  1. In my 35 years of watching the Cubs and 25 of which was fervently, I can say without a doubt that he has the best arm we've ever had out there. And to think that he is ALSO the greatest defender we've ever had in CF is crazy. The speed guys rarely have a cannon, you might see some flashes. With PCA it's like every time he is tested he has a legitimate shot to snuff the attempt. Base hits up the middle with a runner on 2B used to be damn near automatic runs. Btw, his arm is another big whiff by the scouting community.
  2. The Braves are only a game under 500 now
  3. Hot damn he's had a really strong year. 20 whiffs in 7 innings is insane.
  4. Clowney is like a Jeff George level bust. Unfogettable hype, middling results, but journeys around for a lot longer than expected
  5. Cruz was before the real answer to your question
  6. Frustrating as hell that they convincingly took the opener against PHI and SF and lost both series
  7. He is just not getting to his power this year. He has 1 HR and 3 doubles and I'm pretty sure 2 of those weren't even well-struck. His EV is 85 and his LA is 4.4... in AAA. 31% hard-hit. Nothing like the guy he was last year. Something is still not right.
  8. The top of the lineup needs to horsefeathers produce this time
  9. Here comes another blowup inning from the pen to kill the RD further
  10. I could understand if he was at, like, 20% K rate, but this far of a drop... sorry guys, nobody could have predicted this.
  11. He still had a 3.1` FIP last year. 2 Cubs RP last year topped that and one of them was traded for Cowles and Jack Neely. No freaking data pointed to his K% dropping by 60% from his career rate.
  12. Long is hitting 355/430/495 It feels like he is a definite first-division bat. The dude can swing it. Great pick by the Cubs.
  13. But the question is what the horsefeathers happened? Last year he dropped off but he was still good and we would be happy with that version. He must be tipping pitches. There is no way his K% should drop by 90%.
  14. He's feeling like a guy who will take 2-3 seasons to hit above-average. I'm really skeptical of the overall value he will provide.
  15. Happ can keep doing his Wade Boggs but if he wants to go Ted Williams on em that would be great too.
  16. That was a terrible jump and isn't Peralta really good at preventing steals?
  17. Whatever he did to increase swing speed this winter, I hope Nico (and others) signed up for the course. His swing is pretty simple but destructive.
  18. Mixed results on the contact quality, but incredibly disciplined in his approach and not whiffing much. 450 OBP with 11 walks to 4 Ks
  19. I'm legit thinking they will score 1000 runs this year. When you see how many we banked against that April schedule it's not much of a stretch to fathom.
