  1. You mentioned the Cubs having not won it in a century...that kind of irresponsibility is a very big reason why they haven't. Yea, you're right pal. Stuff like releasing Greg Maddux had nothing to do with it. Blame the accountants, off with their heads!
  2. Which Captain Caveman have YOU watched? Johnny Damon has maybe the 2nd weakest arm in baseball. We joke about Piere needed a cutoff man to get the back to the INF, but guess what...so does Johnny Damon. And giving up a couple of prospects for Pierre is better then giving Damon almost $10 mill per yr. "Probably the second weakest". Wow you nailed it down for me. Also for the record like Furcal, I dont want Damon/Pierre etiher. I don't understand what's wrong with Corey in CF batting 8th, he's only 25.
  3. Sorry but if you believe Pierre is a better player or defender than Damon, we'll never see eye-to-eye. Secondly what the hell are you even talking about, stockholders? We're talking about baseball here. No ones mentioning blank checks or stock options or my 401k, jeez. The Cubs have money, they should spend it. Period. Goes no deeper than that.
  4. We're the Cubs not the Royals. A budget is a budget. What do you have a degree in? (if you don't mind my asking) International Business
  5. Are you watching the same Pierre I am? Pierre is pretty well known as having a wet noodle for a throwing arm. Damon can go get 'em. You know what, wait, I forgot you have personal inside knowledge to how much money we can spend. Did it ever cross your mind that when Hendry signs whoever, he realizes the ramifications as far as future trades or signings. This is his job. Sorry for the multiple posts but come on...we haven't won in 100 years, the time to be nickle and diming it passed a long time ago.
  6. It never hurts to be reminded to keep your eyes on the prize.
  7. What is everyones concern with overpaying!? It's not YOUR money and last I checked we hadn't won a championship in a CENTURY. You'd rather have Pierre than Damon? Explain to me the logic behind that, because it makes my brain want to implode upon itself.
  8. Jamie Navarro 15-12, 3.92 Frank Castillo 7-16, 5.28 Jim Bullinger 6-10, 6.54 Amaury Telemaco 5-7, 5.46 Kevin Foster 7-6, 6.21
  9. Is he 35M better than Eyre? Hmmmmm.
  10. Yea I'll be sure to let all your fans know that you're no longer a Cub fan, we're crushed. Don't you thikn you're being a touch dramatic, we all know here that we're addicts. It's ok to admit it.

  12. Even if none of the transactions here turn out to happen, I hardly find it a "stretch". All the players mentioned have also been mentioned in other more respected publications.
  13. I like to think all Cub fans are part of a family. A bitter and cynical one, but family nonetheless. Are you implying I'm a Cardinals fan incognito? I wasn't implying anything. I was merely asking a question about a curious inconsistency in your writing. I actually thought the most likely explanation was that you are located in China and english pronouns can be difficult. However, you seem otherwise very fluent and so it seemed curious. I guess you being a cards fan would be another explanation, now that you mention it... It's more that I never speak English here, ever. Rusty.
  14. To break up the bad vibes: http://www.thefunnypage.com/baseball/checking.jpg Oh that Jim.
  15. I like to think all Cub fans are part of a family. A bitter and cynical one, but family nonetheless. Are you implying I'm a Cardinals fan incognito? the Beijing Cardinals? If so, Tim should be censured for slandering you. I've visited the baseball team on campus here (http://www.tsinghua.edu.cn) and let's just say, China has a long ways to go before they start producing major leaguers though. I'm getting off topic, so I'll just say this - look for an all-chinese nba in 5 years. It's all they do, 24/7, play hoops. Back to Furcal - I'd like to also go on note that I'm not advocating signing Furcal. I'm scared off from the first half of 05 and from his drinking. I still don't understand why we just don't sign Giles. All this is too complicated. Hard to be upset with Furcal, just seems unnecessary.

  17. 100 plus incentives. Like I said if he wins the NL Gold Glove, Silver Slugger, is the World Series MVP, the NL MVP, and has 500 PA, every year, for 6 years, that's a ton of bonus money.
  18. I'm all for this move, but not at this cost for either player. That being said, I doubt it'll happen. It has to be bogus. P.S. - Since Furcal would be one of the first FA signings, can you imagine how much money Boras would then want for Damon? Or how much Giles could command? Talk about screwing not only yourselves, but all of MLB. Exactly. The FA market has not shown to be a bell curve, more like the foot of a cliff. Don't you think Eyre and Howry would be demanding more money if we hadn't signed them before Ryan's insane deal? Maybe Hendry realizes he needs to overwhelm Furcal with a deal NOW. Hendry's not an idiot, and we have money.
  19. Brewers are getting new uni's on the 1st I think. Going back to the Ball-and-Glove logo.
  20. Just another side note, this website has given away free passes before. It's not some hook-and-lure thing. You guys are paranoid! Like I said, I honestly believe this rumor isn't a rumor and is something that was told by a reputable source. That doesn't mean its going to happen, but you should at the minimum be thrilled that your Cubs are making a concentrated effort to get some talent into Wrigley. Cross your fingers!
