  1. not being a completely insane spaz about individual baseball games isn't a gimmick i admit I'm a game thread spaz but that wasnt it at all. imb isnt a game thread spaz but he probably remembers what I'm talking about. I just think its funny to suggest that he left because of morals when that's not at all what happened. he quit after 2018 because he dug into his "cubs are gods and the brewers cant possibly beat us" shtick too hard and then didnt want to deal with it after they lost. like I fully admit my part and being a child, but he left because he was mad about the brewers stuff, it was obvious. It's not even neccesarily an insult, he had plenty of reason to be annoyed. I pretty much agree with this. If the Cubs dynasty had unfolded like we all had hoped then Duke would have looked past the shitty people in the organization IMO. 2018 probably put a lot of the fizzling fire out.
  2. I would absolutely kick the tires on Alford. There are major contact issues but as you said we are talking about 75 PA. His plate discipline is all over the place and it makes me think he's never found a comfortable MLB approach, although the sample is too small to make real judgments on. He could need the proverbial change of scenery.
  3. The balk was obviously bad but Iglesias also fucked up a tailor-made double play when he tried to field Molina's bases loaded grounder heading right to the SS. That would have been an extremely hard loss to swallow as a fan. Of course Brad Killer had to start the rally as well.
  4. So the Reds are gonna support his moment of enlightenment and road to rehabilitation huh
  5. A while back one of my managers was playing an 80s playlist over our store system before we opened in the morning. I had never heard the unedited version before, but Dire Straits - Money For Nothing, came on and I was floored when I heard that word plain as day in one of the lyrics. This feels like another victory as a Cubs fan tonight. That horsefeathering guy sucks.
  6. Ryan Tepera currently has the lowest contact% among RP in the league. Only 9 IP but something worth watching. We have drastically altered his pitch mix by majorly reducing the 4 seam usage and upping the cutters and sliders. It could be that the league hasn't yet caught onto this and obviously the sample is far too small to put a ton of stock into. But I think there's a pretty clear intent there.
  7. And right on time Schwarber sees a fast ball dead center of the plate on a 3-1 count and watches it. Edit: and then he homers on 3-2 lmao Yeah i was beside myself when he took that absolute cookie on 3-1 lol
  8. Rizzo got 3 amazing pitches to hit in that AB. That was like a Schwarber AB.
  9. We still have some bizarre aversion to the IL, eh?
  10. Can this version of Happ stay if/when Braez returns to good
  11. August 16, 2016 vs Milwaukee. I believe one of those games was the one where KB had the 3 HR, 2 double game. Since then, every double header we’ve had except for 1 has been split. Another oddity I noticed when looking up that stat: the Cubs played 0 doubleheaders last year. Weird KB hit the full house vs CIN
  12. Javy smokes that 2-0 pitch down the RF line the last couple years
  13. Ok I take everything back That was demolished
  14. Yay a Happ bunt as we had some momentum built up
  15. The writing is on the wall: they are no better than the 3rd best team in the division now. The Brewers and Cardinals are firmly in bully mode now.
  16. LOL they are just chillin and destroying us while we are content getting our singular run.
  17. This is horsefeathering miserable. We absolutely fold when the bullpen comes in.
  18. Watch 2 fastballs for strikes and swing at the breaking pitch out of the zone. This is way too common up and down our lineup.
  19. I guess we blame his perception of what's a strike on the ump? Holy horsefeathers dude take the horsefeathering walk.
