  1. Wainwright just mowing us down. Nobody can hit a curveball, most don't even offer at it.
  2. This after he had historically bad numbers with RISP last year To me he is the most susceptible hitter to the shift and makes no sense as a lead off hitter. But then I look at his numbers with runners on and realize he's only halfway decent with the bases empty. Hes a horsefeathering paradox.
  3. Keston Hiura entered this season with 17 pro HR in about 725 PA He hit his 16th today as he just passed 200 PA If I were a scout I'd be hanging em up. Who knows what is even what anymore with these joke baseballs they're using. Austin Riley has 8 in 16 games played so far.
  4. Cubs watch 34% of the strikes they see. 5th worst in baseball.
  5. As amazing as that is, it was either Smoltz or Glavine who missed time because they ironed a shirt while they were wearing it. Just absurd. There is a long list of stupid injuries to baseball players. Like incomprehensible horsefeathers. Edit: googled for verification and Smoltz denies it. But he's an idiot so I'm not sure I'm buying his tale.
  6. Torres doesn't play the Orioles enough to keep that pace
  7. Pretty standard for an AAA to me- a few proper prospects (Happ & Alzolay,) a handfull of intriguing, fringey guys (Garcia, Mekkes, Norwood) and a bunch of expendable spare parts for the big league team. I meant the level across baseball is a joke
  8. AAA is a joke right now but who cares; so is MLB. Feels like he will get a shot this year.
  9. So what's going on with the Iapochilly offense lately. Yikes.
  10. So our best player is injured and two of our other top three hitters, who have been top 30 in baseball in offensive fWAR for the season, go through a tough stretch...and THIS is the 'team we actually have'? I thought the team we have counts on Bryant playing 150 games and Baez and Contreras putting up 4-5 WAR? Didn’t mean that. We are going to figure out if it is Super Cubs or Meh Cubs or somewhere in the middle. Situational hitting at this point isn’t a random issue for these guys but has been a pretty common occurrence. That and the lack of power arms has me a bit concerned that we still don’t know what the team is. We just lost a couple disappointing games to a teams B squad. With our current stretch it isn’t surprising. With the walk off wins we have had recently I am surprised we are doing as well as we have. Without Bryant and with a possibly banged up Javy I would say our B squad lost to their B squad
  11. Dad's are funny. Mine is steadfast in his belief that momentum is real and losing the first game of a 3-game set means you've basically lost the series. I mean the amount of texts I've gotten from my dad talking about the standings at this point in the season is completely ridiculous. But we've lost all momentum and our division lead is shrinking, he screams. I feel like a dick sometimes when I'm just like calm the F down. You've been watching this game for 30 more years than I have and you should know that standings-watching in May is good for nothing aside from an ulcer. The season is so horsefeathering long. He also doesn't really comprehend how good the division has gotten over the last 3 years. We are so far removed from the division we were able to take to the woodshed in 2016. And that's a good thing, to me. I like that our division is easily the most competitive one in the league. There is tons of talent in this division (6 of the NL top 10 is ludicrous) and when we win it, it will be all the more sweeter. I didn't watch the Cubs in the Buckner era so I apologize if I don't mourn in the same way some of you are, and I hope my rant doesn't offend anyone, being so off-topic. RIP
  12. I've been wondering how much our FIP would improve simply by having an average catcher behind the plate. Probably half a run at least.
  13. What a stab in the heart. That fat horsefeathers.
  14. Descalso needs to just go back to being a contact hitter. This dude is approaching a 30% K rate.
  15. I want them to convert him to LF or RF so damn bad. i'll take a butcher at C if he can hit all the damn time. it's the cubs fault for not finding a palatable RF. I mean, you don't think his awful receiving is contributing to our awful walk rates?
  16. Have you seen who is batting behind him? Have you seen Jim Adduci?
  17. Contreras' receiving continues to hurt us. Can't get any calls on the edges so our pitchers have to work over the plate.
  18. I have to believe it would be absolutely awful to fly with a concussion. I feel like he's ok.
  19. Why the horsefeathers is this loser batting 5th today?
  20. So Carl is gonna throw 40 pitches because Joe doesn't even trust the bums on the shuttle to mop up a game down by 6.
