  1. Approach-wise they are the same hitter. Scrappy guys trying to punch it to RF half the time because they have no ability to lift and pull.
  2. OTOH he has a 400 xwoba and a ton of crimson in areas where they usually portend great things going forward. To do what he's done in Oakland is insane. Statcast says he'd have 44 HR as a Cub. I might be out of pocket with this but to me he's the next Nelson Cruz. Plug him in the lineup and get a top 10 hitter and pay about 40M for his prime? Bye, Kevin, Jordan/Brown, best of luck.
  3. To me he's basically Theriot. His bread and butter is the line drive to RF and everyone knows he is hunting that outside pitch to punch through. Most teams aren't scared of it and they invite him to try without trepidation. A lot of those BIP have found gloves this year. The power is never gonna come. Power comes with intent and Nico doesn't intend to do damage. It would be great if he could get more doubles down the LF line.
  4. Ugh I recently cancelled my sub. Can you post all of them please?
  5. Hell KB and Javy's time may be up soon too!
  6. True but I wish he had a proper send-off 😞
  7. I thought you said running the ball is pointless
  8. Speaking of, I'd be totally cool with Zobrist doing that with us. Even if his time with us was shorter than a leprechaun.
  9. Give me Flaherty all day. Burnes is solid but the K% has steadily decreased. Flaherty will have no QO attached and we have a fellow Westlake chum to entice him. I hope Jed goes hard for him, being the last year of his contract. Still a good age as well. Definitely want Soto. Not going to bat an eye when he signs elsewhere.
  10. They're streaking. Suddenly Benintendi is hitting like Soto.
  11. Credit to Swanson for avoiding the platinum sombrero against Miller
  12. Damn Pete, you had that walk in the bag taking a couple tough pitches. Bad chase.
  13. We are so perfectly setup to accelerate the Sacramento/Vegas build with a Godfather offer for Rooker. He, Vlad, and Soto are the only bats worth pursuing and Rooker will make so little we will still be able spend a ton on pitching.
  14. The Patrick grade definitely annoys the horsefeathers out of me. I believe he's the highest rated C so far, Mustipher was great last year but IDK about this year. It's irritating. Our offensive staff looks inept but that's usually what happens when a DC becomes HC.
  15. All I said is their top producing hitter came from an unexpected source. That's a fact.
  16. Really want to sign Scott and Minter
  17. I'm honestly not sure it's the offense. Is a "big bat" really required? If you look across the league, there are several teams putting up big offensive numbers without the usual suspects carrying them. Sometimes those big offensive seasons come from unexpected sources. Any team can get lucky and stumble onto them at times. AZ has Marte but their best hitter has been Joc inexplicably putting up a 153 Jurickson Profar paces the Padres with a 144 O'Neill leads with a 140 I think you can absolutely be a top offensive team if you have a lineup of 110-130 guys. Just for whatever reason like clockwork our hitters tend to slump in clumps and it goes on for way too long. The pen early-on and our 2 month offensive slump knocked this team out of playoff contention. But I don't believe that if just 1 of those hitters maintained a 150+ bat throughout that time that it would have made a significant difference.
  18. I love that he's so malleable and hungry to adapt. I am curious, what percentage of his HR allowed have come on the fastball? It feels like almost all of them are, and they are typically and unsurprisingly on pitches that catch too much of the heart and not enough edge or shadow.
  19. 2nd inning and Busch is the only Cub without a hit
  20. It's slightly annoying that Chourio is having a better 2nd half surge. Looking like one of the best early extensions handed out with his expected development. Still PCA's progress is so fun to dream on.
  21. Also of note: Heliot Ramos became the first RHB ever to hit a HR into McCovey Cove.
  22. In the top of the 10th with 2 outs and just the ghost runner at 2B last night the DBacks chose to IBB Turang and pitch to Chourio. Chourio ripped a triple to take the lead. What a monumentally stupid decision by a really good Manager. Then the Brewers guy walked the bases loaded with 0 outs in B10, hit the next batter, and Murphy left Williams in the pen as Suarez hit a GW shot off the wall. 2 really dumbfounding decisions.
