  1. The Cubs have a viable RH CF option in Christian Franklin. Basically has a 400 OBP, 70 pt advantage over Alcantara. 30 pt advantage in wRC+. Alcantara does not look like an MLB hitter. Not enough contact or damage against breaking pitches.
  2. Franklin seems like a decent trade chip, too, but maybe they just hold onto him as the 4th OF. He has a 41:47 BBK. I wouldn't mind seeing him on the big league bench. Mo just missed getting that out.
  3. Boy, this is going swimmingly. Let's not roll over in another rubber match, eh hitters? Time to back up your pitcher.
  4. That barehand play he made in the 9th was filthy. We haven't had a guy play 3B like this since Javy did it for a stretch. He looks like a natural.
  5. Dodgers tried a pen game and let their 2nd guy throw 110 pitches in 4.2 IP allowing 9 runs lol
  6. Holy horsefeathers they did it Happ has more than doubled his HR output this week
  7. Cubs are going to have to do something they have yet to do this season to win this game- score more than 4 runs against the Phillies.
  8. Walk bohm horsefeathers why do we hate the IBB so much?
  9. Or he can chase and get himself out instead of taking ball 4 and bringing in a run
  10. Shaw gets himself out chasing too much. A little too anxious.
  11. I don't think Sale will let hometown affinity get in the way at a postseason run and a chance to build on his HOF resume. The Braves have a lot of work to do to get back in the race legitmately. I bet he gets moved.
  12. In that context I was referring to the team. I'd be a little nervous watching the movie play out again. 1/3 of the lineup being useless again. The pitching performing at the utmost unsustainable rate. The gauntlet they are about to face amidst a slump. If they keep hitting like this that lead will be gone by the time they face STL, and given the slate of pitching they are facing, it looks pretty plausible. Abel is going tonight, the Pirates are around the bend and will probably debut Chandler vs us. This is a really tough stretch the next couple weeks.
  13. Without it we (as in Cubs since the rule was instituted, not just this year) would almost never score. Last night the Phillies probably would have done the bunting still if Realmuto had led off the inning with a double. I don't think we would have defended against it. It has had the desired effect: eliminate 13-19 inning games. It's not gonna change.
  14. Thinking about last night I'm really irritated Dansby didn't try to lay down a bunt
