  1. Shut him down after we beat the Panthers tonight
  2. That's pretty funny. Supposing they change it for every game; I wonder what else they got.
  3. Intrigued by the short guys. I think players of any size can put up monster numbers. As evidenced by Altuve, Betts, Carroll, etc. Just shape their swing as early as you can.
  4. Betts is a far superior player and was only set to make 27m when the Red Sox traded him. I think people are going to be surprised by the return the Padres get, although it's likely they won't settle for a headliner as weak as the Red Sox did.
  5. It still doesn't make sense. Like SD gets a better player because the player they are trading agrees to an extension? Soto's value at this point should be close to what Betts' was 5 years ago, regardless of what happens with his contract.
  6. Pretty pointless signing based on athletic upside and rare youth for a FA. We spent way too much on LBs and didn't even put a line in front of them to lessen the load. Really annoying.
  7. Man to add a LH bat like that 🤤 Double dip and trade for Soto, even if it's a 1 year rental
  8. I'm basically saying I have a sliver of confidence remaining that he will ever play well enough
  9. Fields just plainly puts his line and his receivers in a lot of lose-lose situations on passing downs. Is it fair to say that?
  10. I think there were many times where Ross would have helped the team by getting his guy out of there sooner. I think a lot of runs scored that shouldn't have, I think in particular Counsell handles the "in the balance" moments better, specifically when the order is rounding a 3rd time, and when a RP comes in and doesn't have his command from the outset. I think he's better at recognizing that and minimizing the damage.
  11. I would actually have Ferris in the 3rd or 4th tier. He's a 2nd round pick out of IMG, so he is no secret. He has the frame to add, a repeatable delivery (the walks came in bunches and sort of skewed the numbers IMO), he allowed just 1 HR, got plenty of GB, and teams trip over themselves for potential LH TORP. I think he is on the verge of storming through a system next year. AA by June and possible AAA promotion toward the end of the year for a playoff run or whatever.
  12. I think we could attribute some of those ERAs staying low to the fact that Counsell would yank them when he didn't feel they were gonna get the job done and wouldn't let them pass the 3rd hitter. He also preserves his SP in a similar fashion. He is acutely aware of the 3rd time through penalty and would pull the rug out right when he felt like the opposing team was getting acclimated. We saw this many times vs the Cubs. Right when it felt like we were gonna snatch the momentum he would call to the pen. Ross, contrariliy, really counted on his guys to escape the jams and too frequently it would backfire.
  13. I'd be totally cool with him, but only at 1B. Honestly I would expect him to bounce back to the 125 hitter he was in the NL and I give him credit for switching leagues and still posting a respectable 114. I've seen a lot of hitters initially struggle with that change. He has a good approach, still plenty of power, batted ball numbers are good, lots of FBs and LDs. He's a fine alternative to trading for Alonso if you ask me.
  14. It worked pretty well last time we poached a good Manager from a small market team
  15. I'm completely stunned. I've made it quite clear how impressed I have been with his managing; now don't go making me look like a dumbass, Craig!
  16. Coming off a torn ACL there's no way he gets 100M. I'd bet he takes a 1/20 or 2/40 with a mutual option.
  17. What the horsefeathers were the Padres thinking extending Yu until he's 43?! They actually should have traded him in his walk year.
  18. Must-win IMO. Every game after is a must-lose. horsefeathers the season.
  19. If the Cardinals and Panthers both end with 1 win what decides the tiebreaker?
  20. Um Stroud just led a GW TD drive 75 yards in :40 470/5 on the day Another massive whiff by Poles. Even though I wanted to trade the pick, it's only fair to say we were both idiots, only his opinion is the only one that matters.
  21. They pushed Johnson into the #2 spot prematurely IMO
  22. OL committing a lot of penaltis. Another game where our opponent commits none :hmm:
  23. Seriously I'm looking at the game feed just gobsmacked. And for it to happen with a grizzled veteran is some embarrassing horsefeathers.
  24. I'd like to see 300/100 from Bagent. Would have to be the first time a Bear has done it.
