  1. Didn't they say publicly that Don Baylor's job wasn't in jeopardy...then they fired him? I don't believe anything management says, especialy the cubs.
  2. I enjoy watching them hit new lows and lose in new ways. Like screwing up the rundown last night for instance. Or Z hitting a homer and then dumpster blowing it... If your going to be bad, be real bad, .500 is for amatatures, .300 is for the cubbies
  3. Didn't 1997 start with 17 straight loses...that was fun to be disapointed and giving up and the team hadn't even won 1 game.
  4. I think I'm one of the very few who thinks he'll do it in a Cubs uni. I think it all depends on what he'll take after the cubs buy him out. If he still wants to make 10+ million a year, he'll find it outside of chicago.
  5. They tow from that lot now...I learned the hard way
  6. Steve Stone was on the Score yesterday and he brought up the point that the Dodgers have had a ton of injuries and are still in 1st place behind Grady Little. You don't hear Grady complaining much about injuries, do you? You can only use that stupid injury excuse for so long. I really don't know how you can defend Baker with a $95 million payroll that has a team 15 games under .500 on June 20th. That is absolutely unacceptable. what's the point of paying a guy 4 Million dollars if he can't give you something extra over a guy making a million. Might as well use that extra 3 on a player
  7. What is it going to hurt to let him play every game the rest of the year? Either you're right, he stinks, and he tanks the rest of the year, and we're no worse off than we would've been anyway, or he does ok, and is a good throw-in in a trade somewhere, or he figures it out and starts hitting like crazy, and we reap the benefits. There's really nothing bad that can come out of letting him, and the other young guys get out there and either prove, or disprove their value. Agreed, what's the diffence if he stinks on a horrible team....at least we'll know where we stand.
  8. That's what I'm saying...fire the bat boy, SOMEONE! Show me you friggin care. We have a walking zombie manager who has given up, and pitching and hitting coaches who don't do a damn thing.
  9. Why not...killing 3 pitchers is much more interesting than just 2
  10. He'll sit for the rest of June now...Neifi rules
  11. What was that...scoring in the 1st? Sac bunts and sac flys? What team am I watching?
  12. Trainer out. Barrett pulled something. super
  13. Doesn't it make you sad that the coaches "getting to the player" is a horrible thing? Is everyone blind in this organization? Are they doing this becauase of spite of what everyone says, or are they truly clueless. I have a hard time believing they believe their path is the correct one...don't the watch this team everyday? God help us
  14. He hasn't had all his horses healthy dude
  15. awesome...I want him to sign it, he'd probably die laughing.
  16. I know what you mean on that. I went to Miller park last year and sat too close to the speaker...and was deaf for a week. They have interviews of fans and all sorts of loud music playing....it was strange. I still wonder if you did incorporate something like a video screen into Wrigley, would all that other stuff come along with it? I personally don't think so.
  17. why not save some money by firing the bullpen coach and giving all the relievers those square "pagers" they have at Applebees? Your pager starts flashing/buzzing, warm up! =D> You know I know you were joking...but this makes sense.
  18. Yes, but against 2 lefties in a row wasn't it? We see a righty and Nevin disapears again. Good article though Bruce, I just wish the organization would listen to the entire baseball world screaming at their deficiencies. Do they just ignore everyone or think those stats are BS. Are the too short-sided to see that they constantly give up young pitching for one year rentals?…on a team with no solid pitching no less. The man love for Neifi is just shocking, I can’t figure it out. I can’t believe he makes more than Walker, no wonder he’s always mad.
  19. I think I'm pretty opposed to both. This might be lame, but one of the things I like about Wrigley is that the focus is on the game, not the scoreboard. I hate the "kiss cam", "flex cam", and whatever "races" they want to throw up there between innings. Not to mention having stupid question and answer sessions with fans on the big screen between innings. It's annoying. I like taking the oppurtunity between innings to gather my thoughts and discuss what just happen in the previous inning and who is coming up next inning. If the screen was simply going to be for showing replays and stuff like that, I'd be much less opposed. I don't think a new scoreboard would mean kiss cam and all that stuff...especially fan interviews. I don't see cub fans liking that sort of thing. I'd just like the scoreboard to have all game information avaliable. It would have to fit Wrigley though, be shaped similar and have the old clock on top or something. There are already video screens, ads behind the plate and all over the duguout, restaurant in cf, why not keep going.
  20. I like whe Brenly talks about taking more pictures and having a better approach to hitting...like we all complain about on this website. If he really thinks that and makes his teams follow that, I'm all for him.
  21. Worst than patterson...no. I thought pierre would provide good defense and get on base. I know he's not a great hitter, but i thought he'd make more noise than corey (hard not to do). What sucks is Nolasco has a better record than all the cubs starters...on the marlins of all teams....ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!
  22. Yep, and I'm not sure that a payroll boost would even be necessary. It just needs to be spent better (obviously). His unending drive to win is what would make it interesting. What I don't know about him is his relationship with his coaches/players. Is it like Stienbriener where everyone is scared of him and fears their job...not a good enviornment. However the yanks have 26 or whatever championships to lean against.
  23. boy that shows we miss Lee in that 3rd spot. Shows me we miss competency at 1 and 2. good point
  24. Heathen! Actually, I've watched a few sox games for the first time in my life...i've felt guilty and went to church.
