  1. The Cardinals had a gameplan and they stuck to it. They were hacking early and hit a [expletive] of at-em balls. Only once did I get a little nervous, on that warning track flyout that kept carrying and carrying.
  2. so he already had tightness in his elbow and they let him go out and throw 41 pitches in one inning? I guess. Its hard to tell just how unusual that is for pitchers. They feel tweaks and discomfort often throughout the season and just keep trucking along. Before the game today I watched a video on YouTube about Kerry's 20 K game. I was shocked to hear Kerry say that he felt pain in his elbow for the first time after he had struck out #20 and did a fist pump. He said he didn't think much of it because you feel weird aches at different points throughout the season as a pitcher. He said he kept pitching through the rest of the season, basically with a torn UCL.
  3. Jesus that's a nasty HS rotation Giolito Fried Flaherty
  4. Steele threw 4 innings of 1 hit ball yesterday and had a sparkling 45 pitch: 35 strike ratio.
  5. It was a continuation of a suspended game. He didn't play yesterday.
  6. Seriously? We're talking about Dewees? If KC thought anything of him they wouldn't have traded him back to us for basically a non-prospect (Stephen Ridings) that I had to lookup just now lol. KC is rebuilding right now and wouldn't make this trade if they thought he was any good. He's nothing special and just part of our effort to bolster our depth at AA/AAA. I'm just saying that I don't like any of our options at CF (unless Heyward continues to wOBA over 400 and compensate for what looks like below-average defense; Almora can't get on base; Happ is not a natural there) and if he continues to hit and get on base at a high clip and Happ gets another chance and turns back into the hole that the league turned him into, then I would like to see Dewees get a look. I really don't care if teams have cast him aside. There are numerous examples of players bouncing around before they were given a shot and they have turned out successful careers at dirt-cheap cost. Think of guys like Muncy, Taylor, Beckham, Voit, etc etc I'm not clamoring for him but I will be watching to see if he maintains or maybe even improves as the year goes along.
  7. All the talk is about Happ but why is Dewees chopped liver? Dude is raking, has no contact issues, and is a natural CF. Feels like a dude we will trade or release and watch as he becomes a better CF than anyone on our roster.
  8. Also from Smith Anyone know which specific additions to the infrastructure he could be referring to? Is it that pitching lab they built in Arizona? We also added/replaced some of the coaching/trainers/staff through the org that seem to be more forward thinking and analytically inclines. We also hired than former player (who’s name escapes me) who has like a biomechanics degree from MIT as example. Edit: I was thinking of Craig Breslow, he’s “Director of Strategic Initiatives for Baseball Operations” and he went to Yale and has degrees in molecular biophysics and biochemistry. Hmm, pretty awesome stuff. I hadn't realized we made these changes. Could definitely be a major factor in how were getting these breakouts and I've felt like our pitching has taken a noticeable step forward on the farm.
  9. Looking at the top 30 fwar offensive leaderboard is funny right now. There's maybe 10 players on there that you would expect to be on there. The Royals have 3 on there, in Mondesi, Gordon, and Dozier You have Andrus, Gallo, Polanco, Alonso, Anderson (1.9 walk rate with a 410 wOBA; where are the articles decrying this as impossible like we got with Javy?), Lowe, Mancini, McNeil, etc. Seeing DeJong 3rd just pisses me off.
  10. Also from Smith Anyone know which specific additions to the infrastructure he could be referring to?
  11. I think Theo might've gotten it right with Hottovy and Iapoce. At least with our offense I truly feel like he's helped quite a bit, in particular with oppo slugging. And our starters are more efficient and able to go 7 more often. I like what I'm seeing.
  12. I couldn't understand it at the time when I read his HS scouting reports and I'll never, ever, understand it, how our FO, thought they should use a 6 on this guy.
  13. Someone's whole reply is, "Molina is incredible"
  14. Bellinger has 2.8 fwar already. horsefeathering insane slash line 427/500/913
