    They would have to make a roster change to get Bray on the active roster. It would be easy to do by dropping Mike Davis. When you only run 7 times a game, you don't really need a 3rd RB. Also if they cut Davis early enough in the season (week 10 maybe?) the comp pick for Amos is back in play.... If they dont do that I would put the non-move on par with Angelo's Warrick Holdman blunder. It's just pure inexcusable idiocy not to cut Davis at this point.

    you want to trade Kris Bryant for a reliever and an outfielder with a .667 OPS in High A Well that's one way you can view it Or you can see that you're judging a 100 PA sample, he posted a 400 woba the level prior, his Ks spiked to a highly uncharacteristic level, and he carries a 50 FV at our most desired position. Hes 75th on fg's board and could very easily be top 50 when the newest list drops. He was a 2nd round pick just 2 years ago and will be 20 when the season starts. Yeah, just an outfielder with a 6 something OPS at High A... Meanwhile Ginkel posted a 41% K-BB and kept HR relatively in check at the most troublesome level for a pro pitcher last year. He held his own in MLB and we need more high leverage arms. We should try to be less reliant on the rotation anyway so a guy like Ginkel could provide some good value for the team. I don't know why we'd scoff at a guy who could pitch multiple innings, throws strikes, and misses a ton of bats. On top of all that, that is just the foundation of the package I am curious about. All along I've been told to temper expectations of a return so I'm not really shooting for the stars there. I'm tying to remain reasonable.

    The players aren't as good as we think they are to naturally make adjustments and the coaches and advanced scouting/FO don't prepare them well enough for the day to day stuff (like getting our butts shoved vs Gio, Peter Lambert, Mahle, etc). The FO/Coaching changes on some of this stuff is as important, if not more, than the player turnover we expect. Agreed. And if a pitcher can tunnel we really fall off the rails. Pretty much every hitter was befuddled by the high fastball/breaking ball in the dirt combo. The numbers against curves and sliders were really bad for an offense that was supposed to be as good as ours was expected to be. A lot of that can be countered with proper preparation. I remember early in Joe's tenure he said something to the effect of not wanting his hitters to get bogged down in the details and wanting them to go up there with a clear mind. He was not a proponent of the percentages and tendencies being fed to hitters and I think that's part of the reason that guys stagnated in their development.

    Really hope it's the injuries that sapped his strength because his statcast data is very Almora-ish. And he needs to be more selective at the plate, which is to be expected, but concerning nonetheless. That elite hit tool could be diminished by putting a lot of balls in play that should have been left alone.

    That's what I said last month. Theres just no justifying paying his salary for what he's given us lately. I don't want to say hes done but he should be making less than half of his current cap hit.

    Am I alone in thinking Counsell would manage this Cubs team to 95-100 wins? The Brewers started Almora and Russell equivalents all season, one of them at lead off. They had like 2 or 3 remarkable pitchers and then he just rotated the other parts in and out effectively, many times pulling starters after 3 or 4 innings. The defensive positioning is spot-on. They reduced most of our big bats to ash. It's absolutely insane that they have that awful of a RD and are still gonna get into the playoffs.

    Both his Dongs so far are Dongs in Wrigley unless there’s extreme wind conditions coming in and Dongs in pretty much every park in MLB. Statcast had one HR at 96MPH and one at 100+, 388 (left field well) and 411 feet (LCF). He definitely seems to have 20HR+ potential, since they tweaked his swing and he’s over the wrist/hand injury especially in the juiced ball environment. Definitely needs to get stronger. So far he has an 85 EV and just a 4 LA. Kinda Almora-ish.

    It did suck that we didn't jump on Chapman right when the Reds shopped him but the team was trying to pretend they would avoid scandalous players. I mean it was a pretty hot topic with most Cubs fans I know insisting he wouldnt be worth the headache. Certainly cost us massively though. Although I have questions about our ability to develop hitters once they reach the Majors and I really dont know if we get this version of Torres TBH. I never saw his power ceiling as anything that exciting.
