  1. CP20, don't take this sarcastically, but what players DO you like? You seem to...poo-poo...over anyone that's brought up.
  2. I've read these things about Pierre before. He's the type of player that can push a winning team over the line to a championship-caliber one. For all you stat-heads that are only looking at his '05 numbers, you just aren't seeing the real player and force that this guy represents. A 1-2 of Furcal and Pierre, Pierre second because he can bunt better, would be absolutely LETHAL with Lee and Ramirez (and possibly a decent RF) hitting behind him.
  3. I've never been much of a supporter of online petitions. Maybe a better idea is to find out how to get in touch with whoever organizes the guests. Any help? PM Len Kasper, I'm sure he knows, or at least has a better idea than us. I don't think it's that much of a stretch to think this could happen - could you imagine the silly advertising they could run with this? It'd be even funnier if they displayed a video in CF if Rubby jumping up and down, ala the rally monkey.
  4. He's only one year removed from a 38 HR campaign with a NL team.

  9. Developing, give me a second for a link.
  10. Furcal...better arm, hits for more power, better on the basepaths, experience at leadoff...

  13. Wilson being a Cub just totally depends on whoever else we sign along the way.
  14. Pierre. Ok, but Wilson is better with a similar OBP and far more power. He is probably at least equal defensively, doesn't cost us prospects, and is probably similar money wise. I could live with Wilson in CF if we get a real RF and would certainly prefer him to Pierre. As it stands, I would opt for Bradley for CF but that RF still needs to be identified. The answer to the question is deeper, as it depends on Pierre's health and combined ability to stay healthy. All of his skills are dependant on his ability to run. Wilson just doesn't help our team, same as Soriano. Cubs were 1st in AVG and SLG, and near last in OBP.
  15. I don't see how anything you showed proved that he isn't bad. At best he's a good platoon player worthy of a 1 year deal. 2/12 is insane for that crappy production from a RF. He had mild success in his mid 20s, then a career year in Colorado, and has regressed in his 30s. He would be a terrible choice for RF. You are basically locking yourself into 2 more years of Burnitz like underperformance at a crucial offensive position in an already weak lineup. Look dude, Christian Guzman is bad. Preston Wilson is not bad.
  16. Wilson isn't THAT bad. Last year's Wilson: for Colorado: 258/322/491 for Washington: 261/329/443 Wilson's overall line: 260/25/90, 29 doubles, with 73 runs scored, and 148K/44BB Wilson has a career .811 OPS Last year he had a 907 OPS against LHP, 756 against RHP. Wilson hit for an OPS of .933 in day games last year. Just making an argument. If we sign Furcal, trade for Bradley, sign/trade for a 5th starter, I'd have no major issues with him in RF at ~2y/12M
  17. I think what the Jays intend to do is front-load the deal like Ryan's. Maybe they'll pay 18-20M this year or something, then pay the rest at 9M per or something. I'd have no problem paying Giles 11M a year, but 5 years of it? That's just crazy. There's no real way to rationalize this, it's just too much.
  18. I have absolutely no problem with a 5/55 frontloaded deal.
  19. Brian Giles - OF - Padres The Blue Jays made what were described as "significant inroads" over the weekend in their pursuit of Brian Giles, a person familiar with negotiations told The Globe and Mail. The Jays will announce the signing of B.J. Ryan today and they still hope to add either A.J. Burnett or Giles. "We've had a number of conversations with the Blue Jays and all of them have been positive," agent Joe Bick said. "But the truth is we just found out last Wednesday that there was no chance of getting anything done with the San Diego Padres and now we're moving forward and looking at our other options. Toronto's one of them." Nov. 28 - 3:50 am et Source: Toronto Globe and Mail Hmmm.
  20. This is just getting crazy. Everyone is rumored to be going everywhere. Giles was also mentioned today "in talks with the Dodgers about their opening in LF". They were talking about wanting him to bat 3rd in front of Kent.
