers 3 @ Brewers If they're within a few games of first by the end of that they're actually good. If they're not good, then this stretch will for sure bury them.
  20. This is a little harder to do back-of-napkin, but I also think his groundball rate is north of 60% after today
