  1. And Kimbrel's velo is just fine. Don't let him pitch again this week please
  2. I hope Ross gets Chafin and Kimbrel into this game, and then puts them on ice til the deadline. They both had kind of clunkers their last outings, so get them into a game where there's a comfortable lead to show they're fine.
  3. Trevor Williams now has an xFIP under 4 for the year. He gives up a horsefeathers load of hard contact, so I'm far less adamant than I am for someone like Alzolay, but he *should* be a useful pitcher.
  4. Hopefully this is a matter of him still building up strength
  5. Alfonso Rivas on base four times tonight, OBP over .400. Do we know how the glove is in the OF? I believe he's supposed to be a plus at 1B but if he's an adequate COF he starts looking like a really fun bench bat
  6. A lot of it is the shift they have on, but I don't think I've ever seen a play made on a ball hit where Nico just did. Like probably not within 5 feet of there
  7. The Athletic this AM said that they do expect him back this year, but probably as a DH.
  8. 107 MPH triple to the opposite field is about the biggest thing KB could do to prove he's in a good place physically
  9. Mills has been great since coming off the IL. If he can prove that he belongs in an MLB rotation, even just the back half of one, it makes planning for next year a lot easier.
  10. If the rotation in a few weeks isn't Kyle-Bert-Mills-Steele-Keegan we riot
  11. Davies' value is going to be really interesting. Since May 1st, he's basically been his normal self, save for an elevated walk rate. I feel like you *could* talk yourself into that being him nibbling due to limited run support. Can you also maybe chalk April up to new balls and that mucking up a finesse guy more than typical? So how much do you value "probably still Zach Davies"? Feels like Davies will be a good measure of how good of a pure salesman Jed is.
  12. Yeah, a month ago I would have gone "Davies is starting? Nah." But I know I need to watch all the even iffy games for this next week.
  13. Fun with arbitrary endpoints Chris Morel since May 19: .223/.324/.480, 12.6% BB, 26.4% K, 119 wRC+ Ed Howard since June 26 (day of his first dong): .263/.280/.388, 2.4% BB, 20.7% K, 80 wRC+ Jordan Nwogu since 6/20: .256/.340/.512, 8.2% BB, 24.7% K, 128 wRC+ Ethan Hearn since 6/24: .269/.371/.577, 12.7% BB, 38.1% K, 149 wRC+ Chase Strumpf since 6/30: .176/.348/.373, 19.7% BB, 21.2% K, 106 wRC+, .194 BABIP
  14. I *think* this is good news? He'd probably be 60 Day'd if he wasn't slated to come back soon ish?
  15. Two dongs for Hearn tonight, here's the first
  16. Alec Mills is included, if you want to feel better about his performance since he got off the IL and how sustainable it is
  17. They will likely give him the Bryant/Hoerner treatment to manipulate service time because they are a trash organization. You say this without even knowing what will happen in the next CBA. Hell, we'll be lucky if there's baseball at all next spring. Yeah, the whole service time manipulation thing is going to get addressed in the next CBA. It's one of the highest profile issues the PA has raised. And honestly it probably shouldn't get dealt with, they should save their negotiating bullets for things that affects more dollars, but this is 100% getting addressed. The PA will ask for like this and an extra omelette chef on road trips in exchange for expanded playoffs. (Also, Hoerner's not an example...)
  18. If he tweaked something, he wouldn't be out there. I think it's probably just overuse and a bit of arm fatigue. He needs 2-3 days off and then hopefully he'll be fine. Yeah, if you include the ASG he worked in 5 of 8 days. Most likely just that. Which raises the question of why the hell he was out there. That's not an unreasonable workload in general, but while we're being so shamelessly careful with KB's hamstring it seems weird to push Kimbrel that much.
  19. That's embarrassing
