  1. I'd like to see him start at AAA and see if he pitches well and it gives the Cubs a chance to see if Wood is coming back and if Rusch can handle being a 5. I'd love to see him pitch without the Baker effect hanging over his head. i'd rather see hill in rusch's spot and rusch fill in as spot starter and long reliever. i doubt they're paying rusch so much to do that, which makes it all the more ridiculous a signing. Agreed, lets see what he's got, I'm sick of all the wondering about our "prospects"...let em play.
  2. To have a pitcher that gives you 200+ would be an asset in itself on this team. Z you can count on, Maddux as well, but his age and effectiveness still scares me going into this year. Prior and Rusch can do it, and Williams might be able to do it. Wood is obviously a major question mark. What scares me is all that has to go right for them to be competitive at this point.
  3. I like the looks of that 1.933 OPS in the 9 spot. I found a bright side...we have two outfielders that will wear their hats sideways....and a red hed! That's just good tv.
  4. MLB.com I just want to go on record and say that I literally laughed out loud when I read that. And he'll be like every other player that goes to the Cardinals and improve in every category while winning the gold glove. Stupid cardinals. ;)
  5. Who cares about the fans, I wish the players had this attitude.
  6. Grand slam in a pinch hit appearance, I assume it's his first major league at bat. better than poor Adam Greenburg's first plate apparance.
  7. Murton should start everyday with Patterson, Hairston and Burnitz rotating. Cedeno should start everyday. Period. This is becoming comical. Although my hate for neifi has deminished this year for some reason, I see no reason in any form at this point in time for Cendeno not to play. I mean what is the point of seeing Neifi...I don't get it. Murton should play too based on the same rationale really, especially since Lawton is gone.
  8. That's ok, now we can see Jose Macias every day! You have to look at the bright sides of things.
  9. You know that's an interesting point. Cubs lost 3-1 with 1 homers and 2 total hits, I want to jump out a window. the cubs get creamed 10-2, it doesn't bother me as bad...why is that?
  10. I'm very happy he had a good game, hopefull he'll continue to play well and we can trade him! :wtg:
  11. I get too high on wins, and way to low on losses, the cardinals (being a person who lived in st. louis) magnify them. Did you read the stltoday.com at all? Duncan talking about lucky hits...figures, can't even give us that game. Losers.
  12. The reason I thought this was interesting is because I know in the game threads a lot of people were critical of dusty not being visibly angry. I found it interesting to see that it was pretty clear that he did get pissed off. I blame dusty for a lot of things, but when criticism is miscorrectly assigned I feel the need to correct it, if possible. He still makes bonehead decisions, but maybe he doesn't sleep at the wheel like we think he does. He respects his players enough not to do that. Not necessarily a bad thing IMO. Flame away. What's sad is he takes no blame for the mistakes on this team...only puts it on his second or third in charge. I'm so sick of Dusty Baker. You think Bobby Cox would have blamed someone else...heck that just wouldn't have happend on his teams. Excuses, Excuses, Excuses
  13. I was playing MLB 2004, and I hit a incredibly slow roller to the thirdbaseman, and Ramirez still hit into a double play...he's so slow, but so strong.
  14. puts the triple crown in perspective doesn't it?
  15. NO? Maybe he's changing it up....go walker with the homerun!
  16. Cpatt could have popped out with guys on too! corey statement>
  17. base clogger! He's been on base 5 out of his last 6 at bats!
  18. Puttting Hill in the rotation is one thing, but being in the race technically right now, thats just not going to happen. The poll was should he be in the pen. And if he is inserted in the pen he's not going to get many days to pitch. To me, he's a starting pitcher and needs to be in that role until there is a spot for him to get some work done at the big level. As for Murton and Cendeno, I just don't get it. I mean I get why they aren't playing because we are dealing with Dusty, but it doesn't make sense. Cendeno has to be losing his stroke, i mean why can't he at least PLATOON with Neifi, why god!!! As for Murton he only faces lefties, so he's on schedule. Can you imagine if Holly went 4-5, he'd be hitting cleanup for a month.
  19. I wouldn't shut him down, I'd get him healthy enough to finish the year strong and then trade him in the offseason when his value is highest. Wood isn't a closer, not with his control, plus we have 2 closers in Dempster and Williamson. I really like Wood, and I'm sad that this has happend, but we've gone down this road enough with him. What will it take to get rid of him.
  20. The old "Remlinger should't face a lefty" keeps coming to mind as to the Griffey homerun. I do think Rem is done though, he's broken down and just riding out the year. He doesn't get in much and we were losing last night game so it doesn't bother me. Mop up duty only, don't want to see Hill wasted at the bottom of the rotation like Cendeno and Murton are wasted on the bench when they could be developing in AAA.
  21. But the man makes like 10 million a year, how can that be enough for you? I'm done with Wood, gave up on him during his last DL stint. He's a distraction to the team and the fans...organization as a whole at this point. He inspires hope that shouldn't be there (in terms of his possible success). I just hope he gets healthy to finish the season off with a few quality starts and we can move him in the offseason. No one is untradable.
  22. Well, to be fair, no one knows him. This was his first post. Who cares if its his first post or not, doesn't mean he doesn't know anything. Plus add to the fact that he has a huge disclaimer in the front...can't we just take it as a maybe like every other rumor is whether its media, friend, or other wise?
  23. Thats friggn' sweet. Lets get Pat Hughes talking about us now too!
  24. What i want to know is are the cubs hitting coaches not working with him, or he he not listening...why does this "new approach" only seem to be happening now and not over the last 6 months or whatever with the big club? What the heck does a hitting coach do?
