  1. I would be terrified to give him a 300m contract. I don't blame Jed at all if he walks away from those negotiations.
  2. Abrams has 80 grade speed and stole 47/51 bases this year with 18 HR. Was the #6 overall pick in his draft and zoomed through the minors. Probably a 3 win player as a floor in the next few years, although he didn't grade too well on defense FWIW. James Wood is a monster of a man who carries a big stick but probably has the same questions as Alcantara with the long levers and BBK that leaves some to be desired. Mackenzie Gore has TORP potential. Everyone loves a LHSP who can average 95 with a good breaking ball. But he gave up a lot of hard contact and a ton of HR this year. Each of those prospects has All-Star potential. The Nationals did really well in that trade IMO. Raided the right system. Kudos to Preller because it seems like he's going to get really good value back, but that was a haul.
  3. That's because overall is not 2 freaking words. Weirdos. 1:1 or 1-1 are the preferred nomenclature.
  4. Padres must have asked for Horton as the lead piece. If the Yankees make this trade, it feels like Thorpe will be that piece. He had phenomonal numbers this year, most comparable to Horton, regardless of draft status or pedigree,
  5. Ohtani is a peculiar fellow with some very strong demands. It sounds like we were willing to meet them. We've even kept the meeting under wraps. I don't see why this should embarrass the Cubs or their fans.
  6. Brown. You meant Brown. Took me a couple minutes to figure it out lol
  7. I still don't doubt the Rays threw his name out there so the "surfacing" likely is accurate IMO.
  8. If you state that he set a professional career-high, then, yes.
  9. I don't think I've seen anyone outside of NSBB mention Mervis in like 6 months
  10. 1:1 QBs have definitely been a bag of jags lately
  11. You're not counting minor league innings, pretty simple.
  12. Hoskins makes great sense for the team. Yeah he could flop as a hitter coming off a debilitating injury, you have to acknowledge the possibility. But he could very well be a 120 bat that is not attached to a pick. His defense... could be worse? I've been on board with the pickup from the jump. I just wish he was LH. I would still like Belt.
  13. The bit about Glasnow's IP is factually incorrect. In fact it would rank 3rd. When you are slow and you hit everything in the air, to the pull-side, with a 15% line drive rate, 50% med contact, and a career-low 34% hard contact, then you are gonna have a hard time getting non-HR hits. He's almost like a RH Schwarber. Interestingly, when Schwarber posts good BABIP, you also find that he hits a solid amount of line drives.
  14. I said they shouldn't be surprised by it, not that they should like it or accept it
  15. In that half a season Glasnow was worth as much fwar as Alonso in a full season.
  16. Well, I mean the talk was Morel for Alonso, another expensive and expiring contract. so that shouldn't surprise anybody. Of course his name surfaced.
  17. I don't think you can blame anybody but Ohtani and that's obviously not fair. Jed did well even getting to the finals. I doubt it is anything but personal preference, not $ or accomodations,
  18. I believe comfort and ease of transition are factors. Orange County is also pretty freaking gorgeous and California is massive and a blast to explore. You pretty much have every activity you could ever want to engage in right around the corner. They also convinced Mike Trout to extend despite the roster and organizational outlook.
  19. So I mean, he played at friggin Alabama. It's not like they're out there playing against William & Mary D3 squads every week. His line was massive, his opponents lines were massive, he flourished despite this. I think it's horsefeathers.
  20. We get it, Tom. You are the Grand Poobah of prospects.
  21. Come on Bill dig in your old bag of tricks and win Thursday
  22. Love is gonna be another GB QB to be able to laugh at the single-season record for passing yards and TDs by a Bears QB. Most pathetic horsefeathers ever that we haven't had a 4K QB.
  23. Its not like he came from some small school that never played against NFL competition. Murray and Wilson have put up numbers in this era. He's small but not insurmountably so. He may just be having a really ****** rookie season because his surrounding talent isn't good and either is the supporting staff.
  24. Worth noting that the Pats play Trubisky and the Steelers that just lost to Arizona on Thursday night.
